Hatha Yoga is the perfect tool to help man evolve efficiently out of his animal tendencies into human qualities and then, to obtain transcendence into Divine realms of being. Yogamaharishi Dr. Swami Gitananda Giri taught his students the concept of “Four-Fold Awareness”. One must, he said, first become aware of the body. The Second Awareness is awareness of emotions, senses and energy. The Third Awareness is awareness of mind. And the Fourth Awareness is of awareness itself”. Good Hatha Yoga fosters deep awareness of the body inside-outside, right-side, left-side, to side, bottom side. The practices stimulate deep consciousness in every cell. This awareness “spills over” into an awareness of emotions, sensations, and energy, (prana flows). The awareness deepens into an awareness of the working of the mind, and how body, emotions, sensations and Prana are inseparably linked together. This deepening of consciousness enables the practitioner to direct the course of his own life activities, rather than be a victim of haphazard Karmic forces. Consciousness is the key to control and Hatha Yoga fosters consciousness.

With Chapter 7 we enter the second triad of Geeta describing "That" in the Mahavakya "That Thou Art". Here the Lord starts describing the "Goal of the Spiritual Science" the Supreme Self. In the beginning, Sri Krishna promises Arjuna that He would explain the entire science of Spirituality, both theoretical & practical aspects, to clear all his doubts. Then He proceeds to explain the two Prakrities, Para & Apara, of the Self. He describes the 8-fold lower Prakriti, the Apara, consisting of the 5 elements, Earth, Water, Fire, Air & Space, & mind, intellect & ego. Beyond all these is the Lords Para Prakriti, the Spark of Life, Pure Consciousness, which supports all life in the universe. The two aspects of the Self, as Purusha & Prakriti create the whole 'Jagat'- the world-of-change. The One Self forms the core of all life, & everything is hung on It as pearls in a neckless. Then the Lord describes Himself as the Dharma-the Law-of-Being of everything. All matter exist in the Spirit, but the Spirit is not in Matter. Matter is just Super-imposed on Spirit, to be alive. Maya with its 'Veiling" & 'Projecting' action prevents all from recognizing the Self within them.
In this Chapter Lord Krishna talks about renunciation of Karma & Sannyasa for one's spiritual development. After describing Karma-Yoga in the previous chapters, Sri Krishna describes here how one should intelligently renounce Karma & enter the nobler spiritual technique of meditation. This chapter is a bridge between Karma-Yoga & Pure Meditation. It describes: what is the spirit of renunciation & how the "Yoga-of-renunciation-of action" can be practiced.
Chapter 10, named Vibhuti Yoga describes the Power or Lordship & the Pervasiveness Or Immanence of the SELF. The essence in the world of plurality is the SELF. Here Lord Krishna identifies Himself as the most prominent & Chief Factor in all classes of beings, & as the Supreme Factor without which the different classes of beings, objects & ideas cannot exist. To give a glimpse of His pervasiveness & glory, Krishna gives 54 different examples from among
“Aptavani 4” is the fourth in a series of spiritual books titled “Aptavani”. In this series, Gnani Purush (embodiment of Self knowledge) Dada Bhagwan addresses age-old unanswered questions of spiritual seekers.
Param Pujya Dadashri offers in-depth answers to questions such as: “What is the definition of self awareness?”, “What is spirituality?”, “What are the benefits of spirituality and practice?”, “How can I experience a spiritual awakening, and what are the signs of spiritual awakening?”, “How may I attain spiritual enlightenment and lead a spiritual life?”
Pujya Dadashri also provides spiritual explanations regarding: “What is the meaning of ignorance?”, “Who am I?”, and “How can I experience the spiritual power of my pure Soul?”
For those seeking to learn how to become more spiritual, He explains that the knowledge of Self is the beginning of true spirituality. Upon attaining Self knowledge, one’s spiritual development begins, which eventually leads to ultimate liberation, or moksha.
Chapter 9 of Bhagavad Geeta, entitled "Rajavidya Rajaguhya Yoga" discusses the Royal Knowledge of Pure Consciousness, in whose light all conditioned-knowledge are made possible. Krishna Himself calls this Science of the Absolute "the most secret (profound) Science". It is promised in the beginning itself that both speculative & practical aspects of this Knowledge will be told here. Not only the theory of self-perfection but also the logic behind it all are discussed in this chapter. This is the profound Knowledge combined with experience, having known which there is nothing more to be known, & one shall be free from the sorrows of life.
Human body is the battlefield where this perpetual inner war is going on between the gods representing the spiritual or restraining forces and the demons representing the material bound natural inclinations. The seeker of Truth has to win this war if he has to regain his unity with the Universal Reality.
This chapter is an exhaustive handbook of instructions explaining the working of the subtle body & providing some tips to readjust ourselves when the inner mechanism gets chocked up. The One Truth expresses through a world-of-Matter, producing an innumerable variety of life forms. The reason for this multiplicity are the Gunas, Sattva (Unactivity), Rajas (Activity) & Tamas (Inactivity), all born of Prakriti. These three, in different proportions, influence the mental & intellectual caliber of every individual.
The word yoga is regularly deciphered as "association" or a technique for discipline from the Sanskrit word "yuj" (to burden or tie). A male expert is known as a yogi, a female specialist, a yogini.

