Nested Spirawave® Springs for Higher ForcesSmalley
Smalley's Nested Spirawave® Springs are flat wire wave springs with multiple turns, coiled in parallel to produce higher forces. Nested springs can be used to replace stacks of single-turn wave springs which in turn reduces misalignment, counting errors, and simplifies installation and removal. These springs are the perfect solution for applications like heavy-duty bearing pre-load, that require high forces in tight radial and axial spaces.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Editor's Notes
Here is the 1.reason from the mentioned 10 top reasons. It is definetely the most important one: Dedication to the Extrusion Industry. Adapting a general CAD System needs an investment and dedicated resources. Why to reinvent the wheel ? Several strong functions needed only from Extrusion Die makers are already included in ExtrusionPower. Why to take any general CAD solution and write some functions on it, when it is already here.ExtrusionPower adds with every new release new functionalities directed to Al.Extrusion technologies, so the gap between general packages and ExtrusionPower widens up constantly. Stay updated with new breakthrough technologies
Frequent software product updates ensure that customer enhancement requests and wishes are quickly included in the released product. A software must be therefore flexible and dynamic. This is the subject of our 2.reasonThe possibility to take part in the software development process. Specific customizations and enhancement requests of customers are included in the products with high priority.
Extrusion Die Design is often based on the experience of the Die Designer. Sometimes this experience may be in form of company design rules, but often it only exists in the designer’s mind and it is difficult to transfer this knowledge to other persons. Many time it is a big problem to produce the same Die once again after the Die completes his lifetime, if the Die is designed and manufactured with the tradional manual methods.ExtrusionPower is capturing the knowledge of the die designers by standardizing company’s own design methods.Capturing knowledge is a difficult task in today’s fast-moving virtual organizations. Every employee are bombarded with an almost constant stream of data every day. This overload of data is making knowledge management increasingly more important. Extrusion Die Design is often based on the experience of the Die Designer. Sometimes this experience may be in form of company design rules, but often it only exists in the designer’s mind and it is difficult to transfer this knowledge to other persons. Trial and error method is also often used, as new dies are first produced for testing only, before the final shape is fixed. Many time it is a big problem to produce the same Die once again after the Die completes his lifetime, if the Die is designed and manufactured with the tradional manual methods.ExtrusionPower is capturing the knowledge of the die designers by standardizing company’s own design methods.Actively managing knowledge can help companies increase their chances of success by facilitating decision-making, building learning environments by making learning routine, and stimulating cultural change and innovation. By proactively implementing knowledge management systems, companies can re-write the old saying, “Change is inevitable, growth is optional” to “Change is inevitable, growth is intentional.”Definition of 'Knowledge Capital'An intangible asset that comprises the information and skills of a company's employees, their experience with business processes, group work and on-the-job learning. Knowledge capital is not like the physical factors of production - land, labor and capital - in that it is based on skills that employees share with each other in order to improve efficiencies, rather than on physical items. Having employees with skills and access to knowledge capital puts a company at a comparative advantage to its competitors.Investopedia explains 'Knowledge Capital'Businesses develop knowledge capital by encouraging employees to share information through white papers, seminars and person-to-person communication. Knowledge capital is important because it reduces the odds that a company will have to "reinvent the wheel" each time a particular process is undertaken because its employees have access to documents detailing the necessary steps, and personnel who have undertaken similar activities.
The design of "Extrusion Dies" requires special capabilities from the underlying CAD technology, like the capability for quick "last-minute" changes, creation of independent complex blends, modification of the topology or the possibility to import and modify external CAD data. Direct Modeling Systems propose modification of 3D models by recognizing the geometry on the fly, therefore it is not needeed to keep the model history. ExtrusionPower is based on a Direct Modeling kernel.History based parametric CAD products (like SolidWorks, Inventor, CATIA etc, …)
During the production of an Extrusion Die, several manufacturing processes are applied, from CAD to CAM from FEA to ERP. Due to the open interface structure, ExtrusionPower supports the achievement of a complete Product Life Cycle. Different applications can be integrated with ExtrusionPower. We can add different CAM, PDM and simulation products to complete the Product life cycle of an Extrusion Die. All with open interfaces. From Drawing to Complete Die Set.
Modifying bearing lengths and angles helps to achieve the desired uniform material flow (exit velocity) through extrusion dies. Design and Modification of Bearing Lengths is a time consuming process, which needs several steps, until the optimized bearings are designed. ExtrusionPower includes several functions for better and faster design and modification of bearings. For example with the 'Automatic Bearings' function we can model 3D bearing lengths under 2 minutes - which takes approx. more than an hour with a traditional CAD systems - like SolidWorks, Inventor etc.
Extrusion Die Design is often based on the experience of the Die Designers. Sometimes this experience may be in form of company design rules, but often it only exists in the designer’s mind and it is difficult to transfer this knowledge to other persons. ExtrusionPower advises the users by giving extrusion die design specific recommendations.
We think, now the time has come to do the Extrusion Dies only in 3D. Whichever method you use, start with 2D - add intelligent attributes and build up your 3D Die or create the Die directly in 3D, the result is the same: a 3D Extrusion Die. The 3D Die is the master model, which is used for all downstream extrusion applications, from FEM to CAM, from PDM to ERP.
Knowledge is "the power", experience is "the tool to beat the competition". ExtrusionPower keeps user's Aluminium Extrusion knowledge and experience confidential against competition by means of customization files
No need for own internal support team. Our engineers help you at every stage of the implementation.Support is done from engineers, who not only knows the solution who also has a deep Aluminium Extrusion knowledge. The importance of "technology based" support. Aluminium Extrusion Die Design is a new emerging technology with technical innovations which represent progressive developments for the competitive advantage. Receiving a high level product support is an important factor for a successful implementation of a CAD System.
