Like most busy people in today’s cyber-dependent society, I am guilty of accepting the terms and policies of many online social media applications and other services without ever studying the endless pages of legalese and jargon. This policy primer effectively highlights the main issues relating to Facebook user’s identity and privacy.
- Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities and Data Use Policy outline how the site can use users' content and personal information.
- While users maintain ownership of content they post, by agreeing to the terms, they give Facebook broad licenses to use, copy, distribute and sublicense content for any purpose.
- Facebook collects and stores users' information to provide services, protect rights, and for internal operations like data analysis, though this leaves users' personal information open to being tracked across platforms.
- Users should be aware that anything they post publicly on Facebook, including personal details, can be accessed and used in many ways beyond their privacy settings.
The document discusses the importance of gender sensitization and promoting gender equality. It defines key terms like gender, sex, and gender stereotypes. It explains how gender stereotypes can negatively impact both girls and boys by limiting their choices and potential. The document provides examples of gender discrimination faced by women globally and in India. It emphasizes challenging gender stereotypes and promoting gender equity and equality through education to build a just society.
Gender Sensitization refers to theories which claim that modification of the behavior of teachers and parents (etc.) towards children can have a causal effect on gender equality.
Facebook's terms of use allow them to use users' content and information in various ways. While users retain ownership of their content, Facebook can use it for advertising, providing location-based information to users and friends, and ensuring security. However, Facebook does not guarantee privacy or security of user information. Public privacy settings mean anyone can access a user's information. Even after deleting their account, Facebook may keep backup copies of a user's content and data for an undefined "reasonable" period of time. The terms also prohibit certain behaviors and reserve rights for Facebook to make competitive products.
The document discusses copyright and provides information about what copyright is, why understanding it is important for teachers, and how to properly attribute sources and use content with certain licenses like Creative Commons. It addresses questions around copyright infringements at schools and how to educate students on copyright. Resources are provided on copyright basics, fair use policies, and identifying proper attribution and permissions for reuse of digital content.
Photobucket was founded in 2003 as a photo hosting site that allows users to store and share photos online. It has since grown to become the largest photo sharing site with over 90 million registered users. Photobucket makes money through paid Pro memberships that offer additional storage space and features, as well as advertisements. While primarily used for sharing photos, Photobucket can also be used by individuals and businesses for photo storage, editing, and embedding in other websites and applications.
There are an interesting number about India's use of social media. What men prefer and what women, on social media? What amount of Indian population is on social media? etc. Don't know the source of the presentation, but it's really a brilliant piece of work.

LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like

How Race, Age and Gender Shape Attitudes Towards Mental HealthThinkNow
Mental health has been in the news quite a bit lately. Dozens of U.S. states are currently suing Meta for contributing to the youth mental health crisis by inserting addictive features into their products, while the U.S. Surgeon General is touring the nation to bring awareness to the growing epidemic of loneliness and isolation. The country has endured periods of low national morale, such as in the 1970s when high inflation and the energy crisis worsened public sentiment following the Vietnam War. The current mood, however, feels different. Gallup recently reported that national mental health is at an all-time low, with few bright spots to lift spirits.
To better understand how Americans are feeling and their attitudes towards mental health in general, ThinkNow conducted a nationally representative quantitative survey of 1,500 respondents and found some interesting differences among ethnic, age and gender groups.
Technology
For example, 52% agree that technology and social media have a negative impact on mental health, but when broken out by race, 61% of Whites felt technology had a negative effect, and only 48% of Hispanics thought it did.
While technology has helped us keep in touch with friends and family in faraway places, it appears to have degraded our ability to connect in person. Staying connected online is a double-edged sword since the same news feed that brings us pictures of the grandkids and fluffy kittens also feeds us news about the wars in Israel and Ukraine, the dysfunction in Washington, the latest mass shooting and the climate crisis.
Hispanics may have a built-in defense against the isolation technology breeds, owing to their large, multigenerational households, strong social support systems, and tendency to use social media to stay connected with relatives abroad.
Age and Gender
When asked how individuals rate their mental health, men rate it higher than women by 11 percentage points, and Baby Boomers rank it highest at 83%, saying it’s good or excellent vs. 57% of Gen Z saying the same.
Gen Z spends the most amount of time on social media, so the notion that social media negatively affects mental health appears to be correlated. Unfortunately, Gen Z is also the generation that’s least comfortable discussing mental health concerns with healthcare professionals. Only 40% of them state they’re comfortable discussing their issues with a professional compared to 60% of Millennials and 65% of Boomers.
Race Affects Attitudes
As seen in previous research conducted by ThinkNow, Asian Americans lag other groups when it comes to awareness of mental health issues. Twenty-four percent of Asian Americans believe that having a mental health issue is a sign of weakness compared to the 16% average for all groups. Asians are also considerably less likely to be aware of mental health services in their communities (42% vs. 55%) and most likely to seek out information on social media (51% vs. 35%).
AI Trends in Creative Operations 2024 by Artwork Flow.pdfmarketingartwork
Creative operations teams expect increased AI use in 2024. Currently, over half of tasks are not AI-enabled, but this is expected to decrease in the coming year. ChatGPT is the most popular AI tool currently. Business leaders are more actively exploring AI benefits than individual contributors. Most respondents do not believe AI will impact workforce size in 2024. However, some inhibitions still exist around AI accuracy and lack of understanding. Creatives primarily want to use AI to save time on mundane tasks and boost productivity.
Organizational culture includes values, norms, systems, symbols, language, assumptions, beliefs, and habits that influence employee behaviors and how people interpret those behaviors. It is important because culture can help or hinder a company's success. Some key aspects of Netflix's culture that help it achieve results include hiring smartly so every position has stars, focusing on attitude over just aptitude, and having a strict policy against peacocks, whiners, and jerks.

Google's Just Not That Into You: Understanding Core Updates & Search IntentLily Ray
1. Core updates from Google periodically change how its algorithms assess and rank websites and pages. This can impact rankings through shifts in user intent, site quality issues being caught up to, world events influencing queries, and overhauls to search like the E-A-T framework.
2. There are many possible user intents beyond just transactional, navigational and informational. Identifying intent shifts is important during core updates. Sites may need to optimize for new intents through different content types and sections.
3. Responding effectively to core updates requires analyzing "before and after" data to understand changes, identifying new intents or page types, and ensuring content matches appropriate intents across video, images, knowledge graphs and more.

18. and your intellectual property may live
on for a very long time if your friends
have stored your images and clips onto
their own devices.

19. Facebook does
give you options
on controlling
who you share
information with
through its
privacy and
application
settings,

However, if you
chose your account
to be publically
viewed by the world
at large, then your
intellectual property
will almost never die
as people you don’t
know can
manipulate and use
your images.
21. You must also be
over the age of
13 to open a
Facebook
account…

in essence, you start working for
them…

$1.8 billion in advertising revenue

27. you also grant Facebook the right to
receive and use your viewing data…
View a friend’s timeline or
send a message? They’ve got
it!
Search for a friend or use
their mobile app?
They’ve got it!

They’ve also got the
date, time and location of
any photos or videos you
28. And if that is not enough…
They can use your GPS to
let you know if friends
are in the area.
Oh, and they also use
information about your
friends for profiling.

29. Facebook also gathers your information
as well as your entire ‘friends’ list when
you connect to a game using your
Facebook account.

32. If you don’t like their Terms of Use and
Privacy Policy, you can at any time delete
your account…..and it will be
permanently deleted (you lose
everything).

33. Facebook will keep your information in
their servers for up to 90 days after you,
or they (in the event you have violated
your agreement), terminate your
account.

34. Any images or content you have shared
with friends (or the public) will remain on
their active Facebook accounts until such
time as they themselves delete their own
accounts.

36. So here’s a tip for busy
people...if you don’t have
time to read the fine
print…
Image: iStock photo 7314122
…try searching for
keywords like “waiver”,
“grant”, “license”,
“content” “advertising”,
“terminate” and
“privacy”
37. It’s now up to you…but remember
