PhotoAnalysis
The firstphoto isof four boysridingbikeswithone handupinthe air like theyare wavingat the
cameraman. It isan olddirt road that theyare ridingdownand theyseemtobe fromearly1900's due to
the rustic clothesandbicyclesthey're ridingandthe blackand white picture.Theyare teenage boys
aroundthe age of 14 I'd say withnice clothesonandone is carryinga backpack. Theyhave sashes
aroundtheirnecksand honestlylooklike boyscoutsorfollowersof PresidentTeddyRoosevelt.The
photographistryingto conveythe lifestylesof childreninthistime periodof the UnitedStates. My
captionfor thisphotographwouldbe “School Boys”.One wouldprobablyargue thatthese boyswere
fromthe fascistReich(Germany),butGermanywasincrisisaroundthistime andI doubtthere wouldbe
any photographsof fourboysbeingjoyful andridingbicyclesdownthisdirtroad. If one were towant to
findoutmore about thisphotograph, justvisitthe website thatisattachedto the photo.
The secondphotois whatappearsto be U.S. Marinesin the VietnamWar.I know for a fact that
these are Americansbecause of the dogtags that theyare wearing.Inthe VietnamWar,the soldiers
that foughtfromour country were veryyoung;mostof themweren’teven18yearsoldyet.One can
observe thatfromthe two youngladssittinginthe front. The AK-47 withthe bayonetattachment
stickinginthe groundisa signthat theymust’ve hada nice little battle withthe Viet Cong’sandwon,so
theytookthe assaultrifle asa trophy. One hasa chew inand one issmokingsothese guysneverhad
any moralsback inthe statesand didn’tcare to use tobacco. Thisis a symbolicphotoforthe United
Statesas thisshowsthe harsh climates, the putridlivingstylesandthe amountof gratitude these boys
2. deserve fromthe VietnamWar.The VietnamWarisstill talkedaboutingreatrespecttoday.If one
wouldwantto knowmore aboutthe wartheycan go to the VietnamWarVeteran’sMemorial inD.C.or
visita local library.Thisphotocaptiondeservesthe quote “TheseAin’tYourFortunate Sons”.
The third picture isa group of menstandingarounda townsquare dumpingwhatappearsto be
alcohol inthe cobblestone street.Thisseemstobe alate 1900’s photowiththe cobblestone street, the
rusticand dilapidatedbuildingstructuresandthe oldermendressedinmanylayersof clothes.Thisis
obviouslyapicture resultingfromthe ProhibitionActthattookplace to stopall alcohol to be servedin
bars. Thiswasput in place because menwouldgogetdrunkso manytimesat the bar afterworking
about16 hourshifts, come home andbeattheirwife andkids. One canmake the assumptionthatthese
mightbe politiciansandtheyare extremelyhappy andjoyfulnow thatthe Act waspassed.Thismeans
theirvoteswouldrise miraculously. +
