Organizations and the business sectors use the system of appraisal to gauge the performance of the various employees. Moreover, rewarding of well-performing employees is a motivation to the employees. This project aims a studying the effective systems of appraisal and rewarding in the retail business. Effective appraisal systems ensure that there is progress in the organization. Effective appraisal systems are appreciated by the employees and are the basis of retaining good performing employees. The proposal aims at providing an understanding effectiveness of systems of rewarding and appraisal to the performance and retention of the employees.

3.1 Introductory background
The human resource department plays an important role in ensuring that all units of a business are integrated. They do this by employee management; performing appraisals and rewarding of well-performing employees. Rewards appraisal is significant in raising the employee motivation and levels of performances (Hendry, 2012).

In the era of knowledge economy, knowledge based employees have irreplaceable importance to the sustainable development of enterprises. However, the various deviations in the performance appraisal of knowledge based employees, such as excessively quantified performance indicators, unreasonable assessment cycle, excessive evaluation standards etc., have led to the increasingly serious overwork problem of knowledge based employees. According to the goal orientation of performance appraisal, it can be divided into evaluative performance appraisal and developmental performance appraisal. Forced spontaneous overwork and spontaneous overwork are two forms of overwork of knowledge based employees. Different goal orientation of performance appraisal has different influences on overwork of knowledge based employees. This paper analyzes the overwork problem caused by the goal orientation of performance appraisal, and discusses how the performance appraisal of different goal orientations affects the overwork of knowledge based employees. Based on the self determination theory, motivation can be divided into autonomous motivation and controlled motivation. The perception of the external environment and the inner self of knowledge based employees affect individual motivation. It is concluded that the evaluative performance appraisal linked the appraisal results with salary, job promotion, etc., forms the high pressure, threatening atmosphere and enhances the individuals controlled motives, in order to complete the task and avoid punishment, resulting knowledge based employees in forced spontaneous overwork. Developmental performance appraisal links the assessment results with training development and career, etc., forms the incentive, self independent and inclusive atmosphere and enhances the individuals autonomous motivation, in order to pursue self achievement, resulting knowledge based employees in spontaneous overwork. Due to the recent unethical scandals caused by the world’s leading companies, there are now growing attentions to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) issues. CSR and its motivations have been investigated both academically and practically for a long time, however it seems these studies are not sufficient for consistent and convincing results. Also little is known about Scandinavian based companies. In order to fill in the gap and make an academic contribution to this field of study, which aims to investigate impact of CSR on employees’ motivation, through a case study of Siddhartha Group, which is a Nepali business organization and one of the Nepal major players in the manufacturing industry. The authors chose the company in consideration of their high commitment in CSR activities and access to firsthand data. This study inherits and develops the Kovach model 1987 , also references researches related to employee motivation to find out factors affecting the work motivation of staff working at official credit institutions in Ham Thuan Bac district, Binh Thuan province. Research data are collected from 176 employees working at official credit institutions by convenient sampling. Applying exploratory factor analysis and multivariate linear regression, the study has demonstrated impacting factors to employee motivation. They include learning and promotion opportunities, income and benefit, care and recognition, working environment, leadership style, nature of work, workplace relationship, empowerment, and job stability. This document describes the research design and methodology for a study examining the relationship between factors of emotional intelligence and IT employees. It involved a pilot study with 100 IT employees and a main study with 423 IT employees. A quantitative research approach was used involving validated questionnaires to measure emotional intelligence factors and demographic variables. Statistical analysis methods like exploratory factor analysis, ANOVA, linear regression, and structural equation modeling were used to analyze the data and test hypotheses about the relationships between emotional intelligence factors and differences among demographic groups. The pilot study helped validate the research instruments and informed improvements for the main study.

In the era of knowledge economy, knowledge based employees have irreplaceable importance to the sustainable development of enterprises. However, the various deviations in the performance appraisal of knowledge based employees, such as excessively quantified performance indicators, unreasonable assessment cycle, excessive evaluation standards etc., have led to the increasingly serious overwork problem of knowledge based employees. According to the goal orientation of performance appraisal, it can be divided into evaluative performance appraisal and developmental performance appraisal. Forced spontaneous overwork and spontaneous overwork are two forms of overwork of knowledge based employees. Different goal orientation of performance appraisal has different influences on overwork of knowledge based employees. This paper analyzes the overwork problem caused by the goal orientation of performance appraisal, and discusses how the performance appraisal of different goal orientations affects the overwork of knowledge based employees. Based on the self determination theory, motivation can be divided into autonomous motivation and controlled motivation. The perception of the external environment and the inner self of knowledge based employees affect individual motivation. It is concluded that the evaluative performance appraisal linked the appraisal results with salary, job promotion, etc., forms the high pressure, threatening atmosphere and enhances the individuals controlled motives, in order to complete the task and avoid punishment, resulting knowledge based employees in forced spontaneous overwork. Developmental performance appraisal links the assessment results with training development and career, etc., forms the incentive, self independent and inclusive atmosphere and enhances the individuals autonomous motivation, in order to pursue self achievement, resulting knowledge based employees in spontaneous overwork. Due to the recent unethical scandals caused by the world’s leading companies, there are now growing attentions to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) issues. CSR and its motivations have been investigated both academically and practically for a long time, however it seems these studies are not sufficient for consistent and convincing results. Also little is known about Scandinavian based companies. In order to fill in the gap and make an academic contribution to this field of study, which aims to investigate impact of CSR on employees’ motivation, through a case study of Siddhartha Group, which is a Nepali business organization and one of the Nepal major players in the manufacturing industry. The authors chose the company in consideration of their high commitment in CSR activities and access to firsthand data. This study inherits and develops the Kovach model 1987 , also references researches related to employee motivation to find out factors affecting the work motivation of staff working at official credit institutions in Ham Thuan Bac district, Binh Thuan province. Research data are collected from 176 employees working at official credit institutions by convenient sampling. Applying exploratory factor analysis and multivariate linear regression, the study has demonstrated impacting factors to employee motivation. They include learning and promotion opportunities, income and benefit, care and recognition, working environment, leadership style, nature of work, workplace relationship, empowerment, and job stability. This document describes the research design and methodology for a study examining the relationship between factors of emotional intelligence and IT employees. It involved a pilot study with 100 IT employees and a main study with 423 IT employees. A quantitative research approach was used involving validated questionnaires to measure emotional intelligence factors and demographic variables. Statistical analysis methods like exploratory factor analysis, ANOVA, linear regression, and structural equation modeling were used to analyze the data and test hypotheses about the relationships between emotional intelligence factors and differences among demographic groups. The pilot study helped validate the research instruments and informed improvements for the main study.
