Code Gurus created ASP pages, Perl CGI applications, and databases totaling 140 MB to support information dissemination, a member directory, and an online store for publications. Real-time credit card processing was integrated to handle online sales and shipping.

The National Park Foundation website allows customers to purchase annual national park passes online. The site has over 350MB of data stored across 22 database tables and is built on ASP, SQL Server, and custom VB applications. Upon checkout, customer information is captured and transmitted nightly to a third party vendor who mails the passes. The site also has an administrative section for managing promotions, orders, and reports. Code Gurus assisted in developing the active content, databases, and shopping cart functions for the National Park Foundation's park pass sales website.

It provides three functionalities: companies enter private funding data; members search and view matching companies; and administrators manage profiles and reports. Developed by Code Gurus using SQL Server, ASP.NET, and role-based authentication over 8 tables and 50 pages.

Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity server
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

Technology: IIS 5.0 ASP Perl 5 Oracle 8i Summary: The Public Affairs Council operates a website for the general public as well as it’s members in order to disseminate information, maintain a member directory for the use of other members and a shopping cart for selling publications. Full administrative functions were developed in order to track sales, adjust cart inventory and handle shipping and billing functions. Real-time credit card processing is supported. The membership directory databases are written in Perl using a custom designed database package. The membership directory was inherited from a previous vendor. Full text searching was also added to the site in order to search news items in the PAC library. Code Gurus assisted Triad Communications as the developer of all active content, databases, directories and shopping cart functions. Graphical design was performed in-house by Triad employees.
