3. ABSTRACT
The system makes use of fingerprints which is a
unique identification of every person.
The method proposed here would eliminate the
use of stationary materials as well as reduce
human efforts in process of attendance
development
This also provides design method for generating
SMS alerts using GSM

5. INTRODUCTION
Attendance is an important criteria for measuring the
performance of any institute.
Use of fingerprints for attendance at work places and
academic organizations will be extremely useful.
The attendance records for manual attendance system
are time consuming and they can be stolen or lost.
It concludes the observations made and the future
expansions that can be made to the system.
A biometric system based on this trait should be
accurate, fast, robust and inexpensive.

9. ARDUINOUNO
The Arduino Uno is an open-source
microcontroller board based on the Microchip
ATmega328P microcontroller and developed by
Arduino.cc and initially released in 2010.
The board is equipped with sets of digital and
analog input/output (I/O) pins that may be
interfaced to various expansion boards (shields)
and other circuits.
The board has 14 digital I/O pins (six capable of
PWM output), 6 analog I/O pins, and is
programmable with the Arduino IDE (Integrated
Development Environment), via a type B USB
cable.
10. Fingerprint Module
A fingerprint module is an electronic device that is used to capture
and analyze a person's fingerprint. It is commonly used for security
and access control purposes, such as unlocking a phone or a door, as
fingerprints are unique to each individual and difficult to replicate.
The module typically consists of a sensor that captures the fingerprint
image and a processing unit that analyzes the image to extract unique
features of the fingerprint, such as ridge endings and bifurcations.
These features are then converted into a digital template, which can
be compared to a database of previously enrolled fingerprints to
determine whether a match exists.
11. GSM MODULE
The main purpose of the GSM in projects is
to send and receive the messages.
The GSM has the operating voltage of 12v.
The Advantages of GSM are,
• Worldwide roaming
• Security
• Reasonable devices and facilities
• Extensive spectrums obtainable
12. EMBEDDED C
Embedded C is a subset of the C programming language,
designed specifically for embedded systems.
It includes additional features that are not found in
standard C, such as bit manipulation and direct access to
hardware.
There are a variety of development tools available for
embedded C programming, including compilers, debuggers,
and integrated development environments (IDEs).
Embedded C programming include understanding of
hardware interface familiarity with microcontroller
architecture, proficiency in programming in C and assembly
language.
13. ARDUINO IDE
Arduino IDE (Integrated Development
Environment) is an open-source software
development platform that is used to write and
upload code to Arduino boards. It provides an easy-
to-use interface for programming, debugging and
uploading code onto an Arduino board.
It comes with a built-in code editor, a compiler, and
a bootloader that allows the code to be uploaded to
the board. It also includes a serial monitor that
enables the user to communicate with the Arduino
board via the USB port.
17. ADVANTAGES:
To get rid of paper-based monitoring
Most Accurate tracking solution
Saves time
Better security
Saves Money
18. DISADVANTAGES
Issues with recognition of damaged fingerprints
Not ideal for remote and field workers
Accuracy is not as high as facial recognition systems
Environmental challenges
19. APPLICATIONS
Main uses of biometric systems and devices are
identification and authentication
Biometric devices are commonly used in:
Security
Banking
Mobile access and authentication
Schools and buildings
Various organization and companies
20. FUTURE SCOPES
Biometric technology is rapidly expanding as a trusted,
secure means of personal identification.
Future identification can include facial and iris
recognition.
Facial recognition requires no contact and face Images
can be captured from long distances.
Iris recognition is the safest and secure attendance
method.
21. CONCLUSION
In conclusion, the implementation of an attendance management system using
biometric technology with SMS alert can be highly beneficial for schools,
colleges, and organizations.
The use of biometric authentication ensures accurate and secure tracking of
attendance, reducing the risk of errors and fraud. The SMS alert system
provides real-time notifications to teachers, professors, and managers,
enabling them to manage and monitor attendance records effectively.
