SUMMARY:
 EVEREST PAPER MILL is involve in producing and distributing various
quality and branded paper product. Management of the company
implemented Theory Y where departmental heads were independent for
making decision related to the problem of their own department. Initially,
mill was growing business due to which management introduced two shifts
in production. However it's market started to decline, parties started to
complain for delay in delivery and declining in quality of product. For the
improvement, the top level management analyzed the existing management
system and decided to introduced quality management to improve the work
efficiency of the mill. Mr.Surrendra was appointed as the production
manager. Mr.Surrendra called the meeting of supervisor. He asked all the
supervisor to submit their report about process and producers of working. By
studying the report of all supervisor, he found there was weakness in
implementation of Theory Y approach of management . Production manager
mr.surrendra decided to change the present system of management and
introduced the concept of
Of independent teamwork . By the implementation of independent
teamwork some improvement were seen in the performance of the
company.
1) What is the main philosophy of Theory Y approach of management?
 Theory Y shows a participative style of management that is
decentralized . It assumes that employees are happy to work, are self-
motivated and creative, and enjoy working with greater responsibility.
It assumes that workers:
 Take responsibility and are motivated to fulfill goal they are given.
 Seek and accept responsibility and do not need much direction.
 Consider work as natural part of life and solve work problem
imaginatively.
2) Why did Everest paper mill become able to expand it's business activities
at the early age of it's establishment? Explain.
 Everest paper mill was able to expand it's business activities at
the early age of it's establishment because at the early age of it's
establishment, there was strong implementation of Theory Y
approach of management. The employee working in the company
were responsible and were motivated to fulfill the goal they were
given. They were self-motivated and self-directed to accomplish the
organizational objectives. The employee were creative and used to
work with greater responsibilities.
3) Mention the reasons of decline in business volume of the mill?
 The reason of decline in business volume of the mill are as follows:
 There was weak implementation of Theory Y approach.
 Lack of quality of product were produced.
 Establishment of different competative firms.
 Employee started to ignore their responsibilities towards the
organization.
4) What are the essential of team work indicate?
 Teamwork is almost indispensable in defining the success of any
business. Some of the essential of team work are indicated below:
 Teamwork motivates unity in the workplace.
 Teamwork offer differing perspective and feedback.
 Teamwork provide improved efficiency and productivity.
 Teamwork provides great learning opportunities.
 Teamwork promotes workplace synergy.
5) Can Mr.surrendra be able to implement teamwork concept in Everest
paper mill?
 Yes, I think Mr.surrendra will be abe to implement teamwork concept
in Everest papar mill. As we know, Mr.surrendra is an experienced
production engineer. He might have experienced this kind of situation
before in his career and have solved it effectively. And presently the
changes which were brought by him of independent team work saw
some improvement in the performance of the company .So in my
opinion Mr.surrendra will be able to implement teamwork concept in
Everest mill.
