- 3. 3 FORESTS ARE THE LUNGS OF THE PLANET, RECYCLING CARBON DIOXIDE AND PRODUCING THE OXYGEN FOREST Advantages A huge forest benefit is biodiversity, groundwater, recycling carbon dioxide and producing the oxygen, a source of medicines, natural ecosystem, rainfall so forth. Roles of forest ecosystem A huge forest creates clouds => rainfall => back to sea either underground. Negative effects Deforestation will meet a destroying severe windstorm, drought, insufficient groundwater, nutrients (agriculture) and fisheries.
- 4. WATER SOURCE Prey Lang is important to the watersheds of the Stung Sen and Stung Chinet and play a vital role in regulating both surface. Actually, groundwater across 4 provinces such as: • Preah Vihear province • Kampong Thorn province • Steung Treng province • Kratie province Therefore, Prey Lang represents an ecosystem, Prey Long is also important for preserving Watershed, and Supporting local livelihood. It’s proving present and future generations with valuable plant resources essential for both traditional and modern societies such as like medical plant, fibers, dyes, as well as development of new sweeteners, enzymes, stabilizer and other industrial products 4 Plant, seed, herbs, medicines.

LIFE & PREYLANG Conservation Value of forest for biodiversity Save the forest, safe our lives • For humans, forest directly provides livelihoods for 10’s millions of people. • Water links every species on earth and rivers are the life blood of every country. • A resource of rainfall and groundwater Clear-cutting and logging are very harmful to rainfall. 5
