Phrase
• A phrase is a group of words that add meaning to a
sentence.
Examples:
 The nice neighbor
 My best friend
 Troops of soldiers
Types of Phrase
• There are three main types of phrases.
i. Noun Phrase
ii. Propositional Phrase
iii. Adjective Phrase
Noun Phrase
• Is a group of two or more words that functions like a
noun when put together.
Examples:
• All the kids were sleeping.
• The blue house is mine.
Prepositional
• A structure consisting of a preposition and its object.
Examples:
• The computer is placed on the table.
• A plane is flying above the village.
Adjective Phrase
• A group of words that describe a noun or pronoun in
a sentence.
Examples:
• He is a man of friendly nature.
• He leads a very interesting life.
