This document discusses preparing students for employability in South Africa. It outlines challenges in the South African economy including high unemployment. Definition: A labour market is the place where
workers and employees interact with each
other. In the labour market, employers compete
to hire the best, and the workers compete for
the best satisfying job.
Description: A labour market in an economy
functions with demand and supply of labour.

cognitive skills, is a crucial determinant of
labour market success.

Employability has been defined as "the capability
of getting and keeping satisfactory work".
Employability Skills can be defined as the
transferable skills needed by an individual to make
them 'employable'. Along with good technical
understanding and subject knowledge, employers
often outline a set of skills that they want from an
