2. How are our prayers
answered by Him?
1. Allah may grant you exactly what you asked for
2. He may grant what is better from what you
asked for
3. He may prevent harm from what you’re asking
for
4. He may store as a reward in the Hereafter
3. “The delay in the response of your
Du’a is not a sign of rejection,
because Allah’s promise is
certain..”
– Imam Zakariyyā Al-Ansāri
4. So, why do we pray
when everything is already
destined?
• Because destiny is only within Allah’s knowledge only
• Supplications is our means & effort in reaching our goals
• e.g. If you are pre-destined to eat, at 10:00pm, do you just
sit and suddenly become full?
5. Etiquette in supplication
1. Submit your Taubah in front of Allah
2. In a clean state (wudhu)
3. Perform prayers
4. Raising of hands
5. Facing Qiblah
6. Basmalah (begin with His names) & Hamdalah (Praises for Allah)
7. Salawat, opening & before ending (Salutations for the Prophet)
8. Supplications that are Ma’thur (cited authentically) is better
6. Conditions of supplication
1. Ask of something good & with pure intentions
2. Do not ask for something impossible
3. Do not ask for trials & tribulations
4. Have good thoughts towards allah
5. Do not set a certain timing
6. Know what you’re asking and its meaning
7. Acknowledge that nobody is capable of granting his need except Allah
7. Avoid eating Haram
ََّلا َّنِإَو ,ًابِّيَط َّالإ ُلَبْقَي َال ٌبِّيَط ََّلا َّن"إ سلم و عليه ال صلى َِّلا ُلُوسَر َلَاق :َلَاق ُهْنَع ُلا َيِضَر َةَرْيَرُه ِيبَأ ْنَع
َاي" :َىلَاعَت َلَاقَو ,"ًاِحلَاص ُوالَمْعَاو ِتَابِّيَّطال ْنِم ُوالُك ُلُسُّرال َاهُّيَأ َاي" :َىلَاعَت َلَاقَف َيِلَسْرُْملا ِهِب َرَمَأ َاِمب َيِنِمْؤُْملا َرَمَأ
:ِءَامَّسال َىلإ ِهْيَدَي ُّدَُمي َرَبْغَأ َثَعْشَأ َرَفَّسال ُلِيطُي َلُجَّرال َرَكَذ َّمُث "ْمُكَانْقَزَر َام ِتَابِّيَط ْنِم ُوالُك ُوانَمآ َنِيذَّلا َاهُّيَأ
َيِّذُغَو ,ٌمَارَح ُهُسَبْلَمَو ,ٌمَارَح ُهُبَرْشَمَو ,ٌمَارَح ُهُمَعْطَمَو !ِّبَر َاي !ِّبَر َاي
?ُهَل ُبَاجَتْسُي ّىَنَأَف ,ِمَارَْحلِاب".
O Lord! O Lord!,” while his food is haram (unlawful), his drink is
haram, his clothing is haram, and he has been nourished with haram,
so how can [his supplication] be answered?
8. 1. Prayer of Adam A.S.
In seeking repentance
َنِيرِسَاْخلا َنِم ﱠنَنُوكَنَل َانْمَحْرَتَو َانَل ْرِفْغَت ْمﱠل ِنإَو َانَسُفَنأ َانْمَلَظ َانﱠبَر َالَاق
[Al-A’raf:23]
Both of them said: Our Lord, we have wronged
ourselves, and if You do not forgive us, and have mercy
upon us, we will surely be among those who lost
9. 2. Prayer of Ibrahim A.S.
For Istiqamah & good descendants
َاءعُد ْلﱠبَقَتَو َانﱠبَر ِيتﱠيّرُذ ِنمَو ِةَالﱠصال َمِيقُم ِينْلَعْجا ّبَر
ُبَاسِْحلا ُمُوقَي َمْوَي َيِنِمْؤُمْلِلَو ﱠيَدِلَاوِلَو ِيل ْرِفْغا َانﱠبَر
[Ibrahim: 40-41]
My Lord, make me among those who establish Salah,
and (also) from my descendants, Our Lord, accept
my supplication
10. 3. Prayer of Yusuf A.S
to be among the righteous
ِينﱠفَوَت ۖ ِةَرِخْآلَاو َايْنّدال ِف ّييِلَو َتَنأ ِضْرَْألَاو ِتَاوَامﱠسال َرِطَاف
َيِِحلﱠاصِالب ِينْقِْحلَأَو ًامِلْسُم
“Creator of the heavens and earth, You are my protector in this world
and in the Hereafter. Cause me to die a Muslim and join me with the
righteous.”
11. 4. Prayer of Ayyub A.S
in illness
َيِمِحﱠارال ُمَحْرَأ َتَنأَو ّرّضال َيِنﱠسَم ّينَأ ُهﱠبَر َٰىدَان ْذِإ َبّويَأَو
[Al-Anbiya:83]
And [mention] Ayyub, when he called to his Lord,
“Indeed, adversity has touched me, and you are the
Most Merciful of the merciful.”
12. 5. Prayer Musa A.S
For after commiting sin
ِيل ْرِفْغَاف ِيسْفَن ُتْمَلَظ ّينِإ ّبَر َلَاق
[Al-Qasas: 16]
He (Musa) said: “My Lord, I have wronged myself,
so forgive me..”
