The document discusses chapters 7 and 8 of the book of Joshua. It begins by recounting Israel's victory over Jericho through obeying God's commands. However, after this victory, one man named Achan disobeyed by taking some devoted items from Jericho. As a result, the Israelites were defeated in their next battle against Ai. Achan confessed to taking a robe, silver, and gold from Jericho. The document notes that even one person's sin can affect the whole community, as God views his people as one body. It emphasizes the importance of obedience and avoiding things devoted to destruction.
The document discusses running with horses in relation to four significant milestones in one's discipleship journey: Gilgal, Bethel, Jericho, and the Jordan.
Gilgal represents circumcision and cutting away of the flesh. Only then can one progress to the next milestones of discipleship.
Daniel was taken captive to Babylon along with other young men where they were to be trained and assimilated into Babylonian culture. They were given Babylonian names and fed the king's food, which likely included meat offered to idols. Daniel and his friends refused to eat the king's food or embrace the Babylonian names and lifestyle. God blessed them for their faithfulness by giving them superior understanding over the other trainees. They impressed Nebuchadnezzar with their wisdom and served faithfully until the time of Cyrus, demonstrating that God honors those who honor and remain faithful to Him, even in a foreign land.

Their commitment to God despite temptation demonstrates how faithfulness is compensated by God's favor, wisdom, and success.
WARFARE AGAINST THE WORLD Spiritual warfare 2Butch Yulo
This document discusses the three spiritual wars Christians face: against the flesh, the world, and the devil. It emphasizes that Christians must first win the war against the flesh through overcoming sinful desires and habits. They then need to win the war against the world by not loving or conforming to worldly systems and cultures. Only after gaining victory in these first two wars can Christians directly confront demonic powers. The document warns that failing to win the first two wars leaves "open gates" for demons to retaliate. It then examines how Satan controls and influences the world through sinful cultural systems and structures to achieve his purposes of defiling and enslaving people.
The document discusses the three realms of the supernatural: faith, anointing, and glory. It states that faith is the first realm and portal to the supernatural. Faith is in the person of Jesus Christ and it is the beginning of entry into the supernatural realm. The document explores many Bible passages that discuss faith and how it is necessary to please God and receive his promises. It establishes that the realm of faith centers around believing in Jesus Christ.

Tit 2:11-14 For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works.

It emphasizes identifying underlying lies and rotten roots from painful past experiences that have shaped one's perspective. Examining patterns in one's thoughts and behaviors can help uncover lies that are not truly one's own but are propaganda from the enemy seeking to take over one's mind. The teaching stresses that confronting lies with God's truth can unlock freedom and eradicate strongholds built upon false beliefs.

Later, Jonah grew angry that Nineveh was spared and God sought to teach him about divine mercy through a plant and worm. The book highlights God's forgiveness and compassion.

The Kyoto Protocol has both strengths and weaknesses when considering future agreements to tackle climate change. Its main strength is its emissions trading mechanism, which allows countries to meet emissions targets at lowest cost. However, the Kyoto Protocol alone cannot effectively deal with the uncertainties around abatement costs and climate change impacts. Future agreements could build on Kyoto's structure but address its shortcomings by adding options like price caps, indexed targets, and non-binding targets for developing countries to make commitments more ambitious and incentives for participation greater.

The document discusses the Tabernacle of Moses and the Tabernacle of David. It notes that the Tabernacle of Moses contained the Ark of the Covenant and was where sacrifices were performed, while the Tabernacle of David had no veil and allowed free access to Israelites and some gentiles. It then details the history of the Ark of the Covenant, including its capture by Philistines and eventual return. David desired the Ark's presence and set up a tent for it, though Uzza's death upon touching the Ark showed more was needed. The Ark was kept safely by Obed-edom and then brought to Jerusalem by David to signify the Tabernacle of David.
The document summarizes the story of Obed-Edom, a Gittite who housed the Ark of the Covenant for three months after it was moved from Beth Shemesh. During this time, Obed-Edom and his whole household were greatly blessed by God. Impressed by this, King David had Obed-Edom serve as a gatekeeper, musician, and doorkeeper for the Ark. Obed-Edom and his descendants were further promoted and blessed, demonstrating that God rewards those who faithfully serve him, even if they are not initially Israelite.

