Patintero is a traditional Filipino game that is widely played in the Philippines. It requires two teams of at least five players each, with one team defending lines drawn on the ground while the other team tries to run across the lines without being tagged. The objective is for the runners to cross all the lines from the starting point and back without being touched by the defending team. Players develop skills like speed, agility, and strategic thinking. Rules dictate the scoring and positioning of players. It is considered an important part of Filipino culture and a good way for children and adults to relieve stress.

tubigan, tubiganay, or tubig-tubig ("water [game]"), because the grid
lines are also commonly drawn by wetting the ground with water. It is also
known as harangang-taga or harang-taga which means "block and
catch", referring to the game mechanics. It is also the most widely played
native game in the Philippines. Because the game doesn’t need any
equipment to play it, but for an official game, prepare chalk to mark lines
on the ground and perhaps a whistle and a stopwatch to set a time limit.

the grid lines – all from the first till the end –

they’re not being tagged. The taggers will also
do the job of guarding, one tagger in each grid
line, and will stop the runners from passing
through the line by catching or tagging them
using the pat or the hand, reaching the front
part of the runner’s body, NOT THE BACK
PART.

43.
HOW TO PLAYPATINTERO
Draw a massive rectangle on
the ground using chalk for
clarity and divide it into smaller
rectangles depending on the
number of players. The
patintero drawing involves 6-8
smaller rectangles.
The players should form two
teams with an equal number
of players, where one team
plays defensive and guards
the other team against
passing the lines. The two
teams make up the guards
and the runners (passers).
45.
The guards assigna
player to the lateral line
in the middle of the
rectangle and the other
players on each
horizontal line.
The objective of the
runners is to get across
to one end of the big
rectangle and back
without being touched
or tagged by a guard.
Types of kinetic energy
During the game, the
guards should ensure
they have both feet on
the ground before tagging
their opponent;
otherwise, it will not
count.
46.
HOW TO PLAYPATINTERO
Once a runner is tagged, he or she
gets out of the game. If a runner
makes it across the big rectangle
and back without being touched
with the butterfly fingers, they
earn a point.
Once all the runners
of a team have been
tagged, it’s game over
47.
The teams thenswitch sides, and
the runners become the guards
and vice-versa.
Patintero rules applyacross the board
to all players. The equipment required
for the game includes chalk or paint, a
score sheet, a whistle, and a stopwatch.
The playing court should be a rectangle
of about 7.5m long and 5m wide divided
into six equal rectangles
