4. Colleferro is a town located at about 40 miles
from Rome that you can reach in about 40
minutes. There are 23.000 inhabitants.
5. History of Colleferro
• Our town is very young because it was born in
1935 in the area near Rome where a wealthy
family built a gunpowder factory. This area was
chosen for its strategic position: it is close to a
river, it is in a flat position and it is close to
the railway.
6. The rocket Vega
• This important factory has undergone many
transformations over the years. Today the
factory produces the first Italian satellite
launcher called Vega. It was launched for the
first time in space on the 13th of February
2012.
8. The Piombinara castle
• Being a young town there aren’t historical
places. This is a medieval castle, called
Piombinara whose origins date back to 1000
d.C.
• First it was built as a defence castle, then it
became a sort of “farm”, a Palace and nowdays
it is going to be restaurated
11. Sports and intertainments
• There are many shops, gyms,
two swimming pools, two big
sport centers, a cinema with
9 screens, a theater.
• At about 10 kilometers from
Colleferro there is the
amusement park of Rome,
called “Rainbow Magic
Land”.
