Groovy Options for Reactive Applications - Greach 2015Steve Pember
Performance demands placed on the web applications we build have drastically increased over the past few years. The Reactive approach has gained popularity recently for one simple reason: we need alternative designs and architectures to meet today’s demands. Speed is everything.
Reactive applications and Reactive programming are an alternative to the standard thread-based imperative programming model that can result in flexible, concise code. However, it can be difficult to shift one’s mind to think in Reactive terms. It doesn’t help that the descriptions around the web can be contradictory and the library documentation can be obscure.
In this talk, we’ll explore the concepts of Reactive and Reactive Programming. We’ll demonstrate some of the useful Reactive functions and examine some practical implementations – including how we’re currently using Reactive libraries in production code. Most importantly, we’ll look at some of the open source options available to us in the Groovy community, including Reactor, RxJava, and the Java 8 stream API. If Reactive is new to you, this should be an excellent introduction.

Tizen IVI continues making progress and sees adoption by multiple car manufacturers for the operating system providing the in-vehicle infotainment experience. Over the past year we have seen Tizen IVI mature a great deal as a Tizen product with support for web apps on Wayland, a sub-200MB footprint and components like systemd, Ofono, BlueZ, Connman, and other upstream components.
With the most recent Tizen IVI 3.0 M2 release new features include much better Bluetooth support, a variety of new web APIs exposed, Smack-based security, media player improvements, WebGL / video / CSS hardware acceleration, hardware acceleration of the camera and video streams, Genivi Layer Manager integration, Genivi Audio Manager integration, and the introduction of a Tizen IVI SDK. This latest release is running on modern versions of Mesa, Wayland with Weston, and the EFL libraries.
Going forward with Tizen IVI 3.0 M3 later in 2014 is an intent to be in compliance with GENIVI 6.0, AGL incremental requirements, supporting the Smack 3 domain model, multi-user support, and Crosswalk integration. Intel developers are also looking at possible Yocto support.

Why Innovation Itself Must Be The Next Big ThingAdrian Cotterill
My presentation entitled 'Why Innovation Itself Must Be The Next Big Thing' presented to the Taiwanese Digital Signage Multimedia Association (DSMA) at their annual digital signage forum during COMPUTEX TAIPEI Friday 7th June 2013
Scenario 1 (length as needed)You are considering auctioning a L.docxkenjordan97598
Scenario 1 (length: as needed)
You are considering auctioning a Leonardo Da Vinci original sketch. You entice four bidders to come to your auction. The bidders’ valuations of the sketch in decreasing order are $3.0, $2.2, $2.0, and $1.5 (in millions).
· If you used a second-price sealed bid auction, who would win and what would the winning price be?
· If you used a first-price sealed bid auction and the optimal strategy for the participants was to shade their bid by 20% and the participants used this strategy, who would win and what would the winning price be?
· Which auction should you choose to maximize your profit?
Answer the above questions if the valuations of the sketch are $3.0, $2.7, $2.0 and $1.5.
Scenario 2 (length: 0.5 page)
In the auction described above, suppose that you could entice additional bidders to attend your auction. However, none of the new bidders would have a valuation greater than $3.0 million. Despite that fact, you expect the amount that the winning bidder must pay to increase regardless of the type of auction you use (first- or second-price sealed bid). For each auction, explain why you would expect the auction price to increase. If you want, you may assume the valuations of the original four participants are $3.0, $2.2, $2.0 and $1.5 million.
Scenario 3 (length: 0.5 page)
Some recent Super Bowl advertisements have spent very little time mentioning anything about their product--or even the name of the company. In particular, the two-minute long Ram Trucks "Farmer" commercial had only a few brief and almost unidentifiable views of their product until the last ten seconds of the commercial. Further, the name of the company was only mentioned in the last five seconds of that commercial. Explain why this commercial demonstrated the concept of signaling described in the textbook. In other words, why should consumers be convinced that a Ram truck is of high quality because of the airing of that commercial?
Scenario 4 (length: as needed)
Suppose there are two types of people who need health insurance; high-risk and low-risk consumers. High-risk consumers have a relatively high probability of needing expensive medical care and on average incur $2,000 of medical expenses per year. The high-risk consumers would be willing to pay up to $2,500 for insurance that covers all their medical bills. Low-risk consumers would be willing to pay up to $1,500 for full-coverage insurance and on average would incur on average $1,200 in medical bills. Assume 1/3 of all consumers are high-risk and the remaining 2/3 of consumers are low-risk. Consumers know whether they are high-risk or low-risk. The insurance company knows 2/3 of all consumers are low-risk but cannot identify which consumers are low-risk.
1. If all consumers bought insurance, what price must the insurance company charge to break even in expectation? That is, what price must the insurance company charge so that the expected payments equals the premium?
2. Which consumers w.

