communication and helping people deal

71. THE PROBLEM
In 2016, the University of Westminster (UK), at the request of Help Musician UK - an
organization for the support of musicians in the British territory - conducted a pilot study
through a specially created questionnaire, with the aim of evaluating the incidence of mental
distress related to anxiety and depression among British musicians.
The survey was launched in May 2016 at The Great Escape festival in Brighton (UK). The present study focused exclusively on t he incidence of mental distress related to anxiety and depression within the target
population: professional musicians (who identify themselves as such) and professionals of the sector , including music managers, producers, composers, engineers of the sound and so on.
72. THE
SCENARIO
In this scenario, the single individual constantly feels the weight of a mechanical
and repetitive misunderstanding from the industry in which he operates, very often
feeling reluctant to ask for help even for the exorbitant prices of therapeutic paths.
HOW ABOUT PEOPLE?
HOW ABOUT COMPANIES?
On the other hand, companies in the music industry are increasingly disoriented in
terms of psychological support for their employees because the standard corporate
therapeutic response is not adaptable to the needs of those who work in the music
business.

MEET THE IDEA
The idea comes from experience, observation, attention to the
problems that afflict this category and to which, often, the right
importance is not given.
With this project, we are committed to keeping the focus on the cooperation and support we
intend to give to musicians and to our own colleagues, with whom we have shared difficult
moments that could have undermined a career built with courage and perseverance.
Precisely in those moments we would have needed listening, support, but also just
understanding: the human side, a lack that exists and that we want to fill.
75. We want to become a point of reference,
creating a safe space where the music
industry can find a landing and starting
point, addressing its own inconveniences
and weaknesses with greater awareness
and a proactive approach.

Editor's Notes
Hi everyone, it’s a pleasure to be here today. My name is Martin and I am the founder of Groovly. Groovly is a music intelligence platform connecting media, artists and fans to optimize music promotion.
In 1993 a popular movie called Groundhog Day came out. In it, the main character falls victim of a spell where every day he wakes up, it's the same day as yesterday.
Now, I have a bit of a confession to make: I have also fallen victim of a similar spell. Only for me, instead of running into the same sales person over and over, I run into artist after artist...
...many of them with the ability to move you to tears with their music – and yet not being able to gain much traction in their careers.
So I decided to break the spell by helping artists get the recognition they deserve, while also helping media outlets engage and grow their audiences.
Groovly’s mission is to amplify and channel the work of the artist as a transformative force of global culture.
The way that modern music promotion works is that artists are usually required to pay music curators in order to get promoted and playlisted. And since promotion is usually not guaranteed, their return on investment can very well be zero.
This also has the drawback that curators get flooded with more submissions than they can handle. And under this model fans remain passive consumers without any say in what ends up getting promoted.
Groovly flips the script through the concept of live campaigns. A live campaign is a virtual stage for music where artists can showcase their work and fans can listen on and vote on their favorites in an gamified, engaging way.
A live campaign can be accessed either standalone or it can be embedded on your website and customized to fit your own company's branding.
A live campaign allows you to exclusively crowd-source emerging talent and it also provides you with an invaluable source of analytics data into your audience that can help you create more relevant editorial content to drive traffic.
It also helps artists extend their reach by getting heard and promoted.
We plan on launching early next year, so if you're interested be sure to pre-register at groovly.fm today to reserve your spot.
And if you are a media company please reach out to us, we’re very interested to hear about your specific challenges going forward.
