All Practices will be
outside
Safety Musts!
■ Keep 6ft spacing at all times
– When on breaks, drop off/ pick up, music practice, marching basics.
ALWAYS!
■ When not playing wear a mask
– Music masks are optional, some will be provided
– Bell covers forWind instruments
■ During cardio exercise masks may be removed but increase spacing to
8ft
– A face shield is suggested
■ Constant Handwashing!
■ MER Safety guidelines will be useless if outside of rehearsals students
engage in careless behavior.WEAR a MASK! Avoid social gatherings!
■ If you feel sick stay home!
Arrival
■ Students will socially
distance down the access
road on each curb, avoiding
the street/ black top.
■ Students may be dropped off
at arch and form line
■ Student drivers may walk up
from West lot and form line
■ Arrive 10 minutes before
scheduled practice
■ Be on time for pick up
Screening
■ Will include daily
temperature checks
■ Questionnaire Screening

■ Sanitizing
Required Materials
■ All students required to have face masks/ coverings- labeled with name
■ Flutes must have clear face shields- labeled with name- PROVIDED
■ IndividualWater Jug- Labeled w/ name
■ All students will have individual instruments and mouthpieces with clear
name labels, no sharing of equipment
■ All percussionists will have individual sticks and mallets in individual stick
bags
■ Color Guard will keep flags and rifles in individual equipment bags- labeled
with name
NEW NORMAL
Equipment
Storage/Retrieval
■ Students will carry instruments back and
forth from home.
■ Only large instruments such as tubas, Pyt,
and battery will be stored indoors
■ Color Guard will keep equipment in individual
guard bags and take/ return with them daily.
■ Traffic flow will be minimized to limit
students entering the rooms
Water Stations
■ Students will be required to bring full water jugs
and individual water bottles for refills.Water Refill
stations will not be provided.
■ No sharing of water jugs!!
Sanitation Procedures
■ Instrument maintenance
– Wind players should clean instruments every week. Follow
guidelines
– Wash mouthpieces daily
– Percussion andGuard will wipe down equipment daily
■ Hand washing several times throughout the day at designated areas.
■ Hand sanitizer will be provided, students should bring individual supply
■ Brass water keys will be emptied on “pee-pads” and disposed at the end
of rehearsal
■ Music stands will be assigned to the same group of students and sanitized
after practice
Schedules
■ Off set arrival and dismissal times
– Allows for screening and allows for spacing at pick up/ drop off
■ The schedules have been designed to keep students in smaller pods
– This allows for less cross contamination and contact tracing
■ Allows for spacing during transitions and breaks
■ Students will be divided by sections

Mondays:
Shift 1: 2:00pm-4:00pm (check in at
1:45pm)
Flutes (6), Clarinets (9), High Brass (10), Low
Brass (15), Pyt (10)
Dismissal 4:00-4:15pm
Shift 2: 4:35pm-6:35pm (check in 4:20pm)
Battery 1 (11), Battery 2 (9)
Dismissal 6:35pm (pick up in lots at 6:50pm)
Color Guard Mondays 2:10-4:10pm (Check
in 2:00pm)
Guard 1 PODS (15) based on tentative
number of responses
Dismissal 4:10pm
Fridays:
Shift 1: 3:00-5:00pm (check in at 2:45pm)
Saxophones (12)
Dismissal 5:00pm
Zones
All practices will take place outside
• In Stadium
• Under stadium bleachers
• In Quads
• Areas around auditorium
PODS will be in spaced zones
• In stadium and North Field
Marching Basics/ PhysicalTraining

ContactTracing
■ The calendar has built in quarantines with
Thanksgiving and Christmas Breaks
■ Cancellation of rehearsals, as well as the
possibility of PODS isolating for 2 weeks,
may happen with little notice as a result of
outbreak or knowledge that a coach or
performer has contracted or is exhibiting
symptoms of COVID-19.
■ Maintaining the integrity of PODS with
distancing and no mixing of students is vital
should a student test positive.
Voluntary Opportunity
■ This is a voluntary opportunity for students and families who are ready to include
activities into their lifestyle.
■ There is no penalty should students choose not to participate
■ Distance learning opportunities will still be available
■ Percussion and Color Guard class will continue to meet onTues/Thurs
■ Concert Band Class will continue to meet onWed/ Fri
■ Private and small group lessons will continue
■ POD rehearsals will be live streamed