Joshua 7:1-26 describes how the Israelites were defeated when they attacked Ai after previously defeating Jericho. God revealed that there was sin in the camp, as Achan had taken some devoted items. Joshua had the Israelites come before the Lord tribe by tribe to find the guilty party. Achan confessed to taking a robe, silver, and gold that were devoted to destruction. As punishment, Achan, his family, animals, and possessions were destroyed. The Israelites learned they must fully depend on God and obey his commands to be victorious.

The document discusses several passages from the Torah relating to Jacob blessing his sons. It provides the full text of Jacob's blessings of Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Zebulun, and Issachar. The blessings describe the character and future destiny of each son and their tribes. The document also poses questions about the nature of biblical blessings and how one person can impact the destiny of their people.

The passage describes how Joshua sent two spies to scout out the city of Jericho ahead of their invasion. The spies ended up at the house of Rahab the prostitute, who hid them from the king of Jericho's men. Rahab expressed faith in the God of Israel and helped the spies escape, in exchange for sparing her family when Jericho would be attacked. The story highlights how God can use unlikely people like Rahab and save those with even a small seed of faith.

Biblical archaeology is the “show me” of Christian apologetics. After a brief introduction of the discipline of archaeology, we examine key archaeological finds of the Old and New Testaments. For each find, we present the significance of it, key attributes including discovery, location and type, and how scripture is confirmed by the find.
In this session, we introduce the topic of archaeology and more specifically, biblical archaeology. Following the introduction, we discuss three significant finds: the House of David Inscription, the Moabite Stone, and the City of Jericho. As with all of the finds, we discuss how these specific archaeology finds confirm information found in the Bible.
Lecture presented by Dan Britton.
John Oakes discusses freedom in Christ and asks what individuals have done with their freedom. He references 1 Corinthians 9:1-2 where Paul asserts his freedom. The document encourages using spiritual gifts and talents, referencing passages about building God's house, harvesting little despite planting much, and having a hole-filled purse. It questions one's vision and life's ministry, citing 1 Peter 4:10-11. The final section provides lyrics to the song "Hallelujah" praising God.
The Israelites were defeated by the small town of Ai after one man, Achan, disobeyed God's instructions and took devoted items. God told Joshua that Israel had sinned and could not stand against their enemies until the devoted items were removed. Achan was identified by lot and confessed to taking a beautiful robe, silver, and gold. He and his family were stoned for bringing trouble on Israel. The defeat taught that 1) God knows of our sins, 2) we must overcome defeat through obedience, and 3) individual sin can affect the community.

This document discusses the roles of men and women in the church. It outlines the seven clerical orders and notes that the priesthood is comprised of deacons, priests, and bishops, which are only open to men. It provides details on the roles of deacons and priests. While women cannot be priests, the document highlights examples of saintly women in the Bible and notes the important prophetic roles women have played in revealing aspects of the church. Overall, it examines the theological reasoning for distinguishing roles while emphasizing that roles do not determine relative value between men and women.

When you say there is evil, aren’t you admitting there is good?
When you accept the existence of goodness, you must affirm a moral law on the basis of which to differentiate between good and evil.
But when you admit to a moral law, you must posit a moral lawgiver.[
The document discusses the reliability of the Bible by examining prophecy, integrity, and textual criticism. It outlines how prophecies in the Bible have been fulfilled, distinguishing it from other religious texts. Specific prophecies about Jesus' first coming are analyzed, showing how he fulfilled over 100 prophecies about characteristics like his birthplace, lineage, and manner of death. The accurate fulfillment of prophecies affirms the Bible's divine origin and reliability.

“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.” (Romans 8:14)
Exactly how are we be led by the Holy Spirit?
Exactly how does the Holy Spirit communicate to all of us in this life?
If the Bible calls the Holy Spirit our Guide and Teacher in this life, then this means He will attempt to communicate to all of us from time to time.
Otherwise we will never be able to pick up from Him exactly what He is trying to teach us or tell us to do.
The very first thing we need to know if we want to learn how to be led by the Holy Spirit is that
We can develop a direct personal relationship with Him
Just like you already have with God and Jesus.
Here are two key verses from the apostle Paul telling us that we are allowed to have direct communication and direct fellowship with the Holy Spirit Himself:
“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all.” (2 Corinthians 13:14)
“Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit …” (Phillippians 2:1)

