Traditionally, classes and textbooks on Western history have had little to say about the lives of women in Western civilization. This lack of attention was largely due to the fact that women were officially excluded from politics and the military in such formative civilizations as Classical Greece and Rome, as well as being excluded from official positions within the early Christian Church. In fact, when women did draw the attention of historians in the Classical and Medieval eras, it was usually because these women were transgressing accepted norms in these male-dominated, hierarchical societies. However, as we now know, women contributed to these early societies in very important ways, not just as wives and mothers but, occasionally, as political leaders and even military figures. In this class, we’ll examine the political, social, and cultural forces that shaped women’s lives, and we’ll examine the lives of a few of the remarkable women who challenged these forces, both successfully and unsuccessfully.Ncc art100 ch.6

Ancient Egypt had a strong civilization that began around 3200 BC. The geography of Egypt, especially the flooding of the Nile River, supported the rise of Egyptian culture. Egyptians developed hieroglyphic writing, built pyramids and temples, practiced mummification, and had a society led by powerful pharaohs. Over time, foreign invaders like the Hyksos challenged Egyptian rule. The New Kingdom saw a revival of Egyptian power until internal struggles and outside pressures contributed to the decline of their empire, though Nubian kings later formed a Kush Empire influenced by Egyptian traditions.

Ancient Egypt had a strong civilization that began around 3200 BC. The geography of Egypt, especially the flooding of the Nile River, supported the rise of Egyptian culture. Egyptians developed hieroglyphic writing, built pyramids and temples, practiced mummification, and had a society led by powerful pharaohs. Over time, foreign invaders like the Hyksos challenged Egyptian rule. The New Kingdom saw a revival of Egyptian power until internal struggles and outside pressures contributed to the decline of their empire, though Nubian kings later formed a Kush Empire influenced by Egyptian traditions.

- 15. Now, I understand much better some things about Ancient Egypt’s art. I think that this monograph helped me a lot. Egyptians painted things related with the life after death; they decorated tombs with pictures so they could help people with their lives after death. Inside the tombs there was the death person that has been preserved after death. This is a mummy; a body of a person or animal that has been preserved after death. Egyptians made sculptures to thank gods. Another sculptures showed, pharaohs, kings, and queens of Egypt. These sculptures decorated the temples. Egyptians painted the walls and the tombs with different colors. Each color represented something special. Blue and green, the Nile and life; yellow Sun God; and red, power and vitality . Conclution
