Practical Research 2
Week 2
CS_RS12-Ia-c-2
Good day everyone
 ,
Let’s start the class!
Learning Objectives:
The learners shall be able to:
1. Determine the importance of Quantitative
Research
2. Relate quantitative research to other
disciplines
3. Illustrate the importance of Quantitative Research
Across Fields
Part 1:
Importance of Quantitative Research
The purpose of quantitative research is to
generate knowledge and create understanding
about the social world. Quantitative research is
used by social scientists, including communication
researchers, to observe phenomena or occurrences
affecting individuals. Social scientists are concerned
with the study of people.
Part 1:
Importance of Quantitative Research
The results of quantitative research specify an
explanation into what is and is not important, or
influencing, a particular population. Quantitative
research also provides answers to questions about
the frequency of a phenomenon, or the magnitude
to which the phenomenon affects the sample
Part 1:
Importance of Quantitative Research
The quantitative approach is so vital, even in our
daily lives, because in most, if not all things we do
in life, we measure to see how much there is of
something. Quantitative method is part of our daily
life, even from birth, data are constantly being
collected, assessed, and re-assessed as we grow.
Part 1:
Importance of Quantitative Research
The importance of quantitative research is
critical in the area of assessment of students and
lessons, appraisal of my output over a period of
time, the overall performance of school
performance in the area of academic and non-
academic or non-curriculum activities such as sports
and other social activities.
List of Academic Fields
Part 2:
Quantitative Research Across Fields
A. Quantitative Research and Anthropology
Many discoveries in this field like human behavior
in the society, racial conflicts and human evolution
have given enormous contributions to the
improvement of human life.
Part 2:
Quantitative Research Across Fields
B. Quantitative Research and Communications
Researchers
understanding
are often interested in
how an of a particular
communication
phenomena might be generalized to a larger population.
Example: What communicative behaviors are used to
respond to co-workers displaying emotional stress?
Part 2:
Quantitative Research Across Fields
C. Quantitative Research and Medicine
This tends to be predominantly
observational research based on correlational
studies.
Experimental research designs may
enhance the quality of medical education.
Part 2:
Quantitative Research Across Fields
D. Quantitative Research and Behavioral Science
The output of this research focuses on human
behavior relates with one another and also the
individual differences that may affect human
relations
Part 2:
Quantitative Research Across Fields
E. Quantitative Research in Education and Psychology
Many educational principles in understanding human
behavior are the focus of this research.
Part 2:
Quantitative Research Across Fields
F
. Quantitative Research and Social Science
The method employed in this type
of quantitative social research are typically the
survey and experiment.
Example: The study of DSWD regarding 4P’s
The Financial Impact of 4P’s
Program to 4P’s Student Beneficiaries of
Holy Spirit National High School
Activity #1
