1- "Organizational behavior (OB) describes an interdisciplinary field dedicated to understanding and managing people at work. This includes self-management. OB draws on research and practice from many disciplines to deal with how people behave at work" (Kinicki & Fugate, 2016, Chapter Chapter 1, Making OB Work for Me: What Is OB and Why Is It Important?).
According to Kinicki and Fugate, organizational behavior is a self-discipline that can be brought out from a number of sources. Kinicki and Fugate explained a few behaviors in the workplace that can be of use. Some of the examples were management, ethics, vocational counseling and sociology. It is important for managers to be able to understand all employees at all times in oder to keep the company running smoothly. Organizational behavior is a key point to a manager's line of work. Communication is a key point for keeping employees on the right track, this helps the employees to work as effectively as possible.
Yesterday while being at work, a customer came into the office where I work asking about a deal that we were offering. Being unaware of this particular deal, I answered the customer by explaining that we did not have this particular deal and that I would be happy to look into it with the other two ferry lines if he would like me to so that he would be able to take advantage of this deal. After explaining this to the customer, one of the stock holders came out to the office and asked me to honor this deal. Once the customer left we got in contact with the lady that apparently set this offer up and asked her why no one told us about this offer prior to her leaving for a Fish! conference. She then explained that she forgot to inform us. This is an example where if the communication had been there in the beginning, we could have addressed the customer with a correct answer and been able to complete the transaction in a more effective matter. This manager at first did not have a clear understanding why we in the office, did not know about this offer until we explained that she forgot to tell us. There had been no organization with this particular situation, and I felt that it was very poorly managed.
2- According to chapter 2 Personal attitudes affect behavior at a different level than do values. With personal values they are stable long lasting beliefs about what is important to a person. They become standards by which people order their lives and make their choices. With personal attitudes, these are the mental dispositions people have towards others and the current circumstances before makes decisions that result in behavior. In the workplace it would be your personal attitude, because everyone has different beliefs and your personal values may be against the company’s policy. I recently had an argument with my head supervisor and to me I would say the re.

Please respond to the following:
Discuss the varying degree of ethics found in organizations you have worked for and how these cultures affected you and / or your work. Then, discuss how you know you are part of an ethical organization.
You have completed a report for your supervisor that outlines a problem that cannot be solved easily or quickly. About one week later the same report is circulated throughout the company that has been altered significantly. You suspect your supervisor made changes to undermine the severity of the problem. Do you have an ethical obligation to speak up? Discuss how you would handle this situation.

I have worked in many environments, from military to Starbucks to the government (both as a contractor and a federal employee). I have experienced many different levels of ethics throughout the years, good, bad and in-between. One particular office I can think of from a long time ago had a horrible degree of ethics, which really affected the office and how people interacted. The management of this organization proved to not be professional due to the fact that they believed anything certain employees would tell them. Proper investigation into rumors was not done, and people got moved around within the overall organization, which was frustrating to many. The management of this organization eventually made it so no one wanted to work their until they left, which wasn’t good for the quality of employees. When I went to training for the military I also experienced unethical behavior between instructors and others. Some instructors were not fair and others were teaching correctly. It became frustrating because some students got higher grades because their teacher practically taught the test. Fortunately I am now in a great organization where the management leads by example and makes a clear effort to ensure all employees have ethical behavior as well. I know that I am now part of an ethical organization because I trust my leaders and know that if an issue arises that they take care of it just like they should.
If I wrote a report and found that later my supervisor had edited to hide pertinent information to the issue at hand I would be ethically obligated to say something. It is not right that the supervisor tried to remove information to lessen the severity of the issue; this would need to be discussed with upper management. I would go to the boss of my supervisor and bring up the issue that the supervisor removed this information from the report.

There is a clear tendency to identify trouble makers based on individual’s perceptions or past experience. We often relate to someone else behavior, on single characteristics that are dominants. In other circumstances we are comparing behaviors in the same group assuming that all individuals belonging to that group shall behave the same way. This is forcing individuals to adapt their behavior in that group, not necessary producing the best outcome in term of performances or motivation.
In politics, business, and education, individuals need to be held .docxbradburgess22840
In politics, business, and education, individuals need to be held accountable for their actions. Unfortunately, too many people do not know what it means to be accountable. This chapter discusses the concepts of accountability and workplace relationships. The concepts of empowerment, responsibility, and accountability are all about personal choices. These personal choices not only impact how successfully you will perform at work but have a tremendous impact on workplace relationships.
In chapter 5 we discussed power bases and how workplace power affects politics and ethical behavior. Employees in the workplace have power. Unfortunately, many people in the workplace do not use their power appropriately or at all. As companies place an increased focus on quality and performance, correct decision making by employees becomes more and more important.
Empowerment is pushing power and decision making to the individuals who are closest to the customer in an effort to increase quality, customer satisfaction, and, ultimately, profits. The foundation of this basic management concept means that if employees feel they are making a direct contribution to a company's activities, they will perform better. This will then increase quality and customer satisfaction.
Consider the case of a manager for a retail customer service counter telling his employee to make the customer happy. The manager feels he has empowered his employee. However, the next day, the manager walks by the employee's counter and notices that the employee has given customers refunds for their returns, even when the return did not warrant a refund. The boss immediately disciplines the employee for poor performance. Didn't the employee do exactly what the manager asked the employee to do? Did the manager truly empower his employee? The answer is no. Telling someone to do something is different than showing someone the correct behavior. The employee interpreted the phrase "make the customer happy" differently from the manager's intention. The proper way for the manager to have empowered the employee would have been to discuss the company's return policies, role-play various customer scenarios, and then monitor the employee's performance. If or when the employee made errors through the training process, the wrong behavior should have been immediately corrected while good performance should have immediately received positive reinforcement.
When you, as an employee, demonstrate a willingness to learn, you have taken responsibility. Responsibility is accepting the power that is being given to you. If you are not being responsible, you are not fully utilizing power that has been entrusted to you. The concept of empowerment and responsibility is useless without accountability. Accountability means that you will report back to whoever gave you the power to carry out that responsibility. Employees at all levels of an organization are accountable to each other, their bosses, their customers, and the com.

