Non-communicable diseases, particularly cancer, are significant public health challenges in India, exacerbated by lifestyle factors such as tobacco use, dietary habits, and insufficient physical activity. It is estimated that around 800,000 new cancer cases arise annually, with preventive measures focusing on tobacco control and primary prevention strategies being vital for reducing incidence and mortality rates. India has initiated a national cancer control program encompassing early diagnosis, treatment, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles to combat rising cancer rates.
