Federico Garcia Lorca was born in Fuente Vaqueros, Granada and spent his childhood in Valderrubio. He studied philosophy and law at the University of Granada and moved to Madrid to live in a student residence. Lorca traveled to New York and was later appointed director of La Barraca, dedicating himself to theater and writing plays such as Yerma and Bodas de Sangre. He was tragically shot and killed at dawn on August 18th, 1936.
