Justification of Location
Turks and cream will be located in a busy street in Grace Bay, Salt Mills
This location was chosen for three reasons
 For marketing and pull of customers and tourists advertising
 The area is always filled with customers from all over visiting the island and locals
just having a nice day out
 There are other nearby business selling handmade material from the island that
helps bring in more customers/consumers
4
Selection of Appropriate Labour

philosophy and application of the venture. The staffs involved with preparing the
scoop will be given knowledge about different ice-cream served in each scoop and
sundae.
The business will need skilled and experienced staff. There are total of 6 employees.
Here are the type of labour and there function.

necessary tools in the position to start working, does inventory and make sure the
place is cleaned and tidy for the next employee to start. Double check everything

before leaving.
 Drivers/Delivery 2 (Semi-Skilled) the business has 1 cargo van with two (2) workers,
one driving and the other is to load and unload. The importance of the drivers is that
they transport the product and distribute it out to the consumers/customers and by
the end of each day; they count everything in the storage and make sure everything
is accountable for out the store.
 Accountant 1 (Skilled) makes sure that everyone is paid on time and also that there
hours are counted for. Keep a financial record for the company and give financial
advice.
Reason for choosing this labour force is because it is one of the most suitable for this
kind of business.
5
Sources of fixed and working capital
The fixed capitals that source will be used in this business to fund: The building,
computer, the machinery and other equipments such as the refrigerators along with the
cargo van
The cargo van will be used to transport or to make a delivery of the products from Turks
and cream. In order to create this business, the entrepreneur will be using his personal
saving of $30,000 (US), $25,000(US) from the bank with an interest of 5% rate and
$25,000(US) from family members making it a total of $80,000(US) all put together.
The entrepreneur will be using the $25,000(US) from family members in order to keep
the business financially stable for the day to day operations of the business.
6
Role of the entrepreneur
An entrepreneur is an individual who bring together the factors of production (land,
labour, and capital) to produce a good and service that he/she believes customers will
be willing to buy, allowing him to make a profit from his investment. The entrepreneur
makes concepts which have a total responsibility for making decision making, bearing
losses, profits received and risk taking.
Functions of the entrepreneur in the business
 To bear all risks and to supervise the operations of the business.
 Organizes the store, help the employees and also provide special services for
customers.
 Developing proposal for the future activities of the business.
 Come up with capital necessary for the operation of the business.
7
Type of production
Turks and cream will not produce its own Ice-Cream. It will obtain its supplies from a local
company. It will only produce the waffle cones using the cone maker. Turks and cream will
basically present scoops and sundae that may be prepared in the front of the customers or
the customers may sit down at one (1) of the 20 seats in the room and get full service from
the cashier after placing their order.
Turks and cream will provide coffee, candies, milkshakes, soft drinks and pasties.
This item will be obtained from a local company; Grace Bay IGA supermarket.
8
Level of Production
Turks and Cream will be a domestic level of production that’s newly formed. Being in a
domestic level the business will neither import nor export. It’s very important for the
business to start at this level so it can aim and build its clients and the trust of its customers.
Turks and Cream will purchase its supplies locally since its starting at this level.
9
Quality control Measures
Two quality control measures the business will carry out are
 By keeping on update of products with expiration dates and the business will ensure
That product are not expired before it is used
 The use of the deepfreeze; to make sure that your products are properly stored in
order to prevent spoilage
10
Use of Technology
The business will
 Use internet access, cellular phones and text messaging to communicate with
delivery staff, customers and linked company
 Use computer to store data and allow customer to be able to place their orders
The technology will produce these benefits
 Communication will allow us to keep track of delivers, alert delays and take
appropriate responsible action
 The computer will host the business’s website on which customers will place
their orders
11
Linkage
The business will be providing goods and services to the customers/consumers. As the
business is not the producer of the ice-creams it hopes to form a backward linkage with
Grace Bay IGA Supermarket.
This linkage will be beneficial to Turks and Cream, because Turks and Cream will be able to
purchase goods directly from Grace Bay IGA Supermarket and thereby acquire them at a
lower price rate and cheaper rate.
12
Potential for growth
Internal growth
Turks and Cream hopes to become the most popular Ice-Cream parlour within the first (1)
year of it opening. It hopes to attract the most number of customers compared to any other
Ice-Cream parlour in the island. Turks and Cream will be infrastructural expansion in the
next 2 to 3 years. This expansion will not only include purchasing more goods, equipment
and machinery but expansion of additional rental space.
External growth
Turks and Cream also plans to open two (2) more branches in Providenciales (Downtown
Plaza, Five Cays) by the end of 2 years off it opening and one (1) in the capital of Turk and
Caicos Island (Grand Turk) within the next 4 years.
13
Government regulation
The business must be legally licensed to operate before it can be officially opened or carry
out any operations. This also consists of being passed by a health inspector. The health
inspector has to check both the hygiene of the environment and the employees.
This will have a huge impact on the business because in order to work with food you need a
healthy environment in which to operate and it will enhance customer confidence.
Secondly, the business will obtain a tax registration number, in order to pay taxes on time
and in the correct proportion/percentage as it is require by the government that all legal
operatinguntidy in the country or island should pay taxes. In doing this, the business will
have a good reputation; both in the eyes of the government and customers.
14
Ethical Issues
Strength
 The business is situated in the popular location: Grace Bay, salt Mills.
 The employees of the business are well trained, experience and qualified.
 The product is unique and original made from the highest quality Ice-Cream.
Weakness
 The business will not be able to offer enough parking spaces.
 Very high rental.
 Dependent on Grace Bay IGA Supermarket as a source for supply Ice-Cream and
other goods.
Opportunities
 Making Profits.
 Providing jobs for the unemployed.
 As Ice-Cream Parlour are popular, chances of expansion is higher.
 Turks and Cream will be self-promoted as a dessert join for the nearby restaurants
and other places.
