Case Studies
• Apache Gold Casino
Because of known soil issues and existing structures experiencing settlement issues the
engineers recommended that all new structures on this property be constructed with a deep
foundation system using helical piles with grade beams.

It was anticipated that a pile depth of 45’ would be needed to reach solid strata but in some
locations a depth of up to 63’ was needed before reaching solid strata.
Apache Gold Casino
When the required depth was reached the piles were cut off 4” above the bottom of the
grade beam trench and the pile caps were installed. It is now ready for the rebar to be
tied to the pile caps and the grade beams to be poured.
Aqua Tots Swimming
         Pool Addition
This new build out required the addition of a swimming pool inside the existing
structure. The challenge was how to support the load bearing wall and interior
column during excavation for the pool.
Aqua Tots Swimming
                Pool Addition
The solution was to install 7 hydraulic piers on the exterior wall footing and 4 helical piles to
carry the load of the column footing.
Manufacturing Renovation
This structure was being remodeled to accommodate the addition of new heavy
equipment. It was determined that to support the additional load a 16” slab with a
deep foundation system would be required. Helical piers were selected as the best
 solution.

100 Helical piles were installed in a pattern to carry the load of the new heavy
equipment and not conflict with the new plumbing that had been installed.
Caisson Replacement
Hotel Indigo Scottsdale
The hotel was adding a balcony to expand the bar area. The original design called for caissons
to be installed to carry the load of the columns that would support the structure.

The steel cages had been delivered to the site but when the drill rig arrived they found that
there was not enough room to get the drill in.
Hotel Indigo Scottsdale
Arizona Ram Jack was contacted to help provide a solution. Our in house engineer worked
with the engineer of record to design a system using helical piers to replace the caissons.
Hotel Indigo Scottsdale
The small equipment needed to install the helical piles was able to get into the tight
areas by the building and around the pool.
Caisson Replacement
After the piles had been installed and cut to the required height from the bottom of the
footing the pier caps were attached . The area is now ready for the rebar cage to be
  attached and the concrete poured.
Caisson Replacement
With the footings poured the columns were installed and the structural is up and ready for the
deck. Once again Arizona Ram Jack was able to provide a better solution