Competition
The study of the competition scenario in an industry is an essential component of its
market survey and is a crucial factor in ensuring its success.
Economic Sector
A study of this sector concerns with demand-supply for products or projects. It also
concerns with the overall rate of economic growth, foreign exchange reserves position or
balance of payments position of the country, inflation rates, interest rates, and income
and consumption patterns of target customers
3. Explain Activity On Arrow (AOA) and AON network logic diagrams.
Answer:-The logic development in project planning is an iterative process. Initial logic
development starts after identification of the activities of the project and before
scheduling process occurs. The logic development process is further refined during
schedule development and optimisation. There are two common methods of logic
diagramming which are referred as network

• Contract Negotiation Techniques
The final stage in the vendor selection process is developing a contract negotiation
strategy. The worst contract negotiation objective is to bleed every last cent out of the
vendor for the lowest price. Remember, you want to "partner" with your vendor so that
both of you will meet your corporate goals and objectives by signing the contract.
Successful contract negotiation means that
5. MGF to develop mall for Delhi Metro TNN Aug 27, 2003, 12.03am IST NEW
DELHI: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has chosen MGF Developments to
develop what is envisaged to be Delhi's largest shopping mall at Khyber Pass.
3. The development includes creation of the country's first auto mall, housing a
majority or all of the country's automakers under one roof.
The net present value of the project, to develop 1m sqft of retail area across 5
hectares of real estate, is Rs 150-200 crore and is projected to generate an
internal rate of return (IRR) of 14%. The other two bidders for this project were
Spencer & Company (the developers of Spencer Plaza at Chennai) and Negolice
along with the Adani group.
According to DMRC's managing director, E Sreedharan, MGF has already made
an upfront payment of Rs 20 crore over and above the Rs 150-crore project
value. The contract agreement envisages an annuity payment of Rs 5.5 crore,
plus 5% of revenues for the entire 50-year concession period with an escalation
of 20% every three years in the annuity payout by MGF to DMRC.
With escalation, the annuity payment to DMRC at the end of the concession
period works out to about Rs 77 crore. The project is slated for completion in
four years, though MGF is attempting to launch the mall a year earlier.
MGF is looking to create a world-class integrated shopping mall with a 6-7
screen multiplex, food courts, 10 speciality restaurants, a large hypermarket,
3-4 department stores and an auto mall. The retail developer envisages a
promising average footfall of 15,000-20,000 a day, with weekend footfall of
approximately 50,000-60,000. Delhi University student traffic to the mall is
expected to be very high.
The primary catchment area for the mall consists of places like Shalimar Bagh
in the northwest to Ashok Vihar in the west, and Mukherjee Nagar in the north
to Civil Lines in the south. The average income in this area is estimated to be
around Rs 3 lakh. The secondary catchment consists of Punjabi Bagh, Rohini,
Pritampura, Janakpuri and PreetVihar.
According to a Jones Lang LaSalle survey, over 70% of the population travels to
the south for their entertainment. In terms of frequency of entertainment
activity, almost 53% go out once a week, 27% twice a week and very few
venture out more than twice a week. About 39% spend between Rs 1,000-2,000
and 53% spend less than Rs 1,000 a week on entertainment.
According to sources, MGF has already engaged a leading South African
architect for the project and is in the process of tying up its anchor stores.
