Introduction
 They are so light that wind can take them everywhere.
 They are too cheap to be collected, reused or recycled.
 Plastic is the wonder material that we use for everything Plastic bags
pollutes our environment.
 Today plastic is used in, many of the items we buy or use.
 The environment and agricultural lands are thereby being polluted.
 Thus, plastic bags should be banned worldwide.
3
Types of Plastic Bags
 High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
 Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE)
 Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE)
 Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE)
 Polypropylene (PP)
4
What the effect on the environment?
 There are about 46,000 pieces of plastic floating
in each square mile of our oceans.
 It is estimated that plastic kills up to 1
million sea birds.
 When oil, gas and coal are used to produce
plastic bags, they emit dangerous greenhouse
gasses. The burning of gasses also creates
emissions of toxic gasses, dioxins and heavy
metals.
5
consequences
 Plastic bags pollute beaches and oceans.
 Plastic bags litter the landscape.
 Plastic bags kill animals.
 Plastic bags effect on human health.
 Plastic bags are non-biodegradable.
6
So what can we do?
 We can make a difference just by changing some simple habits:
 Plastic bags can be returned to supermarkets for
recycling.
 If we recycle plastic, pollution and global warming
will be reduced.
 In order to stop global warming and pollution completely, every sector of
industry and society should take responsibility to reduce greenhouse gases.
We should also use renewable energy instead of fossil fuel.
 Councils, schools and community groups can sign
up as ambassadors to run bag swaps, design
reusable bags and get local shops on board
7
And here are some simple tips for home:
 Bring a reusable shopping bag with you.
 Get rid of the plastic water bottle.
 Peak your lunch in glass containers instead of plastic.
 Avoid snacks/food with excess packaging.
8
Conclusion:
 Plastic bag damages the environment especially to
the agriculture all over the world. The environment
including its soil, water and air is seriously affected by
the use of plastic bags. To creating public awareness
we must think about plastic recycling facilities in
Bangladesh. This is very important for society and
cleans our environment for the coming generations.