Pratyahara - yoga teacher training course project work karuna yoga vidya peet...Karuna Yoga Vidya Peetham
Abstract:
Asana practice is often seen as the main element of yoga although it is only one part of it. The classical
yoga system, as described in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, has eight steps that can be divided into
external and internal yoga
Patanjali defines yoga as having eight components (अष्टाङ्ग aṣṭ āṅga, "eight limbs"): "The eight limbs of
yoga are yama (abstinence), niyama (observances), asana (yoga postures), pranayama (breath control),
pratyahara (withdrawal of the senses), dharana (concentration), dhyana (meditation) and samadhi
(absorption)
Patanjali describes yoga as “the progressive quieting of the fluctuations of the mind.” He then explains
that through dedicated practice and the cultivation of detachment, we will stop identifying with the
thoughts, feelings, and sensations that can cause us so much emotional pain—and we will open to an
experience of our true self.
Yoga is the neutralization of ego-directed feelings, because once these become stilled, the yogi realizes
that he is, and that he has always been, one with the Infinite – that his awareness of this reality was
limited only by his infatuation with limitation
As the fifth of the eight limbs, pratyahara occupies a central place. Some yogis include it among the
outer aspects of yoga, others with the inner aspects. Both classifications are correct, for pratyahara is
the key between the outer and inner aspects of yoga; it shows us how to move from one to the other
Pratyahara itself is termed asYoga,as it is the most important limb in Yoga Sadhana.

Practice of Yoga helps in getting better focus of mind. Meditation, being part of Yoga, teaches you how to focus better and achieve more from any activity. Dharana, which means narrowed focus on a subject by restricting Chitta (mind) is one of the 8 limbs of Ashtangayoga. It teaches you to get rid of all other thoughts from the mind and focus on the target. People have benefited enormously in terms of focus of mind by doing meditation (Dhyana) and Dharana throughout all ages.

The yoga sutras were the first known documentation of the arts of yoga.
Yoga means union, combining all parts into wholeness.
Sutra means thread or cord.
Each sutra is a drop of truth merging into the ocean of unity.
These truths are to be sung, chanted, reverberated, contemplated, danced,
and celebrated into all layers of existence.
2. Yoga Sutra 1
Ata Yoga Nusashanam
(atah~yoga~new~sa~sha~nam)
Now the Discipline of Yoga
Disciple of my lord
Living as me
The Guide
Through layers of existence
Live now
Enter in
Know eternity
3. Yoga Sutra 2
Yogas chitta - vritti nirodhah
(Yoga ~schitah~vritee~ni~ro~da~ha)
Yoga is the selective awareness of the waves of the mind
When awake
I watch
The dream of night and day
When awake
I choose
To live as radiating
All encompassing light
4. Yoga Sutra 3
Tada drastuh svarupe 'vastanam
(Ta~da~drash~tu~sva~ru~pay~vash~tanam)
The seer is established in his or her own essential and fundamental nature
The gold at the seat of the rainbow
A moving foundation
Knowing
I Am
All~ways at home
5. Yoga Sutra 4
Vritti-sarupyam itaratra
(Vritee~sa~rupyum~i~tara~tra)
In states of mind other than yoga,
the seer is identified with the waves of the mind
As parts of me dispatch and flee
Dreams go on endlessly
Company of asuras I keep
In sufferings and rebirth
Yet in an instant
I can choose anew
Re~membering
I Am free, gone, and beyond
Only as the One
6. Yoga Sutra 5
Vrttayah pancatayyah klistaklistah
(Vritya~pancha~taya~klistah~klistah)