I believe everyone has the ability to work hard if they are passionate about something and I think one should only work with what they are love. Hard work a.
Week 2How would you rate the managers in your company based on.docxmelbruce90096
Week 2
How would you rate the managers in your company based on the 5 functions of Management. How would you rate yourself on these Functions?
As I think of my direct manager I would love to give him a high rating, I simply cannot due to stated functions of manager. I would rate him below average at best.
Planning: We have never been given goals to accomplish from him for our current position. We have always come up with own objective and goals and we are required to follow and complete those. We are not checked up throughout the year to see if we have met or not met these said objective or goals.
Organizing, Leading, Staffing, Controlling: I think that since our manager does not have any means of creating a concrete foundation to manage his staff, these other functions will never work or be accomplished since the planning stages were neglected from the beginning. His current staff has little to no respect for him and only sees him as the “cool” manager to chit chat with. He has been with the company for 20 years and only speak of retiring and hoping we get “One more good contract so he that he can ride it out”.
I would rate myself rather low as well, due to not knowing the correct way to even begin advising or leading a team. I have not been encouraged to initiate, plan or engage in any process to build a more cohesive team. We work independently and are only responsible for what we are given by our District Manager who is based in San Diego.
What management skills do you now possess and which skills do you need to study and understand?
I think that I currently possess excellent Human Skills. I can speak well and confidently to anyone. I have always felt the need to encourage and develop others which is what I would like to start doing. If someone does a good job, I am the first one to let them know. I also can constructively critique others when they are going down the wrong path or need someone to guide them. I would live to improve upon my conceptual and technical skills.

What are the Social Responsibilities of a company and the management? Do they conflict with the responsibilities the organization has to the owners (in corporations the stockholders), their employees, and their business partners such as suppliers and marketing intermediaries?
The three approaches by businesses to social responsibility are resistance, being reactive, and being proactive. In the resistance approach, an organization fights to eliminate, delay, or fend off the demands being made on it. In the reactive approach, organizations wait for demands to be made and then respond to them by evaluating their alternatives. The proactive approach leads organizations to actively seek ways to be socially responsible. They continually look at their operations for ways in which to make them more environmentally friendly. They encourage their employees to be active in community causes. They look at the needs of constituents constantly staying in touch, sensing thei.

In the article of the 10 lessons parts 1 through 4 are compared to transformational leadership theory, and a bit of leader–member exchange theory. Transformational Leadership is about new leadership and getting rid of your multiple top members of your leadership can be a bad idea. Not only can this affect the future leaders, but also many of the employees. I was in a unit and they fired our Commander (CC) and our Director of Operations (DO), our unit was in a very low standard until we received our new CC and DO. Losing them at the same time was hard on them, because they had to gain our trust quickly and some of the advice they got wasn’t from the best of other employees. Replacing one at a time is better for many reason, but mainly for continuity and to give the employees time to adjust and adapt to their new leader. The leader–member exchange theory is shown in 1 through 4 because when you have a great relationship with your previous boss, it can carry over with what they say about you. In the military when the new leaders come in to the unit the higher-ranking members normally go over the members of the unit and give an insight on the member. This is usually a good thing and also sometimes can be a bad thing based on the relationship that you made with the leadership.
In 5 the Great man theory is present based on getting the right man for the job. This theory is part of the trait approach, so giving a person a job that he excels at is better than a person who doesn’t have the right qualities for the position. I am not a very good writer and organizer, so being an assistant or secretary is not a good job for me. My wife would be great because she is very organized and can write very well, she would be the better fit if we both went for a position.
For 6 through 10 the leader–member exchange theory could be close to these. Your relationship with your people will open you up to want to know more about the culture and make it right within your area. With 7-9 the trust that you get is giving each member a special relationship with them. This is built on trust and communication with these members. Telling the truth is pivotal to the relationship with the unit or company that you lead. I was in a meeting and a fellow Airman told me that his Commander failed his physical fitness test, and he got up and told his unit that he failed them and couldn’t not continue to be in command until he was fit. My friend had great respect for him because I am sure that was very hard to do. When you are in a leadership position keeping communication limited is key. How many times have you heard people in leadership positions spreading gossip? I have and that makes me stay away from them and not want to tell them. 10 is difficult because sometimes you may not know your leadership is changing. Being myself in a leadership position, I also use my relationships to train others to do my job in case of an absen ...

