How do you define presumption? How does presumptive judging of others and planning for the future show pride and arrogance? How does presumption judge and reject God? What is the difference between constructive criticism, slander and condemnation? What is our attitude toward God and His law when we speak against a brother or sister in Christ? What warning did James give to those who presumptively plan for the future? How does presumptive planning show pride and arrogance? How do you define sin? How does James define sin? (4:17) How is his definition different from yours?
Trust in the sufficiency of God’s provision in physical life through the Sabbath rest was to prepare us to trust God’s provision of salvation and spiritual life through Christ.
Jesus says come to Me that I may provide you with living water, pursue Me that I may be a light for your path, that I may bring you into the final ingathering.

The Feast fell on the new moon, signaling a new month, in preparation for a new season. By responding to the trumpet call of the gospel, we are ready for the day of judgement.
By God’s design, Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits foreshadow the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and anticipate the harvest to follow.
What does it mean to go into a changing world? A brief reflection on the PTCA vision statement: "We fearlessly follow the Holy Spirit into a changing world. "

Hebrews opens with two very important chapters that take Jesus out of the religious box, lifting him to the Maker of the Universe. From that lofty position, Apollos makes his biggest move and uses Psalm 8 to put humanity right there beside Jesus - ruling the cosmos. Through his explorations, Tony will translate these rich theological themes into language that speaks to our world today.

In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.

Homily: The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity Sunday 2024.docxJames Knipper
Countless volumes have been written trying to explain the mystery of three persons in one true God, leaving us to resort to metaphors such as the three-leaf clover to try to comprehend the Divinity. Many of us grew up with the quintessential pyramidal Trinity structure of God at the top and Son and Spirit in opposite corners. But what if we looked at this ‘mystery’ from a different perspective? What if we shifted our language of God as a being towards the concept of God as love? What if we focused more on the relationship within the Trinity versus the persons of the Trinity? What if stopped looking at God as a noun…and instead considered God as a verb? Check it out…

16. They dwell in their own countries, but
simply as sojourners. As citizens, they
share in all things with others, and yet
endure all things as if foreigners. Every
foreign land is to them as their native
country, and every land of their birth as a
land of strangers. They marry, as do all
[others]; they beget children; but they do
not destroy their offspring.
17. They have a common table, but not a
common bed. They are in the flesh, but
they do not live after the flesh. They pass
their days on earth, but they are citizens of
heaven. They obey the prescribed laws,
and at the same time surpass the laws by
their lives. They love all men, and are
persecuted by all.
