International School of NKUHT

National Kaohsiung University of Hospitality & Tourism is planning to establish
the International School, scheduled to operate officially starting Fall 2012.
Despite that it is currently still under development, there are already 2
departments and 2 programs in operation which will eventually be placed within the
International School.
Two new international programs were introduced in Fall 2010, the Bachelor’s
Program in Tourism Management and the Bachelor’s Program in Chinese Culinary
Arts.
In addition, the school will also include two existing departments of foreign
languages: the Department of Applied English and the Department of Applied
Japanese.
All four programs/departments are 4-year Bachelor’s Degree programs, with a
1-year industrial internship. The international programs are taught entirely in
English.

Int’l Culinary Arts Program

The Bachelor’s Program in Chinese Culinary Arts (also known as the
International Culinary Arts Program, ICAP) is a 4-year Bachelor’s Degree program,
equivalent to the ‘3+1’ program in the British education system. The program is
conducted in English, covering the professional subjects, elective subjects and the
general college and university requirements.
Multi-stream culinary courses are featured as majors in this program,
including Western Culinary Arts, Chinese Culinary Arts, Chinese Dimsum, Bakery,
Mixology etc.
Each year, the program had elicited the participation of international teachers
to teach certain professional courses within the field of Hospitality & Tourism. As for
Fall 2011, we recruited Chef Derek Bruce from New Zealand and Professor Michelle
McCarthy to teach Western Culinary Arts and Introduction to Hospitality & Tourism
respectively.
We would like to invite passionate international students all over the world
who are interested in this program to join us.