Currently, I believe I lead a few people at work because I used to do their jobs and I know how to do them best, however, I believe that because of my work ethic and my willingness to help everyone makes me successful in my current position. 3 of 7 secrets from the article" 7 Secrets of Servant Leadership" that will help me be successful going forward after this class include Listening intently and observe closely, demonstrate persistence, hold myself as well as others hold accountable for commitments. Within this class I’ve stated my leaders hear, but do not listen. I need to take my own advice and ensure I listen to make changes when needed. I’ve also complained that the leaders within my organization do not make changes after receiving complaints, instead of giving up so easily, I need to remain persistent to show my colleagues that anyone within the company can perceive and make a difference as Economy (2015) states leaders serve their people. I believe I already do a good job of holding myself accountable (my mother ensured I have too much catholic guilt built in) however, I do not give other the chance to fail or hold others accountable. It is important to allow my colleagues to fail or to ensure they are held accountable because they will learn and grow.
Part 2
After reviewing the “Tony Robbins Create a New Story” (Hamilton 2013) and after taking this class, I have found that I need to improve my communication skills further as well as continue to step out of my comfort zone and lead from where I am within my organization. I need to improve my communication skills because I am an introvert and have anxiety issues around group functions where others have no issues and actually enjoying and participating in these activities.
To answer the videos question, I’m very happy with life in general. I am in a very supportive and happy marriage, I have a very sweet and happy two-year-old son, I have a job that I don’t hate to go to everyday and generally enjoy the company of many of my co-workers. However, I have failed as a friend, it’s hard for me to keep up with social functions due to my introverted ways. I also am working to make more time for myself, and my body, however I’m 20 weeks pregnant so I’m not going to be able to do anything about that any time soon. I believe I am happy because I have worked toward making my life with what I always wanted it to be. However, one thing I did not achieve in my life “blue print” is obtaining my degree. I’ve noticed that the younger generation has finally caught up with me in education. I put off going back to school for eight years and recently we hired a front desk person that has a bachelor degree. With this aspect as well as my 30th birthday rapidly approaching, I decided to go back to school my only regret is not going back sooner, however my employee just recently offered tuition assistance and I am unsure If I would be able to afford it without this assistance. In being asked what is the one problem that I am being faced with is getting my spouse to communicate. A. What life lessons, skills, and values are central to your current success? What role models or mentors helped you learn those lessons, develop those skills, or assume those values? In what ways are you like them?
I find that I am an honest and caring leader who values efficiency. I can project trust to my superiors and my subordinates, I have the gift of project confidence to others, and after I realized this quality in myself I have been trying to master this gift.
I don’t think I had a mentor in my life that influenced the leader I become. The closest was a German Physician with the worst rigid character I’ve ever seen but the nicest person after work, I notice than in general the people who work with him, dislike his behavior but at the same time value his company after work. I notice that his great character for issues beside work, were more valuable for people than working with him, and his temper was tolerable for that.
I had learned more reading about great leaders from history than from mentors. The history of civilization goes around politics and diplomacy and the great business leaders of history as Alexander the great, Napoleon, Lincoln, Roosevelt, JP Morgan, Rockefeller, Tesla, Ford, Steve Jobs and the list may go on. All this great men has influenced my life more than any other human alive.
B. Which bosses have made a lasting impression on you? What did you learn from each? How does your managerial style reflect that?
I have learned more from co-workers and their interactions with subordinates, than from my former bosses. Every one of them has positive management points, but in general I can’t think of any who left such a positive impression that change my style. For the other part I had a great boss, excellent human been who micromanagement everything, the lesson I learned from him was not to do it ever to the people who work for me. I learned how micromanagement neutralizes employee’s intellectual growth; affect the person’s overall emotional evaluation of his or her own worth. Additional to this put more pressure to the leader who overworks for issues that should be delegated.
At the time I was attending for Emergency medicine, I learn from a colleague how, to project calm under pressure make your team confident, efficient, and respectful. I learned from another colleague, how to be human and caring without be taking as a soft boss, in fact he amazed me how been very pleasant at the same time was very strict for work matters.
My managerial style is reflected in how my staff respect me as a boss, they appreciate that I fully support them. I am invited to more meetings that I should be because people enjoy my comments and suggestions, in general people that work with me, appreciate me. I know it because after I leave different positions in my professional life, most of my former staff keep in touch and care about me.
C. What roles have you held over the course of your career? What skills brought you reco ...
My classmate writes for me to answer. I need to answer him and he.docxMARRY7
My classmate writes for me to answer. I need to answer him and her can you help with these question?
1- Brain posts this one for me to answer him. It seems that you have the highest score amongst us all, which would explain your line of work. Having your own company would require for you to be at the top or close to it. An extrovert has the ability to make it very far in life, because they have the ability to shine, or take over a room, which is needed. Companies want a person of that nature; I look for it all the time when I conduct interviews.
2- Anna posts this one for me to answer her. I would say my personality is strong and sensitive.
I am currently working at a "scrap company". We have a shredder, which means we recycle metals and ship them to the mills. My organizational environment has shifted. We used to be calmer and never worried about our jobs. We were treated nicer than we are now. Our president of the company retired and the vice president took his place. When this happened things changed for the worse.
One of my traits that do not work in an organizational culture is my emotional stability. I know things bother me more than other people. This trait gets in my way a lot. My second trait is extraversion. This trait gets me in trouble if I talk too much when I work.
The effect that an organizational culture might have on the personality traits are trying to be someone you are not. Sometimes we have to act and be a certain way in the workplace. This is a hard thing to learn sometimes.
Brian posts this for me to answer him. It seems as though I am well rounded based on my score. With my lowest score being an extrovert and my highest score in openness to experience, I believe these are good qualities to have so you can influence an organization. The need to be an extrovert in an organization is a plus if you want a promotion, as it can be seen as a soft skill. Being open to experience can help a company grow, and reach place it wouldn't think it could reach. It allows people to continue to learn and grow. I have worked on property management for the last eleven years on the operations side. Working in my line of work, you need to be well rounded in order to succeed, because we wear many hats daily.
Can you reword these answers for me in your own words? DO NOT use the same words as in the sentences.
A- Neema,
Your score does show that you are well rounded, which most project managers are because they have to. They have to be able to manage any project or team they are assigned to, if your scores had a big difference between them, I think it would affect you at your job.
B- I found this video to be very interesting because I had never thought of it that way. I do show that it is possible to change behavior to improve the environment of the workplace. It is very nice to work in a workplace where everyone works in harmony. When you get that person who doesn't want to work with others nicely it not only creates ...

