Students will redesign the cover of a book read in class in the form of a poster based on the book's genre and writing style. They will give a brief presentation by the end of the week to explain their poster design and how it relates to the genre and writing style of the chosen book. The assignment aims to help students understand and demonstrate their comprehension of genre and writing style. Artistic ability will not be graded, but posters must be appropriate and follow school rules.

1. Genre & Writing Style Poster Assignment
What: A redesigned book cover based off of your knowledge on the genre and
writing style of the book, in the form of a poster. You will give a small presentation
(private or public; see me personally) where you present the poster, the book, and
why you designed it the way you did according the it’s genre and writing style.
Why: This poster will help you understand and comprehend genre and writing style,
while also showing me that you get it.
When: Over the course of this week you will work on the poster, with your mini
presentations due on Thursday. Each day you will have a little time to work on your
poster.
What you need to know:
1. YOU WILL NOT BE GRADED ON PRETTY ART WORK OR LACK THEREOF.
2. You will being picking your own book from the books we have read in class,
which I will list at the bottom for your convenience.
3. You MUST design the book cover based off of the book’s genre and writing
style, and be able to explain how you determined both.
4. You will follow school rules, and not design any crude, offensive, or
inappropriate book covers. If you do, it won’t be funny, and I’m going to call
your mother.