and are painful or non-painful.
A pendulum the mind
Ability to live extreme
A pleasure and a pain
Great God within
Chose to know
All experience of all terrains
7. Yoga Sutra 6
Pramana-viparay-vikalpa-nidra-smrtayah
(Pra~manah~vi~paray~vi~kalpah~ni~dra~smar~ta~yah)
They are right knowledge, wrong knowledge, fancy, sleep, and memory.
I know
The truth within
The falsity of my lie
The wisdom from my process
Illusions flying in my mind
My karmas acting out in astral worlds
And my forever changing past
All are there for me to know, use, and grow
8. Yoga Sutra 7
Pratyaksanumanagamah prmanani
(Pratyak~shanum~anag~amah~praman~ani)
Facts of right knowledge are based on direct cognition, inference, or

Truth
Is that
Found within the well of you
Drunken till all is wet
& experiences
have paved the lessons
and the way
9. Yoga Sutra 8
Viparyayo mithya jnanam atad ~rupa~pratistham
(Vipar~ya~yo~mit~ya~janan~am~rupa~prat~ish~tam)
Wrong knowledge is a false conception of a thing whose real form does
not correspond to such a mistaken concept.
When the well is hidden
Mortal liquids still are found
Yet only divine nectar
Can quench a never~ending thirst
10. Yoga Sutra 9
Sabda~jnananupati~vast~sunyo vikalpah
(Shabda~janan~anupati~vast ~shunyo~vi~kal ~pah)
An image conjured up by words without any substance behind it , is fancy.
Oh words
That wander far from home
Picking up colorful delusions
As they stray
Truth awaits the real thoughts
Sent to form
From the eternal home
11. Yoga Sutra 10
Abava-pratyayalambana vrittir nidra
(A-bava-pratya-ya-lam-bana-vrit-tir-ni-dra)
That modification of the mind which is based on the absence of any
content in it is sleep.
There is a part
In me
That can live ignorantly free
A sleepwalking giant
Unaware
In duality & suffering
12. Yoga Sutra 11
Anubhata-Visayasampramosah smrith
(Anu-ba-tah-Vishaya-sam-pramosh-ah-smir-ti)
Memory is not allowing an object which has been experienced to escape.
My prisoner
Refusing to evolve
Journey to new
Until I release the past
Forgive, allow the now
Reforming my prisoner
Into the beloved true
13. Yoga Sutra 12
Abhyasa-vairagyabhyam tan-nirodhah
(A-biyasa-varigya-biyam-tan-ni-ro-di-ha)
The selective awareness of mental waves is brought about by persistent
practice and non-attachment.
How do I choose
The absolute of truthfulness?
Death of desires
And everything I knew
Immortality appears
And dawns the wishes which have always been here
In the blessed now
14. Yoga Sutra 13
Tatra Sthitau yatno bhyasah
(Ta-tra-Shtit-ow-yat-no-bi-ya-sah)

A quality of the beyond
The desire to be
An all encompassing self
This unity lives in me
I free this lord
Into now
15. Yoga Sutra 14
Sa tu dirgha-kala-nairantarya-satkarasevito drdha-bhumih
(Sa-tu-dir-gha-ka-la-nairan-tar-ya-satkar-ashi-vi-to-dir-dah-bu-mih)
Steady practice becomes firmly grounded on being continued for a long time,
without interruption and with reverent devotion.
Truth takes it's roots
Blooms & perfumes
With constant sun,
Watering, maintenance,
And love
16. Yoga Sutra 15
Drstanusravika-visaya-vitrsnasya vasikara-samjna vairagyam
(Drish-stanu-shra-vika-vish-aya-vitra-shna-sya-va-shikara-sam-jna-va-rigyam)
The consciousness of perfect mastery of desires in the case of one who has
ceased to crave for objects, seen or unseen, is Vairagya.
As the wishes
For worldly charms
And ideas of such
Be simple play
A yogi's inner garden blooms
All truth is cared for
Grown, ingested,
And showered out to others
This place of bliss
Heaven has an earthly temple
Inside this glorious vehicle
Known as me