Running head: Leadership Practice Paper
Leadership Practice Paper
Leadership Practice Paper
Becoming a good leader is difficult. Good leaders influence a company’s performance, culture and profit. So how to be an outstanding leader is this paper’s primary objective. A good leader not only can inspire action which encourage employees achieve their goals, also needs good communication skill. Let me start with the five practices of exemplary leadership, which are model the way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act and encourage the heart. (Kouzes & Posner, 2012). These five methods suit for anyone who wants to be a leader.
Model The Way
Before a leader lead other, he needs to identify the core values. What you can bring to your team or corporation? How you share you values and goals to your workers? When clarify this question, you can start you work then. For example, if leaders realize their core value is earnest attitude and focus on details to the work, share the goals to workers. When they work in daily life, the employees would know their leader’s attitude and goals in work, then they will use the same attitude to learning and try to achieving their goals.
Before become a credible leader, we need to clarify our values, the first step to clarify values is find your voice. You can explore yourself, what you really are, what’s your really care about. Your values effect your life, let your values guide you (Kouzes & Posner, 2012). Say it in your own words, when you express you though with others, you need use your own voice which can convince others and make them listen you carefully. Build organizational commitment can make employees feel more feelings of belonging. The higher of clarify of personal values, the higher of organizational values (Kouzes & Posner, 2012).
Live the shared values and teach others to model the values are two aspects of set example. Leaders could express their values and standards to workers. The co-workers watch their leader’s each action, each choice they make, every word they said, all influence employee’s thoughts, action, behavior and attitude. Let’s focus on details, the primary thing is knowing how to spend time and attention wisely, leaders always know what to do most of time, what kind of things we need to put more attention. Also when we talk to employees, try not use display your status and position’s words. Such as employee, boss etc. that would make you became part of your organization, no distance between leaders and workers. For example, I know a leader who is really nice person. She respects every employee whose work for her, they look like a team, leader set a goal for organization, they put effort together and success. Ask purposeful questions can make employee know what’s leaders concern, what leaders really want. Seek feedback is a method make leaders know what they did is g ...

Example 1
One of the most interesting concepts and ideas about behaviors in organizations that I personally could relate to as a student is motivation. In my opinion, motivation is one of the main reasons I’m able to keep going when studying. Organizational Behavior explores this topic and looks at it in different perspectives where it makes it easier to comprehend and implement. Parijat & Bagga (2014) have mentioned in their motivation theory research article that motivation in private or public enterprises is mandatory. It was also mentioned that “Humans are basically psychological beings and need inspiration whether extrinsic or intrinsic for achieving organizational as well their personal objectives and goals.” (Parijat & Bagga, 2014, p.1). If you compare two pieces of work, one done by a motivated person and the other done by a non-motivated person, you could easily notice the differences between them, the motivated one being more put-together and presentable, the other looking less interesting and rushed.
Example 2
This essay is a reflection of my learning throughout the organizational behavior course. I will be focusing on the topic attitude and job satisfaction which will split into three sections. The first section aims to discuss the knowledge gained during the course, the second section will focus on the ideas and concepts of behaviors with organizations. In the last section, I will discuss the difficulties I have faced throughout the course.
Example 3
On the other hand, The ideas and concepts about behaviors with organizations have made me relate to my personal life. One of the positive learning outcomes is that when I had the experience to become a vendor in an event. I have faced many problems, one of them was being bound to encounter angry customers. My behavior toward this problem while the angry customer was talking, I was attentive listening and understanding their feelings and point of view, later I apologized and tried to find a solution. The negative concept that is related to my personal life is during this pandemic crisis I am restricted from the freedom that made me stuck in a very limited space and this resulted in my stress and became very nervous. Therefore, I acknowledge that stress and nervousness are behavior to my attitude. I have faced one difficulty throughout this course which was not knowing the differences between attitude and behavior. This difficulty turned into beneficial knowledge ...

POL 123 – Case Analysis 5 Fact Patterns Write an analysis for .docxLeilaniPoolsy
POL 123 – Case Analysis 5 Fact Patterns
Write an analysis for each scenario below. See the Case Analysis Instructions for further information about completing the assignment.
1. Jonas is 18 and recently finished high school. He lives at home with his mom and dad. While collecting dirty laundry in his room one day, Jonas’ mother discovered some of Jonas’ clothing with dried blood on them. She also found a bloody survival knife and muddy boots under his bed, as well as a bracelet that said “Lynn.” A few days earlier, police had discovered the missing body of Jonas’ high school sweetheart, Lynn, in the woods. Lynn had recently broken up with him. The medical examiner had determined that Lynn had died from repeated stabbing. When Jonas had been questioned by the police at the station, he claimed he knew nothing of the incident, and the police have no evidence tying Jonas to the disappearance or murder. Analyze these facts using ethical concepts or concerns from Module 8. (You are not evaluating elements of murder, or due process issues for example.)
2. District Attorney Schultz has brought charges against three players of the University football team. They have been charged with raping a stripper at a party attended by team members. The case has received much publicity and the media have discovered that the three players have a history of violence towards women. (Last year, two other women claimed they had been raped, but the cell phone video showing the forced sex had been excluded based on an illegal police search, and the players were found "not guilty.”) Shultz believes these players are guilty, and has given approximately 60 media interviews on the case. Schultz has also been campaigning for reelection, and a conviction here would go a long way. Unfortunately for Schultz, the DNA tests he ran do not match any of the three players to the victim’s assault. When he questioned her about this, the victim made contradictory statements, and she had no other evidence to corroborate the events. In fact, while her statements confirm that they raped her, she admitted to having consensual sex with two other men at the party, which weakens the case. Schultz decides to not tell anyone about the DNA results unless asked, and instructs the victim/witness to deny the other sexual encounters at trial. Analyze these facts using ethical concepts or concerns from Module 8. (You are not evaluating elements of rape or due process issues for example.) Assuming that Schultz had a strong belief that the defendants were guilty, include in your analysis whether this affects the moral and legal permissibility of his conduct.
3. Michelle worked two jobs as a security guard in Phoenix, Arizona. She was walking outside the building where she works at 6:30 AM, Monday, when two bundles of money fell out of an armored truck en route to a bank. Inside the bundles was approximately $500,000. Michelle had an inheritance that would post to her bank account on Wednesday. She .

