1. Poster analysis of ‘Abbey Road’ by The Beatles
This poster features the band walking across a zebra crossing. We can see the band
name and the title of the album on the top right corner which is promoting the
bands album. Though the poster is simple I think that it is quite eye catching and
effective. Reason being is that the members of the band fills up most of the
framing making them stand out more. The clothing worn by the members is quite
formal looking meaning that the album could be more mature sounding than the
last one. The actions of the band members also creates enigma for the viewers, the
viewers may think ‘Where are the band members going’. The poster represents the
English culture with the old cars such as the white ‘Beetle’ (links with their band
name)parkedin the background. Natural lighting is used; the choice of shooting in
daylight rather than night connotes their good side. Three of the band members are
following John Lennon which connotes he is considered to be the leader of the
group. The band members have long hair which represents that they are hippies.
This artwork is majorly iconic, the band was extremely popular back in their days
and the artwork is still considered to be one of the best album covers today. No
conventions of websites or any other details are shown which only promotes the
album.
