Landscape concept (phase 1)
The landscape concept is based upon the movement of water in its impact
form as it clashes on land. As water approaches the wave breakers, a slow
and steady pattern transforms into bold shapes that transpire into the
design and meander through the diverse spaces. As the main green space, the
linear park is initially hit by the wave breakers and is transformed into design
reactions. The design continues to mimic the sea through pattern
inspirations of its diverse forms and elements. Each space reflects the
movement, in accordance to the concept and its context, into four main
translations: bespoke elements, space generation, connections and diverse
softscape.

Flection concept (one of the 3 concepts proposed that i worked on )
Contemporary landscape with neatly arranged rectangular exterior
spaces. Paved front and rear gardens with a timber decked area
associated with a polygonal shaped pool. The organized simple palette
of plants help define the outdoor rooms gradually dissolving into
the property boundaries. The strong, angular floorscapecomplements
the rectangular spaces while also defining the spaces and elements.

Residential design villa - Riyadh
The Landsape matches the balanced modern architecture
design of the villa. The Landscape of the villa follows
a balanced concept that matches the lifestyle of Saudi
Arabia where the areas designed for men should be
balanced by the areas for Women, offering privacy for
both and blended in a harmonious way.
Landscape Team: Ruba Sharoure (Team leader, senior LA),
		 Leen Maraqa
Wadi Abdoun is located west Wadi
Amman, which is a land assembly located
to the southwest of the historic Hedjaz
Railway Station and to the northeast
incorporating the Roman Amphitheatre.
The strip, serves as the eastern
gateway to historic downtown Amman
for visitors traveling from Zarqa and
points beyond. The character of Wadi
Amman is defined by its location along
the seil that distinguishes the Wadis
from their surrounding communities.

Campus Design - AUB’s Ada Dodge Outlook -
The landscape design guidelines have
been organized into two major catego-
ries:
• General design guidelines applicable
to the entire campus landscape.
• Emergency vehicles will have access
to the campus through the vehicular
gates. From those points on the prima-
ry promenade system, emergency vehi-
cles will have access to all facilities
on campus. The pedestrian promenade
system is designed to accommodate all
emergency vehicles.

In the design , the architecture of the house
is interplayed with it’s surrounding land-

Individual phase- new design, concept and construction details- This phase included

DESIGN APPROACH AND OBJECTIVES
The forces and views around the site plays a role on the design. Interplay
the architecture of the house into its surrounding landscape. As the villa itself
is a semi-duplex, one part of it being for executive visitors and the other for
the dean herself, the landscape design around the villa should portray this in
some way. This is where all elements of the design are equally divided.
Therefore merging the softscape and the hardscape in a balanced way is
used to serve the concept.Regional + site conditions affects the manner in
which the visual balance can be effectively achieved on a project site. The
manner in which balance is achieved in the building should relate to the site
balance, in order to unify the building and the site.

The metropolitan
connection around
Beirut river
Constructed wetland treats water pollution it integrates
wastewater treatment, native revegetation and the creation
of recreational and ecological links between the edges of the
river. Additionally, creating a union pedestrian bridge towards
the mouth of the river to maximize the communication
between the riverbanks.
Reed bed species have the ability to transfer oxygen from its
leaves, down through its stem and out via its root system in the
gravel bed. This encourages micro-organisms that digest the
pollutants in sewage to colonise the area.

  • 1. LEEN MARAQA II BA of Landscape Architecture PORTFOLIO
  • 2. “An artist, he paints with lakes and wooded slopes, with lawns and banks and forest-covered hills.” Fredrick Law Olmsted Leen Maraqa- BA of Landscape Architecture This portfolio showcases work done during my years studying and practing Landscape Architecture at AUB and through work experience . Through this collection of work I share with you a glimpse of my adventure, as I learn the art and science of placemaking.

Experience at Dar al Handasah - Jordan Gewan Island (Qatar) phase i pre concept design (3 concepts done by 3 teams) Master plan ,Planting strategy, diagrams, renderings Planting Strategy, sections, boards and report phase ii concept design-Developing one option for the Island (I worked on the beach front and 2 beacch front villas, 2 water front villas an islan villa) phase iii construction documents,Sections, DETAILS, GRADING,Lighting (for all villas) Landscape Team: Muhamed sultan (Team leader, senior LA) Leen Maraqa, Mustafa najjar,Aya alali The landscape strategy combines three main aspects to form a homogeneous and unified design. Landscape Analysis Leen Maraqa PORTFOLIO I 1
  • 5. landuse Road typology Programs Landscape typology Bicycle & pedestrian connections Landscape concept (phase 1) The landscape concept is based upon the movement of water in its impact form as it clashes on land. As water approaches the wave breakers, a slow and steady pattern transforms into bold shapes that transpire into the design and meander through the diverse spaces. As the main green space, the linear park is initially hit by the wave breakers and is transformed into design reactions. The design continues to mimic the sea through pattern inspirations of its diverse forms and elements. Each space reflects the movement, in accordance to the concept and its context, into four main translations: bespoke elements, space generation, connections and diverse softscape. Leen Maraqa PORTFOLIO I 2
  • 6. CentrAl Spine concept (phase 1) Themes are taken from a combination of the natural elements of trees and water. Leen Maraqa PORTFOLIO I 3
  • 7. Beach villas (Type 1 and type 2) Flection concept (one of the 3 concepts proposed that i worked on ) Contemporary landscape with neatly arranged rectangular exterior spaces. Paved front and rear gardens with a timber decked area associated with a polygonal shaped pool. The organized simple palette of plants help define the outdoor rooms gradually dissolving into the property boundaries. The strong, angular floorscapecomplements the rectangular spaces while also defining the spaces and elements. Type 1 Type 2 Leen Maraqa PORTFOLIO I 5

  • 29. Residential Design - Visitors’ Executive Villa and Deans villa Individual design phase Individual phase- new design, concept and construction details- This phase included design and construction drawings such as Benches , Pergola ,Water feature , Curbs and DESIGN APPROACH AND OBJECTIVES The forces and views around the site plays a role on the design. Interplay the architecture of the house into its surrounding landscape. As the villa itself is a semi-duplex, one part of it being for executive visitors and the other for the dean herself, the landscape design around the villa should portray this in some way. This is where all elements of the design are equally divided. Therefore merging the softscape and the hardscape in a balanced way is used to serve the concept.Regional + site conditions affects the manner in which the visual balance can be effectively achieved on a project site. The manner in which balance is achieved in the building should relate to the site balance, in order to unify the building and the site. Leen Maraqa PORTFOLIO I 25

Landscape Planning - Quarantina Eco-park Site & Location Industrial area, towards the Norh of the Beirut River (the estuary) ● Phase I - Our team studied the acceessibilty and circulation of the river & its context - Teammates: Sara Chatila Loulya Halwani Serine Meneeim ● Phase II - Preliminary/schematic design Context Master Plan (Access points) The metropolitan connection around Beirut river Constructed wetland treats water pollution it integrates wastewater treatment, native revegetation and the creation of recreational and ecological links between the edges of the river. Additionally, creating a union pedestrian bridge towards the mouth of the river to maximize the communication between the riverbanks. Reed bed species have the ability to transfer oxygen from its leaves, down through its stem and out via its root system in the gravel bed. This encourages micro-organisms that digest the pollutants in sewage to colonise the area. Leen Maraqa PORTFOLIO I 27
