Simple Present Present Continuous
 Dan sometimes wears a suit.
He doesn’t usually wear a hat.
Does he wear a hat?
When does he wear a hat?
 Who wears a hat?
 He is wearing jeans now.
He isn’t wearing a belt.
 Is he wearing a T-shirt?
 What is he wearing?
 Who is wearing a shirt?
PRESENT SIMPLE TENSE
Examples:
 Dan writes in his diary once a day.
 She never drinks milk at night.
 They always eat dinner together.
 We use Present Simple Tense to talk about
habitual activities = the things we do repeatedly.
 We use the adverbs of frequency (always, usually,
sometimes, never …) with this tense.
Usage
Time adverbs of The Present Simple Tense
• Every moring/evening/night/day/week…
• Once /twice/three times.. a day/week/year
• All the time
Frequency adverbs of The Present Simple Tense
• Never
• Rarely
• Sometimes
• Often
• Usually
• Always
PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE
Examples:
 Dan is writing in his diary now.
 The children are drinking milk at the moment.
 Look! It is raining.
 Technology is developing fast these days.
Usage
 We use the Present Continuous Tense to talk about
actions that are in progress in the present = actions that
are happening at the moment of speaking.
 We also use it to describe a changing situation.
 We generally don’t use the adverbs of frequency with
this tense. We use time expressions like now, at the
moment, right now...

BE CAREFUL!
With state verbs like “want”, “need” ,“like”,
“understand” and “know”, we use Present Simple Tense.
