1. Costumes
As a starting point, we compared costumes of the band “you me at six” as they have a very similar genre to “And the winner is.” As you see in the picture below their clothing is very fun and colourful. This links in with their music and performance, as it could show that they have energy within their videos, which is what we want to achieve. The hair is also a key aspect of a bands look; the long hair connotes an rock band and many young bands when they start out, such as Kings of Leon and Paramore. Obviously we want the band to adapt their own image in the video so they can be recognised.
As Paramore they have a colour code in the video for Misery Business they had red trousers on whilst Hayley Williams (lead singer) had red top on. This gives the audience something to remember from the video and can be used a selling point for the video as it creates a sense that the band is working together rather than individually within a band.
The shirt adds colour and we want to keep this as it connotes the typical alternative rock band.We would consider possibly less black in the video but keep a layered look as it is a popular look, and our audience might want to use the look themselves and adapt it, plus its something for them to look at. In summary we want our audience to recognize what genre this band is before they hear the music as to create a good first impression . In the song we are filming, they mention shoes. This becomes very important for the costume, as we wanted to have a low angled shot of the band-walking in. we decided that the band wearing there own shoes will add variety to the eye. The shows will mainly consist of trainers such as converse or other similar makes. The hairstyles are perfect for connoting a young rock band as that what many people expect. As they progress their image will changed.
