1917-1996 CE) was one of the pioneers of the contemporary
Islamic revival. Born in Egypt, he graduated from Al-Azhar

fifty books, Shaykh Muhammad Al-Ghazali was a leading

an academic advisor at both Qatar University and the Islamic
University of Amir Abdul Qadir in Algeria. In his lifetime,

(March 9,1996) he passed on to the mercy of Allah while on
a visit to the Holy Places, and was buried at al-Madinah.
YUSUF TALAL DELORENZO is an American who, after his
conversion to Islam while still an undergraduate, went on to
study Islamic jurisprudence in the traditional madrassah
system in Pakistan. Following completion of his studies, Yusuf
Talal began a career of teaching Islamic law which in 1980
brought Shaykh Muhammad Al-Ghazali to him for ten days as

Naleemiyah Institute of Islamic Studies. At the Shaykh’s

Repentance

Without remorse or repentance, growth is impossible as we are doomed to repeat mistakes if we cannot see errors and the harm caused. Repentance does not require self-loathing, but abandoning the former behaviors or attitudes. When overly focused on self-criticism, there is less energy for repairing harm caused. Repentance is easier when recognizing everyone sins and cherishing understanding and grace.
Integrity
Integrity means being honest, upright, and keeping one's word. It requires internal honesty and self-awareness to accurately communicate with others. People of integrity can be trusted to do what is right even when unpopular and maintain their commitments. For Muslims, integrity is especially important as it means honoring what has been entrusted to them and fulfilling their promises, as encouraged by Islam. The Prophet Muhammad said that those with four traits of lying, breaking promises, betraying covenants, and quarreling in an imprudent manner have traits of hypocrisy.
Kindness
Kindness means recognizing our power over others and choosing to help rather than hurt them. It requires empathy to understand others' experiences and know how to make them feel good. Kindness builds confidence by seeing others' humanity rather than putting them on pedestals. While kindness is not given expecting repayment, it often inspires others to also act with kindness which spreads goodwill more broadly.
Types of Heart

This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Pride

- 2. From 'Abdullaah Ibn Mas'ood ra who related that Allaah's Messenger SAWS said: "Whoever has an atoms worth of kibr (pride) in his heart will not enter Paradise." So a man said: What about a person who loves (i.e. takes pride in) wearing beautiful clothes and beautiful shoes? So he replied: "Indeed Allaah is beautiful and loves beauty. Kibr (pride) is to reject the truth, and to despise the people."
- 3. Pride against the truth It is obligatory upon everyone to humble themselves to the truth which Allaah SWT sent His Messenger with, and which He sent down in His Book. As for those whose pride and arrogance prevents them from totally complying with the Messengers (i.e. having eemaan or faith in them and their message) - then they are kuffaar (unbelievers) who will dwell in the Hellfire for eternity. Allah the Most High said "Indeed those who argue about the Signs of Allaah without any authority having come to them, there is nothing in their hearts except kibr (pride). So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing." [Surah Ghaafir:56]
- 4. As for those whose arrogance and pride prevent them from complying with parts of the truth - because it opposes their personal opinions or their whims and desires - then such people are not kuffaar (unbelievers), but such an action necessitates them being punished in accordance with what they have of kibr. This is why the Scholars are agreed that whenever the Sunnah (guidance and way) of Allaah's Messenger SAWS has been explained to anyone, then it is not lawful for him to turn away from it to the saying of someone else, whoever and whatever status he may have.
- 5. Pride towards people This type is to despise the people, and to look down upon them. This attitude arises when a person is amazed with his own self, thinks highly of himself, and thinks he is better than others. So this causes him to have kibr towards the creation, despise them, mock them, and to degrade them through both speech and action. Allaah's Messenger SAWS said: "It is enough evil for a person to despise his brother Muslim." [Muslim]
- 6. This is why the man asked: "What about a person who loves (i.e. takes pride in) wearing beautiful clothes and shoes?" Because he feared that this was the kibr which would be under the threat of punishment. So the Prophet SAWS explained to him that this was not from kibr; since this person was one who complied with the truth, and was humble towards people, and that this was from the beauty that Allaah SWT loves, for indeed Allaah - the Most High is beautiful in His Dhaat (Self), Sifaat (Attributes) and Af'aal (Actions), and He loves both outer and inner beauty.
- 7. As regards outer beauty, then it includes cleanliness of the body, clothes and place. As regards to inner beauty, then it is beautifying the character. This is why the Prophet SAWS used to supplicate: "O Allaah! Guide me to having beautiful manners and characteristics, no one can guide me to beautifying them except You. And turn away from me all evil actions and characteristics, no one can turn them away from me except You." [authenticated by al-Albani]
