This document considers and evaluates potential settings for filming a school media project. It examines Shirley High School field, Spring Park, Le Porge in France, and Gabrielle's dad's house in Wales. Le Porge and Gabrielle's dad's house are selected as the settings. Le Porge offers freedom and creativity with its isolated, tree-covered space by the sea. Gabrielle's dad's house provides a safe, comfortable home environment with an old-fashioned look suitable for less scary scenes. The contrast between the two locations works well for the project.

2. Shirley High Schools Field
We went to look at the field on day at lunch time and we thought that this could be
a potential setting. This would mean that we could simply ask our teacher if we can
go and film there it would not be hard to get permission. We realised that the field
is not very suitable as it is always crowded with people, from clubs, lessons or
simply just playing.
Reasons why we could use this area:
• In the school
• Easy access
• Open access
Reasons why we should not use this area:
• Lacks imagination
• Lacks originality
• Not much to work with, as restricted to what we can do

3. Spring Park
After school we went to visit this park to look at what we could work with on the
site. To get permission for this site I do not think is necessary as long as we do not
record others in the park.
Reasons why we could use this area:
• Close to our houses
• Easy to get to
• A park, so the child character can use it
Reasons why we shouldn’t use this area:
• Could get boring
• No where to go inside if it rains
• Cut on what you can do as other children are around and they may get scared

4. Le Porge (France)
Before and whilst visiting the site we created a media studies chat where we could
discuss everything that we like about eh site. We would not need permission as it is
around the gardens of my dads holiday home.
Reasons why we should use this area:
• No one else will have ever used it
• I will be there for a whole 6 weeks
• Gives freedom to be very creative
• Lots to work with
• Our summer chalet is there so there's cover if it rains
• Step mum is create so can help with face paint
Reasons why we shouldn’t use this area:
• If we want to change something when I am back then we cant easily do that, we
will have to wait until the Christmas holiday's

5. Gabrielle’s Dad’s House (Wales)
When visiting this house we again share photos and conversations over the phone
about what we could do with the site. This is a safe site to work on and we have
been given permission to use the house by Johnathan.
Reasons why we could use this area:
• Were not limited to what we can do
• The characters will have the comfort of their own home
• It can create a family atmosphere
• I can use Wi-Fi to share and contact Sophie
• Step mum is create so can help with face paint
Why we shouldn’t use this area:
• Being in wales means we would have to wait for a weekend to do what we need
to

6. Evaluation
We have decided that we will use both Le porge and My dad’s house in
Wales. Our reasons for using Le Porge are that we really like the look of the
Le Porge for what we want to do, as it is very covered with trees and sand,
we think that we could really use this area to isolate our main character.
Also, I can start recording on the first week and then we have plenty of
time to re do bits if we need to.
We also like the idea of using my dads house as its quite old fashioned
looking with big wooden beams and white and black colouring. This would
be good as we can record the home scenes and less scary scenes here,
using the idea of safety of your own home, but taking advantage of this
too. This also means we can have the main character Cerys playing with our
dogs and her own toys, to make it more realistic.

7. This is what the outside space looks like
where I will be filming. You can tell that it is
very isolated with trees. This will be a big
contrast to the safe homey feeling that my
dads house will have.