Instructions
This document serves two purposes. Firstly, it is a template for the Method section. If you use this document to create your Method section without changing the formatting or deleting section headers, you should have a correctly formatted Method section. You will obviously need to replace much of the text here with your own writing, but leave the section headers untouched and follow the directions and you should be good to go.
Secondly, the text within the body of this document offers advice and suggestions on what to write within each section. They are intended to help you make sure that the appropriate material appears in the appropriate sections. This is text that must be replaced by your own writing, but you should find it helpful.
A final bit of advice: the Method section is like a recipe’s instructions. A recipe lists the ingredients needed very precisely and comments on possible variations (if one is at high altitudes, cooking time may be longer, etc). Similarly, the Participants, Materials, Measures, and Ethical Considerations sections list the ingredients and important issues for the research study very precisely. A recipe will also give the step-by-step process of how to create the dish, just as the Procedure gives step-by-step instructions on how to do the research.
This instruction page should be deleted entirely.

Participants
Begin this section by talking about the population of people that will be needed for this study. Indicate anything necessary to permit the reader to know what sort of person is needed: do they have a disorder? Does it have a specific severity or range of severities? Is there an age range? Are factors such as gender, race, first language or others important or controlled?
Will there be any screening done, such as a questionnaire or a performance test? Will the results of these determine whether a potential participant is eligible to take part? Will these results determine which level of the predictor variable that the participant falls into? For example, if the person has an autism spectrum disorder, an assessment might be made to determine the severity of the disorder in order to classify them as mild, moderate, or severe for the purposes of the research study.
How will the participants be recruited? One can’t simply say: “They will be r.

Prepare:Prior to beginning your reflection, review all course readings and videos as required.
Reflect:The U.S. national government is based on the framework detailed in the U.S. Constitution. The process that the Founding Fathers used to map out our national government is fascinating and illuminating. The Constitution creates a system of checks and balances and separation of powers that have been focal points for class discussions. In addition, the Constitution identifies three main branches for the national government: the legislative, executive, and judicial, which are tasked, respectively, with the creation of the legislation to guide the country, the implementation and execution of that legislation, and the review of that legislation for constitutionality and legality. Interacting with the federal government includes a variety of different actors and political processes such as the states, political parties, interest groups, and federal elections. All these features create a vibrant and healthy democracy.
Write: In your initial post of at least 200 to 250 words, explain how and why one feature of the U.S. government is the most important for America’s democracy. Choose one feature below to discuss in detail:
· Written, detailed, flexible Constitution.
· Robust checks and balances.
· Explicit separation of powers.
· Expansive interaction by different political actors and processes with the federal government.
Use real-world examples and details to support your arguments. Support your position with APA citations from two or more of the assigned resources required for this discussion. Please be sure that you demonstrate understanding of these resources, integrate them into your argument, and cite them properly.

Stanley my role model
The secret to a healthy life is the feeling of love and peace. Affiliations in our everyday lives play a very crucial role. They serve to satisfy our social needs of being associated with other people and our needs of love. Sages put it that "Blood is thicker than water". A person's relatives serve a great role in their life. These are the people who never leave us in our ups and downs. They indeed are good friends through whom we are bonded by blood.
Stanley is a great friend and a brother to me. He is a person of sound character who quickly mingles with anyone in the society. He is down to earth in making and a composed young lad who does not rush to drawing conclusions when challenged by daily circumstances. His charisma culminated with his education moves all and sundry in subscribing to his viewpoints. Whenever there is need for imparting a young mind with information he does so without hesitance. He is a great source of inspiration and motivation. Stanley's character is worthy emulating. I dearly love and admire him.

Amanda and Dr. Ryan standing in Dr. Ryan’s office.
Dr. Ryan: Hello. It’s good to see you again.
Last week we saw how the bureaucracy and the judiciary functioned within the federal government. This week, we’ll assess how domestic, foreign, and military policies are integrated.
What do you think about these policies, Amanda?
Amanda: This is an immensely broad set of subjects, Dr. Ryan, so I hope I can do them justice.
Dr. Ryan: Well, Amanda, go ahead and give it your best shot.
Amanda: Okay, here I go.
I think we could begin by defining institutions as systems that help form a government and make it function. They include the armed forces, the church, the executive office, the bureaucracy, the judiciary, the voting public, the economy, and the political process itself. If institutions are strong and respond to public’s will, then the government will function smoothly.
But they could also be extractive. This is when they are used by elites to extract resources for their own benefit. Extractive institutions cause the state to be weak.
Slide 3
Interaction Slide
This will be a tabbed interaction that outlines ways of changing Social Security policies in the U.S.
Social Security could:
· Raise the retirement age
· Reduce benefits for high earners
· Raise taxes
· Increase wage cap
· Individual Investments
Button 1: There are several ways that the government could ensure that Social Security continues to support retirees in the U.S. The first way would be to raise retirement age until 70 years old, so that the long-term funding gap would close.
Button 2: The government could also reduce benefits for high earners, by cutting their monthly funds by about ten percent.
Button 3: Taxes could be raised from twelve-point-four percent to thirteen-point-four percent, so as to cover the ever-increasing cost of social security.
Button 4: Increasing the wage cap would mean that workers would pay Social Security taxes on a greater amount of what they earn.
Button 5: Finally, the government could let individuals invest some or all of their Social Security funds into approved, safe mutual funds.

Now, can you see how this applies to our own government?

Part 1
I am already wor ...

