Circularity :
The degree of thickening which is calculated by the cross sectional area of the fiber wall divided by the area of a circle of the same perimeter.
Theta :
Average circularity of the matured fibers also described as the degree of thickening.
Fineness (mtex) : Average fiber fineness (weight per unit length) in millitex. 1000 meters of fibers with a mass of 1 milligram equals 1 millitex.
IFC (%) :
Immature fiber content in percent. Percentage of fibers with less than 0.25 circularity. The lower the IFC% the better the fiber is for dyeing.
Maturity Ratio :
Maturity Ratio is the ratio of fibers with a 0.5 (or more) circularity ratio devided by the amount of fibers with a 0.25 (or less) circularity. The higher the maturity ratio, the more mature the fibers are and the better the fibers are for dyeing.

Spinning parameters
The following terms & definitions are used to describe and explain cotton fiber maturity.
Circularity :
The degree of thickening which is calculated by the cross sectional area of the fiber wall divided by the area of a circle of the same perimeter.
Theta :
Average circularity of the matured fibers also described as the degree of thickening.
Fineness (mtex) : Average fiber fineness (weight per unit length) in millitex. 1000 meters of fibers with a mass of 1 milligram equals 1 millitex.
IFC (%) :
Immature fiber content in percent. Percentage of fibers with less than 0.25 circularity. The lower the IFC% the better the fiber is for dyeing.
Maturity Ratio :
Maturity Ratio is the ratio of fibers with a 0.5 (or more) circularity ratio devided by the amount of fibers with a 0.25 (or less) circularity. The higher the maturity ratio, the more mature the fibers are and the better the fibers are for dyeing.

Elements of circular knitting machine
The circular knitting machine consists three major sections viz, yarn supply, knitting element and fabric take down.The needles are the most important stitch forming elements. They are displaced vertically up and down and are mounted into the tricks or cuts of the knitting cylinder.
The sinker is the second primary knitting element. It is a thin metal plate with an individual or a collective action operating approximately at right angles from the hook side of the needle bed, between adjacent needles.The knitting cams are hardened steels and they are the assembly of different cam plates so that a track for butt can be arranged. Each needle movement is obtained by means of cams acting on the needle butts.

This document summarizes research on the effect of machine parameters on knit fabric specifications. The research investigated cotton knit fabrics produced with different yarn counts, machine gauges, and machine diameters. The following relationships were identified:
1) Yarn count typically increases with machine gauge. Higher gauges accommodate finer yarns.
2) The diameter of finished fabrics varies with machine diameter and fabric grammage. At different grammage ranges, the relationship between machine and fabric diameters differs.
3) A constant, Kv, relates the VDQ pulley number, stitch length, and needle number. Kv depends on machine type and diameter. It allows for better selection of VDQ number based on stitch

Abstract : Non-absorbable sutures such as monofilament nylon sutures are widely used in surgical treatments. These monofilament nylon sutures are fabricated by complicated extrusion process. In this study, a 3D printer is used for the first time to produce monofilament nylon suture, which could be used for eyes surgeries and others applications. Sutures fabricated in this study have diameter various from 60 to 100 μm, with capability of holding up to 4N load, which is comparable to the ones manufactured from conventional monofilament extrusion process.
