Letter of Recommendation
28 April 2011
Reference. Mr Per Brolund
To Whom It May Concern:
Mr Per Brolund worked within my project (2010/2011) as designer to
promote sustainable rattan design approach and building capacities of
national rattan processing companies in Cambodia with the aim to assist
them to access international market attention. He has developed manuals
and systems to be used by the companies. He worked in collaboration with a
national designer and adapted very well to the local context.
He demonstrated fast adaptation and developed very good training material.
His design received great attention and helped companies to access
international market. He has good communication and inter-personal skills.
He showed that he can work in different environments and can adapt to the
situation and stress.
I am very pleased by Mr Per Brolund commitment and achievements.

“When I was a kid I did not have an Xbox but a sandbox. I did not play
with my friends online, we were playing outdoors. We did not have the Nin-

call me on my mobile phone .. they called my name from the open window.
I drank tap water, scraped knees and climbed trees and ... survived.”

JOYRIDE IS A SOAPBOX CART FOR AN URBAN ENVIRONMENT IN FORM
OF A FULLSCALE CONSTRUCTION KIT. IT IS A CART CONCEPT THAT IS
EASY TO ASSEMBLE YET CHALLENGING ENOUGH TO BE EXCITING AND
AT THE SAME TIME MAKE YOU A PART OF THE CREATIVE PROCESS.
NO TOOLS ARE NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE CONSTRUCTION. WHEN IT
IS DISSEMBLED, IT CAN EASILY BE PUT AWAY FOR CONVENIENT FLAT-
PACK STORAGE UNTIL NEXT SEASON.

Noah´s Ark - Emergency Radiation Protection Shelter
In Cooperation with NASA 2007
NASA WILL RETURN TO THE MOON BY THE YEAR
OF 2020. A SOLAR FLARE EVENT CAN KILL AN
UNPROTECTED PERSON IN A SINGLE BURST.
NOAH´S ARK IS AN EMERGENCY SHELTER THAT
WILL PROTECT THE LUNAR EXPLORERS FROM
THE HARMFUL EFFECTS OF RADIATION. IF THE
ASTRONAUTS ARE OUT ON AN EXCURSION
WHEN A SOLAR FLARE EVENT OCCURS THE
PRESSURIZED ROVER DRIVES TO PRE-DUG
BUNKERS AND SEALS THE HOLE BY LOWER-
ING DOWN THE CHASSIS. A SHELTER DEPLOYS
UNDERNEATH THE ROVER WHICH THE ASTRO-
NAUTS CAN ACCESS THROUGH ROVER FLOOR.
THE WATER AND FOOD SUPPLIES TOGETHER
WITH THE REGOLITH (LUNAR SOIL) ARE USED
AS A SHIELD TO PROTECT THE ASTRONAUTS
UNTIL THE DANGER IS OVER.
IN COLLABORATION WITH EMILIE HEDÉN AND ISABELLE OLSSON

EVERY KILO SENT TO THE MOON COST NASA AROUND 10 000 € SO IT IS OF UTTER IMPORTANCE TO ELIMINATE UNNECESSARY
WEIGHT. THE ROVER IS ALREADY CARRYING FOOD AND WATER SUPPLIES WHICH ALSO HAPPENS TO BE A GOOD ISOLATOR
FROM RADIATION. IN COMBINATION WITH THE RIGOLITH IT CAN BE USED AS AN EFFICIENT RADIATION SHIELD FOR THE ASTRONAUTS.

Ice Breakers - Relives uncomfortable silence
“It´s all in your head” was an exhibition at Designers Block,
Milano 2006, based on a workshop outside the compulsory
curriculum
IceBreakers is a project about human behaviour, cre-
ated together with Susanna Löfgren.
We explored superstition, everyday phobias, silly
habits and embarrassing moments that people come
across in everyday life. The challenge was to translate these
states of mind/ situations to design.
Almost every one finds it embarrassing when it becomes
total silence. You struggle to find a new topic, but in
vain…
Icebreakers is a product that has taken advantage of our
sense of smell, the sense which is most connected to memo-
ries. The package consists of small capsules prepared with
different aromatic liquids with easy recognizable and
specific scents. Each of the five capsules contains a unique
smell. When a capsule is dropped it brakes and releases
a characteristic aroma that can’t be missed, the smell
evokes memories and a conversation topic that both
parts can relate to is at hands.