“Being the right person to serve my future spouse’s needs and be a God-glorifying husband or wife”
"Acceptable" is such a loose term, so it's hard to say what is "acceptable" for any given person. After all, everyone is a different individual and their situations and maturity will vary greatly. Something that is acceptable for one person may not be acceptable for another.
Also keep in mind 1 Corinthians 10:23 (NIV), which says, "'I have the right to do anything,' you say—but not everything is beneficial. 'I have the right to do anything'—but not everything is constructive." We have many freedoms through Christ, but that doesn't mean that everything will be healthy or good for you.
The document discusses the problem of suffering and evil in the world. It presents three main categories of suffering: 1) Suffering caused by man, 2) Natural disasters, and 3) Disease. It also notes that atheists use the pervasiveness of suffering to discredit the idea of a loving God. However, theists believe God may have reasons for allowing suffering that humans do not understand. The document argues that atheists must prove: 1) The impossibility of God using evil for a greater good, 2) That God could have no reasons for allowing suffering, and 3) An instance of definitively pointless suffering. But overall, humans may lack the information to make definitive judgments about God's reasons for permitting evil

This document discusses using an agile delivery model for strategic programs. It proposes that agile methodologies can be suitable for large organizations and problems by scaling up the approach. For example, a single scrum team may consist of 7-9 people planning in 2-week sprints with user stories, while a program may consist of 7-9 teams planning in quarterly iterations with customer features. The document outlines levels of planning from portfolio teams down to delivery teams. It also discusses estimating and planning milestone deliverables, iterating rather than incrementing work, and using an agile approach like "Ready...Fire...Aim" for large strategic programs and portfolios.
The document discusses views on sex, premarital relationships, and masturbation from a religious perspective. It presents arguments that:
1) Sex was created by God for the loving union of husband and wife within marriage to bond the couple and allow procreation. Premarital sex risks damaging future relationships and marriage.
2) Masturbation that involves lustful thoughts is sinful according to scripture. It can also lead to sexual addiction and experimentation with unclean acts.
3) Not masturbating is not unhealthy as the body naturally reabsorbs unused sperm cells, and any residual secretions are released through nocturnal emissions. Remaining pure allows one to live a holy life as called by God
St. Paul's life transformed dramatically from persecutor of Christians to their greatest advocate. After his encounter with Jesus on the road to Damascus, where he was blinded by a bright light and heard Jesus' voice, Paul underwent a conversion and became a sincere disciple. He spent years preaching in Arabia, Damascus, Syria, and Cilicia before Barnabas took Paul under his wing and introduced him to other Christians. Together, they were then sent by the church in Antioch to preach in Cyprus, Pamphylia and Phrygia.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375

For something to be under the ban meant one of two things.
(1) Everything living was to be completely destroyed. This has been called barbaric and primitive—nothing less than the murder of innocent lives, but the Canaanites were by no means innocent. They were a vile people who practiced the basest forms of immorality including child sacrifice. God had given them over four hundreds of years to repent, but now their iniquity had become full (see Gen. 15:16; Lev. 18:24-28).

The one family who did turn to the Lord (Rahab and her family) were spared. As with Sodom and Gomorrah, if there had been even ten righteous, God would have spared the city (Gen. 18), but since he could not find even ten, He removed Lot and his family (Gen. 19). Further, if any city had repented as did Nineveh at the preaching of Jonah, He would have spared that city, but in spite of all the miraculous works of God which they had heard of, there was no repentance, they remained steadfast in their depravity. Note Norman Geisler’s comment:
… the battle confronting Israel was not simply a religious war; it was a theocratic war. Israel was directly ruled by God and the extermination was God’s direct command (cf. Exod. 23:27-30; Deut. 7:3-6; Josh. 8:24-26). No other nation either before or after Israel has been a theocracy. Thus, those commands were unique. Israel as a theocracy was an instrument of judgment in the hands of God.2
(2) All the valuable objects like gold and silver were to be dedicated to the Lord’s treasury. This was evidently to be done as a kind of first fruits of the land and an evidence of the people’s trust in the Lord’s supply for the future (cf. Lev. 27:28-29).

