This document provides an overview of AutoCAD software. 4.  The Word AutoCAD is made up of two words
“Auto(logo of company)”and CAD “(computer aided
design)”.
 AutoCAD is 2D and 3D modeling software.
 It is developed by Autodesk company.
 Autodesk is an U.S.A based company.
 It is widely used in industry for 2D drawing and 3D
modeling.
 In another way we can say that AutoCAD is a designing
course , which is performed by the help of computer.

5.  AutoCAD software was firstly launched by
Autodesk company in Dec. 1982.
 It comes in India in 1988.
 The first version of AutoCAD was R1 after that
R2,R3,R4…………… and so on.
 In 2000,Autodesk launched a version of AutoCAD
2000 after that 2001,2002…… so on.
 This time, we have the latest version of AutoCAD
is 2017,which was launched on 21th march 2016.
 Latest version is easy to use and over come the
difficulties of old version
.

8.  Every thing that we draw in AutoCAD is exact.
 All object drawn on screen is based on simple X-Y co-ordinate
system.
 In AutoCAD it is known as Work co-ordinate system (WCS).
 We are drawing a line, so we have two points A(-10,-4) and B(9,6).

11.  Hatching is used to add shaded patterns to objects and shapes
within an Autocad drawing. Hatch patterns can be used to
indicate a material to be used, such as a concrete hatch.
 You will pick:

14.  Line:
 Select the coordinates (0,0) as the first point of the rectangle
 Take direction toward the x axis and mark length as 100
 Now from the adjacent segment take the direction toward the y axis and type the length of line as 150.
Join:
 use the join command to join the all line segments and make the a single object
 To use join command type join on command line and select the line to be joined.
Extrude:
 Extrude command is used to extend the object in the z axis and also also help a to convert the 2D object 3D
object
 Type the extrude command on command line
 Select the object
 Take the cursor toward the z axis and type its length (as 200) in the command line

15.  Trim
 Trim command is used to trim or erase the extra portion of line segment.
 Type trim command on command line
 Select the portion you wish to trim
Viewports:-
 Viewports are used to convert the AutoCAD workspace into 4 equal workspace which shows the different
views of the same object
 Type view port on the command line
 A box will appear which have the options to change the view ports (front ,right, Isometric, left)
