The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) branch in New Orleans works to improve alarming figures of mental illness by supporting the mentally ill and ensuring local police have proper training and resources. NAMI-New Orleans aims to increase awareness and reduce stigma of mental illness while advocating for better access to healthcare, housing, education and employment. They envision a future where mental illness does not prevent people from reaching their full potential with early diagnosis and effective treatments.

2. Mental Health Illness in NOLA
A woman is pacing on a corner in the French Quarter, yelling at
no one in particular, and appearing frightening to onlookers. She
could be mentally unwell or even experiencing a psychotic break
from reality. She and others who required a mental health
intervention were at risk of difficulty if they called the police up
until very recently. Nearly a quarter of all Americans slain by
police since 2015 had a recognized mental disorder. Data
gathered by The Washington Post after studying all fatal police
shootings over a seven-year period indicate as much.
In the past, dealing with mental health concerns was not
frequently covered in police academy training. It can be
challenging for someone who is not trained in mental health to
determine the underlying cause of aggressive conduct, whether
it be drug misuse, PTSD, schizophrenia, or a variety of other
psychological problems. The scenario might quickly degenerate
if it isn't deescalated.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness branch in New Orleans is
working to improve these alarming figures by supporting the
mentally ill and making sure that local police forces have the
equipment they require.

services, and family support, NAMI New Orleans gives hope, aid, and healing to people with
mental illness—and to those who share their lives. Their work improves everyone's lives by
enabling people to live in the community with respect and freedom.

GOALS

with mental illness at the local, state, and
federal levels. Educate the public about
mental illness.

examining the causes and management of
mental illness.
VISION
• In the future we see, mental illness won't
prevent anyone from reaching their full
potential. There is no pervasive disability
with early, precise diagnosis, therapies,
and tailored drugs and services. In the
end, we hope for a time when a
preventative measure or treatment is
discovered.

The most vulnerable and destitute people in
the eight civil parishes of the Archdiocese of
New Orleans are given hope, assistance, and
tender care by Catholic Charities Archdiocese
of New Orleans. We strive to serve as Jesus
Christ's hands and heart for our kin who are

serve as a stepping stone to self-sufficiency
for individuals in need through our
ministries, initiatives, and community

Mission Proclamation
The purpose of Louisiana Adult & Teen Challenge is to offer
men and women a powerful residential, biblically-based
treatment for issues that are controlling their lives. Our goal
is to generate graduates who can contribute to society
responsibly and effectively and who have positive
interpersonal relationships in their families, workplaces,
churches, and communities.

Purpose:
For those looking for help with skill development and employment services,
intentionally establish a space that is clear, excellent, and focused.
Mission:
They hold the view that everyone is made in the likeness of God and has the
capacity to achieve their goals in life. Every client who chooses to use their services
will receive a message of unwavering hope from us.

8. My goal is to give disadvantaged groups the facilities and resources they need to access
telemental health services in order to improve their physical and mental well-being. My
goals and objectives are to continuously assess and evaluate the effects of telehealth on the
community in order to maintain and improve health promotion and to be ready for health
declines by identifying and evaluating the underlying factors that are contributing to the
decline and implementing changes in accordance with clinical protocols that have been
approved.