After such a tremendous victory at Jericho, Joshua chapter 7 is surprising to say the least.
Suddenly we are presented with a series of failures that stand in striking contrast to the wonderful victories of the past six chapters.
How instructive this is if we only have the ears to listen to the message of this chapter. The thrill of victory was so quickly replaced by the agony of defeat.
This is the story of life, and something we each must learn to deal with in our daily walk. One minute we can be living in victory and next in defeat.
The distance between a great victory and a terrible defeat is one step, and often only a short one at that. A fact of reality is that in a fallen world we can be riding high on the cloud of some great spiritual success, and the very next moment find ourselves in the valley of spiritual failure and despair.
One moment we can be like Elijah standing victoriously on Mt. Carmel, and the next hiding out in a cave, fearing for his life, and complaining to God (1 Kings 19:10).
10 So he said, “I have been very zealous for the LORD God of hosts; for the children of Israel have forsaken Your covenant, torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I alone am left; and they seek to take my life.”
The Lord held the whole camp of Israel accountable for the act of one man and He withheld His blessing until the matter was dealt with. There was sin in the camp and God would not continue the blessing of the nation as long as this was so. This does not mean that the rest of the nation was sinless or that this was the only sin, but this sin was of such a nature (a sin of direct disobedience and rebellion) that God used it to teach Israel (and us) a couple of important lessons.
a. God viewed the nation as a unit. What one did was viewed as a sin for the whole nation because Israel’s corporate life often illustrates truth and warnings for us as individuals (1 Cor. 10). As a warning for the church, it shows us we cannot progress and move ahead for the Lord with known sin in our lives because that constitutes rebellion against the Lord’s direction and control (Eph. 4:30; 1 Thess. 5:19). It is a matter of loving the world and to do so is make one behave as though he or she was an enemy of God (Jam. 4).
b. One believer’s sin impacts everyone. Achan’s behavior also illustrates how one believer out of fellowship, pursuing his own selfish desires and agendas, negatively impacts and creates trouble for an entire group. Achan’s name, the Hebrew, akan, is a play on the word akor, which means “trouble.” So Joshua would declare that the Lord would bring trouble (akor) on Achan who had become a “troubler” to the nation because of his sin (cf. 7:24-25). Thus, the site of Achan’s death and grave was called, “the valley of Achor” (Hebrew, akor, “disturbance, trouble”). This should also call to mind Hebrews 12:15-16 and 1 Corinthians 5:6-7.
Though the crime was committed by one person, the whole nation was considered guilty. The nation was responsible for the obedience of every citizen and was charged with the punishment of every offender.
The Apostle Paul saw the same principle of solidarity at work in the church (1 Cor 5:6-13). Unjudged sin contaminated the whole assembly—“Don’t you know that a little yeast works through the whole batch of dough?” (v. 6).3

we see God being so gracious. He gives them a step by step process so that they would correct their predicament. Sometimes in our impatience we do not graciously help the other know what is wrong and how it can be solved. Are you a wife with a cold shoulder? You are very upset with your husband but refuse to graciously talk with him about what needs to be done to straighten things out. Are you an employer who is hard on your employees expecting them to know how to rightly correct things? Are you a former friend who never told your friend why you wouldn’t talk to him or her anymore? These actions to not reveal the mercies of God We need to take the extra time to spend helping people know how to recover and put aside our anger and spirit of revenge. God is firm about getting things right, but He is very gracious in the way He helps us straighten things out.
It is amazing how Jesus died on the cross for our sin. We were like the city of Jericho fit to be destroyed. But God provided one place where we could find refuge. He then appointed us to tell others where they can find refuge from God’s judgment. This is God’s mercy. Do we extend His grace as He tells us or are we complacent huddled about in the designated house just waiting doing our own thing? God is seeking us out. He wants us to be saved. He gives us a way to be saved through the blood of Christ. We need to be gracious like our Master. If God calls you as a missionary or evangelist, then go. Don’t stay in your way. We are the means by which we pronounce the cure from God’s wrath.
There is another spiritual teaching here in this verse. Notice that in verse 15 that the one who takes the things shall be cursed with them. “And it shall be that the one who is taken with the things under the ban shall be burned with fire, he and all that belongs to him, because he has transgressed the covenant of the LORD, and because he has committed a disgraceful thing in Israel.” This shows how the wrath of God must go forth. You can argue with God that He should not do such a thing but spurn Him, but you will only perish. You can state that God is not that way, but in the end you will perish with the world. The curse is inclusive and shows us how the world is already under judgment. We are inherently under the curse.
