Pip the Penguin: Pip’s first day at school is a short story intended for early
learners. This story includes comprehension questions for each page to guide you
and the student through the story. I often use this story with students who have
AAC devices; they can answer the questions using words commonly found on
SGD’s, such as “school,” “mom,” “bathroom,” “play,” “pizza,” “hungry,” and “sick.”

Pip the penguin lives
in the Arctic. The Arctic
is cold and snowy, but
Pip loves the cold!
Today is Pip’s first day

Pip wakes up, she is
hungry. Her mom
makes her a special
