Business Modeling for Startups (Semantic Web Seminar, AIFB at KIT)Julius Parrisius
This document discusses business modeling for startups. It defines a business model as describing how a company makes money. A startup is defined as searching for a repeatable and scalable business model under conditions of uncertainty. The presentation discusses designing business models and testing them with customers to achieve product-market fit. It emphasizes getting customer feedback and failing fast through iterative testing rather than spending too much time on formal business plans up front. The business model canvas is presented as a tool to design, test, and communicate business models more effectively than traditional business plans for early-stage startups.

Business Modeling to Reduce Risk (at 10th Lean Startup Meetup Karlsruhe)Julius Parrisius
The document summarizes key concepts around business modeling and identifying risks for startups. It discusses identifying risks systematically by creating multiple business model canvases for different customer segments. The canvases should then be mirrored with others for feedback. Risks can be prioritized based on the stage of the product lifecycle and the three dimensions of risks - product, customer, and market. An effective process involves creating multiple canvases, ranking them based on cost/benefit, determining the product lifecycle stage, and prioritizing risks accordingly to help determine the next steps.
Dynamic Business Model Visualizations: Instantly Facilitate LIVELY Business M...Rod King, Ph.D.
The document outlines a framework for creating a 3-act business model plan using storyboarding techniques. It describes storyboarding as a way to pre-visualize sequences of action. The framework involves creating 3 storyboard scenes for the past, present, and future that each focus on a "Job-To-Get-Done". Each job is analyzed in a "Trade-Off Scene" to understand desired vs undesired impacts. Together, the 3 scenes and ultimate goal aim to solve a customer problem across short, medium, and long-term timeframes.

Bangladesh has a long history of indigenous shipbuilding dating back to ancient times. It was historically a center of shipbuilding in Asia between the 15th-17th centuries. While the industry declined, there are now over 200 shipbuilding yards in Bangladesh. The country sees opportunities to expand its shipbuilding industry due to growing global demand for small and medium ships that traditional shipbuilding nations are no longer focused on building. However, Bangladesh still faces challenges to become competitive in the international shipbuilding market, such as a lack of capital, technology, and skilled workforce.

The document discusses each building block and provides examples. It emphasizes using the business model canvas as a way to clarify ideas, get feedback, and iterate on the business model.
