'The Boy Behind
the Blog'
Synopsis
Josh is a popular, confident college student – online.Writing as a
hopeless romantic on his blog, Josh's social life is ultimately non-
existent. As the film progresses, we watch his life change for the
better as his online alter-ego becomes real life.
'The Boy Behind
the Blog'
KeyThemes
 Loneliness
 Isolation
 Young love
 Identity
'The Boy Behind
the Blog'
The main character is called Josh, a college student who is extremely shy at
school and ultimately is lonely. The opening sequence will make him look
reserved and quiet. The audience will get a taste, however, of his more confident
side once they find out about his blog.
Another character that we will be introduced to is his love interest, Ava.
Ava is the complete opposite to Josh, being confident and popular.
Nevertheless, unlike everybody else, she notices Josh and is sympathetic
towards him.
'The Boy Behind
the Blog'
Title Sequence
For our title sequence, we
discussed doing something
animated, similarly to 'Juno'
and 'Scott Pilgrim vsTheWorld'.
However, this could be quite
difficult and time consuming.
We could do something
simpler like the title sequence
in 'Submarine' or even more
simpler where the opening
credits just appear on the
screen with the image.
'The Boy Behind
the Blog'
In our opening sequence, we
want to specifically establish
Josh's home life and social life
so that the audience can learn
more about him.
We want to make sure the rest
of the film makes sense, for
example why Josh is lonely.
We also want to introduce the
audience to his blog, as it will
be an ongoing feature
throughout the film.
We will introduce the audience
to the overall background of
the film by a voiceover of Josh.
Setting
In the opening sequence, the
audience will be introduced to
the main setting which will be
the school/college, as this is
where Josh spends the
majority of his time.This is
typical of the teen drama
genre.
'The Boy Behind
the Blog'
The opening sequence will show Josh's morning routine, waking up
and going to school. The audience will see what his school is like,
and other settings.

Target Audience
Majorly male audience
Aged 15-24
Interests in social

Interested in teen
dramas
'The Boy Behind
the Blog"
How will we appeal to our target
audience?
 By having a male main character
 By having it set in a
school/college environment
 Having the film centered around
an online blog, which will be
shown in the opening sequence
 The story line is similar to others
like 'Submarine' and 'Perks of
Being a Wallflower' but is still
individual, which will be
something different for keen
cinema goers.

Editor's Notes

  • #4 The key themes of the film are: loneliness, isolation, young love and identity. Hopefully, these will all be evident within the opening sequence. The themes of loneliness and isolation will not be on going throughout the film, seeing as whilst the film progresses his life changes and he makes friends, and becomes much more confident. The young love theme comes into play when we realise the content and context of Josh's blog, writing about his crush.