POST1
In being asked what is the one problem that I am being faced with is getting my spouse to communicate. In the past I, didn't know how to communicate as I was always taught that my opinion doesn't matter. I am from two cultures Iranian and Indian where females are taught to speak when spoken to and that the husband or male figures in the house who opinion matter.
Divergent thinking refers to a way to solving the problem wherein a variety of possible solutions are proposed to find one that works. This contrasts with convergent thinking which relies on focusing on a

number of solutions rather than proposing multiple solutions (study.com).

the following five solutions are ways that I feel can help with my current situation:
Learn to listen without always interrupting as this may make her feel as though what she must say is not important.
Stop expecting her to react the way I would or to communicate the way I do. We are individuals. It took me time to communicate so I should give her time.
Stop expecting her to change overnight.
Make her feel that what she must say does make a difference
Conduct an assessment that will help us determine how we like to communicate and from there we will understand how one another communicates best
In reading our required reading Principles for divergent and convergent thinking, I can say that I have learned a lot about divergent and convergent thinking that I feel will help me not only in my personal life but in my professional life. Per such reading, it gave four key principles to effectively enhancing divergent thinking. Those principles are Defer judgment, go for quantity, make connections and seek novelty (

LDP A. What life lessons, skills, and values are central to yo.docxDIPESH30
LDP

She .

POL 201 Week 5 DQ 2

Developing Strategic Leadership In The Public Sector
Stakeholder Analysis

Introduction
Sustainable development is dependent on the effective function of the public institutions. The public institutions shape the living standards of the people. When the public institutions are successful the people have high quality services raising their living standards. It is Essential for organizations to identify the public who affect or are affected by the organizations decision. An organization cannot function alone and it requires the support of all the stakeholders. A critical element of developing strategic leadership is the analysis of the stakeholders. It helps to determine how to strengthen the relationship for optimum gain (Joyce & JOYCE, 1999, p. 32).
There are two broad types of stakeholders, internal and external stakeholders. Internal stakeholders impact the organizational function from within. For instance, employees and board members are internal stakeholders. External stakeholders influence the organization from without. Examples of external stakeholders are communities and the media. They have a stake in determining the value of the organization. The level of influence, amount of power, level of interest and capabilities of the stakeholders vary (Marr & Creelman, 2011, p. 79). They have strong, moderate or low influence and interests in the organizational function. Some are highly active while others are latent and apathetic. It means that the stakeholders cannot be treated equally in any given project. The have to be classified into different categories through stakeholder analysis. Classifying them helps the organization to develop successful strategies for enhancing the relationships (Joyce & JOYCE, 1999, p. 34).

A type of mixed studies model is an integrated design (Sandelowski
et al., 2007), which can be used when qualitative
and quantitative findings in an area of inquiry are
perceived as able to confirm, extend, or refute each
other. In an integrated design, studies are grouped not
by method but by findings viewed as answering the
same research question. The analytic approach may
involve transforming the findings (qualitizing quantitative
findings or quantitizing qualitative findings) to
enable them to be combined. A particularly sophisticated
variant of this model is to use a Bayesian
synthesis, as exemplified in a study in which
p. 676
In drawing conclusions about a research synthesis,
a major issue concerns the nature of the decisions
the researcher made. Sampling decisions, approaches
to handling quality of the primary studies, and analytic
approaches should be carefully evaluated to
assess the soundness of the reviewers’ conclusions.
Another aspect, however, is drawing inferences about
how you might use the evidence in clinical practice.
Examples of critique:
Example 1: A Meta-Analysis
Study: Meta-analysis of quality-of-life outcomes from
physical activity interventions (Conn et al., 2009).
Purpose: The purpose of the meta-analysis was to integrate
research evidence on the effects of physical activity
(PA) on quality of life (QOL) outcomes among
adults with chronic illness. Two of the specific research
questions addressed were: (a) What is the overall mean
difference effect size (ES) in QOL scores between
treatment and control subjects after interventions to
increase PA? (b) Do the effects of PA interventions on
QOL outcomes vary depending on the characteristics
of participants, methodology, or interventions?
Eligibility Criteria: Criteria for study inclusion were
spelled out in Table 1 of the report, together with an
explicit rationale for each criterion. A study was
included if it examined the effects of a PA intervention
on QOL for people with a chronic illness and if it:
(a) was an English-language study, (b) was published
in a report after 1970, (c) involved a sample of at least
5 subjects, and (d) included measures designed
specifically to assess QOL (not, for example, QOLrelated
constructs such as mood). Both published and
unpublished reports were eligible, and diverse
research designs were permitted (not just RCTs).
Search Strategy: A reference librarian performed
searches, using well-specified search terms, in 11 databases
(e.g., MEDLINE, CINAHL, Dissertation
Abstracts, Scopus, PsycINFO). The National Institutes
of Health database of funded studies was also searched.

Policies to Assist Parents with
Young Children
Christopher J. Ruhm
Summary
The struggle to balance work responsibilities with family obligations may be most difficult for
working parents of the youngest children, those five and under. Any policy changes designed to
ease the difficulties for these families are likely to be controversial, requiring a careful effort to
weigh both the costs and benefits of possible interventions while respecting diverse and at times
conflicting American values. In this article, Christopher Ruhm looks at two potential interven-
tions—parental leave and early childhood education and care (ECEC)—comparing differences
in policies in the United States, Canada, and several European nations and assessing their
consequences for important parent and child outcomes.
By and large, Canadian and European policies are more generous than those in the United
States, with most women eligible for paid maternity leave, which in a few countries can last for
three years or more. Many of these countries also provide for paid leave that can be used by
either the mother or the father. And in many European countries ECEC programs are nearly
universal after the child reaches a certain age. In the United States, parental leave, if it is avail-
able, is usually short and unpaid, and ECEC is generally regarded as a private responsibility of
parents, although some federal programs help defray costs of care and preschool education.
Ruhm notes that research on the effects of differences in policies is not completely conclusive,
in part because of the difficulty of isolating consequences of leave and ECEC policies from
other influences on employment and children’s outcomes. But, he says, the comparative evi-
dence does suggest desirable directions for future policy in the United States. Policies establish-
ing rights to short parental leaves increase time at home with infants and slightly improve the
job continuity of mothers, with small, but positive, long-run consequences for mothers and
children. Therefore, Ruhm indicates that moderate extensions of existing U.S. leave entitle-
ments (up to several months in duration) make sense. He also suggests that some form of paid
leave would facilitate its use, particularly among less advantaged parents, and that efforts to
improve the quality of ECEC, while maintaining or enhancing affordability, are desirable.

