This document analyzes the lighting design for two spaces in a proposed community library project: a multipurpose area and staff office. For the multipurpose area located on the second floor, daylighting analysis found it would receive 664 lux of natural light, above the required 500 lux. Artificial lighting of 26 track lights was also designed. For the enclosed staff office on the fourth floor receiving minimal daylight, a 3x3 grid of 7 flush mount ceiling lights was designed to provide the required 300 lux of illumination. Diagrams show the lighting layouts and expected light levels for both spaces during day and night periods.

This document provides a comparative analysis of public spaces between buildings in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. It analyzes the urban morphology, historical development, and patterns of social activities in specific areas of each city. In Ho Chi Minh City, social activities commonly occur along streets with vendors and at road junctions. In Kuala Lumpur, socializing typically takes place in building plazas and along streets with stalls. Both cities demonstrate that necessary and optional activities in public spaces can foster social interactions, as predicted by urban theorist Jan Gehl.

The second examines The Geometry of Feeling and how architecture should stimulate human experience and feelings rather than just visual elements. The third discusses Kenneth Frampton's Towards a Critical Regionalism and his calls for integrating culture and nature and emphasizing tactile senses in architecture over just visual aspects.

George Town in Penang, Malaysia was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008 due to its unique architectural and cultural townscape reflecting the blending of Malay, Chinese, Indian and European influences. The document discusses the challenges facing the preservation of George Town's heritage character, including development pressures, non-compliance with conservation guidelines, and gentrification. Key approaches to overcoming these challenges include adaptive reuse of historic buildings for new purposes, restoration work to repair and restore buildings to their original state, and ensuring new developments are sensitive to the historic context. Successful examples provided are the adaptive reuse of the Syed Al-Attas Mansion as the Penang Islamic Museum and the Rumah Teh Bunga mansion as the Penang

"Rethinking Kållered │ From Big Box to a Reuse Hub: A Transformation Journey Toward Sustainability"
The booklet of my master’s thesis at the Department of Architecture and Civil Engineering at Chalmers University of Technology. (Gothenburg, Sweden)
This thesis explores the transformation of the vacated (2023) IKEA store in Kållered, Sweden, into a "Reuse Hub" addressing various user types. The project aims to create a model for circular and sustainable economic practices that promote resource efficiency, waste reduction, and a shift in societal overconsumption patterns.
Reuse, though crucial in the circular economy, is one of the least studied areas. Most materials with reuse potential, especially in the construction sector, are recycled (downcycled), causing a greater loss of resources and energy. My project addresses barriers to reuse, such as difficult access to materials, storage, and logistics issues.
Aims:
• Enhancing Access to Reclaimed Materials: Creating a hub for reclaimed construction materials for both institutional and individual needs.
• Promoting Circular Economy: Showcasing the potential and variety of reusable materials and how they can drive a circular economy.
• Fostering Community Engagement: Developing spaces for social interaction around reuse-focused stores and workshops.
• Raising Awareness: Transforming a former consumerist symbol into a center for circular practices.
Highlights:
• The project emphasizes cross-sector collaboration with producers and wholesalers to repurpose surplus materials before they enter the recycling phase.
• This project can serve as a prototype for reusing many idle commercial buildings in different scales and sizes.
• The findings indicate that transforming large vacant properties can support sustainable practices and present an economically attractive business model with high social returns at the same time.
• It highlights the potential of how sustainable practices in the construction sector can drive societal change.
