4. A security community is a region in which a large-scale use of
violence (such as war) has become very unlikely or even
unthinkable. The concept of a security community is related to a
group of states that enjoy relations of dependable expectations of
a peace. Deutsch formulated two varieties of security
communities: amalgamated and pluralistic. While both have
dependable expectations of peaceful change, the former exists
when states formally unify, whereas, in the latter, states retain
their sovereignty.

5. A situation in which actions taken by a state to increase its own
security cause reactions from other states, which in turn lead to
a decrease rather than an increase in the original state’s
security. In international relations, the security dilemma (also
referred to as the spiral model) is when the increase in one state's
security (such as increasing its military strength) leads other states
to fear for their own security (because they do not know if the
security-increasing state intends to use its growing military for
offensive purposes).Consequently, security-increasing measures
can lead to tensions, escalation or conflict with one or more other
parties, producing an outcome which no party truly desires; a
political instance of the prisoner's dilemma.

6. How does constructivism view security?
As an idea shaping of the concept of human security, constructivism believes that national
interests are forged in the process of mutual interaction. The process determines the
interests and identity, and the identity constitutes the interests.

programs of military modernizations undertaken by ASEAN states and the resulting
prospects for an intra-ASEAN arms race, (5) uncertainty and strife caused by
demands for domestic political change, and (6) the dangers posed by transnational
(non-traditional) security threats. The conditions for ASEAN to build a mature
political-security community are also discussed.