Introduction Paragraph
According to historical records and evidence, since the end of WWII US has involved her military in over 60 military actions in countries such as Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq, Panama, Haiti, Kuwait, Pakistan, Bosnia among other countries across the globe. In this respect, American presidents have used their power and authority with the approval of the congress to send and dispatch American troops to engage in military functions such as engaging in attacks and bombing of groups that are pose threat to world peace. Although more often than not, U.S military operations on international level have received a lot of criticism across board it can be argued that U.S has a long history of overseas military operations as tries to maintain its superiority thus currently its military operation plays an important role across boundaries all over the globe (Heitmeyer, 2011).
Outline
I. Three International Events from the past five years that can be traced back to a foreign policy created after the Civil War
A. The killing of Osama Bin Laden in the year 2012 by the U.S government in the year 2012
B. The Islamic revolutions that were witnessed in Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Syria and other Islamic states
C. U.S military action in Afghanistan
II. Three Aspects of U.S. history since 1865 that have led to the U.S.'s rise as a world super power police force
A. Industrialization was the first factor that supported U.S and during this period a lot of discoveries were made in U.S as compared to other industrial powers of the time
B. US flamboyant economy played a major role especially during the first and the Second World War
C. The Mahan’s naval strategy whereby her navy withdrew to newly acquired coaling stations increased her rise to world power
III. Three to five international incidents since World War II where American has taken on a policing role
A. U.S involvement in Iran politics during the famous White Revolution whereby U.S was supporting Reza Pahlavi
B. U.S was in the forefront in 2003 in Iraq as she tried to rescue the people of Iraq from continuous mass killing of people by Saddam Hussein
C. U.S played an important role in 2013 in restoration of peace in Libya and other Egypt by sending her troops there
IV. Three to five driving forces that fueled international policy decisions involving the international incidents you outlined previously (consider treaties, exit strategies, elections, wars, etc.)

Amanda and Dr. Ryan standing in Dr. Ryan’s office.
POL110_9_1_DR-1.mp3: Hello again. It’s good to see you here for the last week of your internship. We only have a few more topics to cover before you’re ready to move on.
Last week we examined the role that the president plays in the decisionmaking process. This week we will look at the bureaucracy and the judiciary, two completely different institutions that are absolutely necessary for our democracy to work.
What do you think about these institutions, Amanda?
POL110_9_1_AI-1.mp3: Well Dr. Ryan, I know some of this from my readings. Unique among other democracies, America’s bureaucracy is distinctive. This is because political authority over it is shared by the executive and legislative branches. This encourages it to play each branch off against the other.
Secondly, in the U.S., federal bureaucrats pay other agencies at the state and local levels, as well as business firms and non-profit agencies, to administer government programs.
POL110_9_1_DR-2.mp3: Good start. Now let’s look at the bureaucracy’s growth. It began small, of course, but exploded first during World War I from 1917 to 1919. This was because of the role the government took in the post-war growing economy.
Then, a little more than a decade later under Roosevelt’s New Deal it became even larger. This was because of the expansion of federal programs like welfare and Social Security. Roosevelt later invoked the income tax policy during World War II and was collecting a huge amount of money by the end of the war.
As you can imagine, this required a substantial increase in federal workers to keep track of these revenues. This money was used to start a great many additional programs which, in turn, required more administrators.
POL110_9_1_AI-2.mp3: That very interesting! I think that the federal bureaucracy, numbering just about two and one-half million people today, is now at the same level it was in 1955. In fact, it’s shrunk since then, relative to the population of over three hundred million Americans whom it now serves.
Slide 3
Interaction Slide
This will be an interaction that showcases various facts about the distinctiveness of the American bureaucracy.
Button 1: Political authority. Political authority over the bureaucracy is shared between the presidency and Congress. This means that bureaucrats are able to play each branch against the other. In parliamentary governments, like Great Britian, the prime minister and cabinet control the bureaucracy.
Button 2: Shared functions. Most federal.
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

The Roman Empire A Historical Colossus.pdfkaushalkr1407
The Roman Empire, a vast and enduring power, stands as one of history's most remarkable civilizations, leaving an indelible imprint on the world. It emerged from the Roman Republic, transitioning into an imperial powerhouse under the leadership of Augustus Caesar in 27 BCE. This transformation marked the beginning of an era defined by unprecedented territorial expansion, architectural marvels, and profound cultural influence.
The empire's roots lie in the city of Rome, founded, according to legend, by Romulus in 753 BCE. Over centuries, Rome evolved from a small settlement to a formidable republic, characterized by a complex political system with elected officials and checks on power. However, internal strife, class conflicts, and military ambitions paved the way for the end of the Republic. Julius Caesar’s dictatorship and subsequent assassination in 44 BCE created a power vacuum, leading to a civil war. Octavian, later Augustus, emerged victorious, heralding the Roman Empire’s birth.
Under Augustus, the empire experienced the Pax Romana, a 200-year period of relative peace and stability. Augustus reformed the military, established efficient administrative systems, and initiated grand construction projects. The empire's borders expanded, encompassing territories from Britain to Egypt and from Spain to the Euphrates. Roman legions, renowned for their discipline and engineering prowess, secured and maintained these vast territories, building roads, fortifications, and cities that facilitated control and integration.
The Roman Empire’s society was hierarchical, with a rigid class system. At the top were the patricians, wealthy elites who held significant political power. Below them were the plebeians, free citizens with limited political influence, and the vast numbers of slaves who formed the backbone of the economy. The family unit was central, governed by the paterfamilias, the male head who held absolute authority.
Culturally, the Romans were eclectic, absorbing and adapting elements from the civilizations they encountered, particularly the Greeks. Roman art, literature, and philosophy reflected this synthesis, creating a rich cultural tapestry. Latin, the Roman language, became the lingua franca of the Western world, influencing numerous modern languages.
Roman architecture and engineering achievements were monumental. They perfected the arch, vault, and dome, constructing enduring structures like the Colosseum, Pantheon, and aqueducts. These engineering marvels not only showcased Roman ingenuity but also served practical purposes, from public entertainment to water supply.
Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

