Mount Baldy is the highest peak in the San Gabriel Mountains at 10,068 feet elevation. It marks the border of San Bernardino and Los Angeles Counties. San Antonio Creek flows through a deep canyon with several waterfalls. Before the Spanish arrived, the area was inhabited by the Tongva people, who were later displaced. Gold mining began in the late 1800s, with water from San Antonio Creek used to process gold. The area is now home to a ski resort and village, and is habitat for wildlife like mountain lions, black bears, and bighorn sheep.
