Digital divide creates gaps in digital literacy between those who have access to technology and the internet and those who do not. This can negatively impact education if digitally illiterate parents cannot teach their children about digital resources, and increases risks of cyberbullying targeting those without experience online. The digital divide also impacts the economy by resulting in a workforce that lacks digital skills. Potential solutions include seeking sponsors to provide technology to schools, convincing governments to expand public internet access in rural areas, negotiating lower data rates, starting early education on digital topics, and subsidizing internet cafes to make access more affordable.