1- "Organizational behavior (OB) describes an interdisciplinary
field dedicated to understanding and managing people at work.
This includes self-management. OB draws on research and
practice from many disciplines to deal with how people behave
at work" (Kinicki & Fugate, 2016, Chapter Chapter 1, Making
OB Work for Me: What Is OB and Why Is It Important?).
According to Kinicki and Fugate, organizational behavior is a
self-discipline that can be brought out from a number of
sources. Kinicki and Fugate explained a few behaviors in the
workplace that can be of use. Some of the examples were
management, ethics, vocational counseling and sociology. It is
important for managers to be able to understand all employees
at all times in oder to keep the company running smoothly.
Organizational behavior is a key point to a manager's line of
work. Communication is a key point for keeping employees on
the right track, this helps the employees to work as effectively
as possible.
Yesterday while being at work, a customer came into the office
where I work asking about a deal that we were offering. Being
unaware of this particular deal, I answered the customer by
explaining that we did not have this particular deal and that I
would be happy to look into it with the other two ferry lines if
he would like me to so that he would be able to take advantage
of this deal. After explaining this to the customer, one of the
stock holders came out to the office and asked me to honor this
deal. Once the customer left we got in contact with the lady that
apparently set this offer up and asked her why no one told us
about this offer prior to her leaving for a Fish! conference. She
then explained that she forgot to inform us. This is an example
where if the communication had been there in the beginning, we
2. could have addressed the customer with a correct answer and
been able to complete the transaction in a more effective matter.
This manager at first did not have a clear understanding why
we in the office, did not know about this offer until we
explained that she forgot to tell us. There had been no
organization with this particular situation, and I felt that it was
very poorly managed.
2- According to chapter 2 Personal attitudes affect behavior at a
different level than do values. With personal values they are
stable long lasting beliefs about what is important to a person.
They become standards by which people order their lives and
make their choices. With personal attitudes, these are the mental
dispositions people have towards others and the current
circumstances before makes decisions that result in behavior. In
the workplace it would be your personal attitude, because
everyone has different beliefs and your personal values may be
against the company’s policy. I recently had an argument with
my head supervisor and to me I would say the result was
because of my attitude. The current situation that was going on
at the time had me directing all of my negative behavior
towards my boss, due to me feeling like he was not respecting
the companies work values. I do feel like if someone else was in
the situation they probably would have probably handled it with
using personal values due to where the situation happened.
3- One of the things that chapter discussed is how people with
good intentions, and not necessary criminal minds also find
themselves making poor ethical choices. Sometimes we have to
learn with time, and sometimes the results can be large. I have
worked in the banking field for 10 years and Ill be honest my
judgment and my ethics have gotten better because I have made
poor choices in the past! There is a big difference between a
bad judgment call, with good intent & a bad judgment call with
bad intent. The problem is how you tell the difference. As a
leader, I look for traits and trends. I try to build relationship
3. with my direct reports and i always give them some level
of making judgment calls, but I also make them accountable for
their choices
These paragraphs are from my classmates and I have to answer
them. Can you please help me to do so?
1- I thought this was a great chapter and start to this course. I
have worked for the same company for 18 years and have held
many positions. In reading this chapter it helped me see how I
came to the position I am in today and also gave me some
insight on what I need to continue to focus on to continue my
career growth. I am currently a Project Manager and have just
been asked to also be the Vendor Manager for one of our
offshore vendors. I believe I was asked to take this over due to
the last project i worked on as a PM in acquiring a company
from a bank. I spent the last year working with the bank on
everything from the legal documents to integration into our
systems to process credit reports to now which is maintenance,
customer service and ensuring our customer is happy. I'm sure
my soft skills played a huge part in being chosen for my new
role which is exciting. Now, with the help of this chapter I hope
to increase my value to continue my growth.
2- According to chapter 1 ethics are the concern with dealing
with behavior, right versus wrong, good versus bad, and many
shades of gray between. When dealing with ethical behavior
you're basically differentiating between good and bad through
ethical principles. When dealing with an unethical person you're
basically dealing with an individual who refuses to adhere to
the proper conduct. Lack of ethics in the workplace can lead to
many different issues, such as legal issues or even tame the
company's credibility. When the behaviors in the workplace are
ethical it leads to good business employee relationships, better
job performance, and even makes the company's image appear
better.
4. 3- As with any group, I think size play a major role on
organizational behavior. My current company I work for was a
small organization six ago when I first started working for
them. Within my first year of working with my company, I felt a
sense of family, the training was more intimate, the CEO knew
every managers name, and they knew what each individual
brought to the company. The company has doubled in size in the
last five years, we are always discussing the mission statement,
it is impossible for anyone to be trained properly, there are
people in position that should not be there, and at my last
manager's retreat, over half of the managers were new. This
shows that while there is to behave or manage a company, it
still depends on the company itself as a whole. It also shows
that people may not understand the importance of organizational
behavior; if your company is small you still should manage it
as big company, because that is where everyone wants to be.
When you have a large organization, you should nurture it like a
small organization so employees and patrons don't feel like a
number.
4- When we first found out that we were going to be moving,
my anxiety skyrocketed a bit. But then I decided to look at it as
a good thing. The good thing about this move was my husband
received his own store, doubled his salary, and i can stay home
with the kids and focus more on school. I feel as if i had to
change my attitude in order to make this move a value. Being in
Utah is great and i am learning my way around. Once i am
comfortable with my surroundings, my good attitude will turn
into great attitude.
