Photosynthesis involves the light reaction where chloroplasts use light energy from the sun to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen through the process of photophosphorylation. The light energy is absorbed by chlorophyll and used to convert ADP and phosphate into ATP through photophosphorylation. This ATP is then used to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose and oxygen through the Calvin cycle in the dark reaction of photosynthesis.
