By God’s design, Passover, Unleavened Bread, and Firstfruits foreshadow the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus and anticipate the harvest to follow.
The passages from Leviticus 23 describe the Day of Atonement, a holy day of fasting and affliction where Israelites were to present food offerings to God. Anyone who did not fast or perform work on this day would be cut off from their people. The Day of Atonement brought Israel face to face with God's judgment for sin and the need for atonement through sacrifice to reconcile with God and cover sins. This ritual was fulfilled by Jesus' sacrificial death providing a permanent solution to the problem of sin and enabling fellowship with God.
The document describes passages from Leviticus 23 that outline the feasts of Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. It explains that these feasts were holy convocations appointed by God to be proclaimed at specific times. Passover was to be celebrated on the 14th day of the first month at twilight, and the Feast of Unleavened Bread was to be celebrated on the 15th day of the same month for seven days, during which only unleavened bread could be eaten. The first and seventh days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread were also to be holy convocations where no ordinary work was done and a food offering was presented to God.
The document describes the biblical Feast of Booths as outlined in Leviticus 23. It discusses that the feast is also known by other names that highlight different aspects of the celebration, including Tabernacles, Booths, and Ingathering. The feast involved Israelites living in booths or temporary shelters for seven days to commemorate God providing for them during their wilderness wanderings. It also looked forward to God continuing to protect and provide for his people as well as the future ingathering of nations. The feast celebrated the completion of the harvest and anticipated the coming of the Messiah to fully establish God's kingdom.
Trust in the sufficiency of God’s provision in physical life through the Sabbath rest was to prepare us to trust God’s provision of salvation and spiritual life through Christ.
The Feast fell on the new moon, signaling a new month, in preparation for a new season. By responding to the trumpet call of the gospel, we are ready for the day of judgement.
This document discusses the meaning and significance of communion or the Eucharist. It summarizes that communion connects Christians to:
1. The Passover and liberation from oppression for Jews and Christians throughout history.
2. The gospel message of forgiveness of sins and victory over death through Jesus.
3. Personal faith through weekly remembrance of what God has done.
4. Church worship and unity as God's people gather together.
This document discusses the importance and power of the Book of Psalms. It argues that the Psalms were intended as a "new Torah" to teach God's people lifelong prayer and obedience. However, in many Christian circles today the Psalms are underused or reduced to short passages. The document urges readers to rediscover the Psalms to find guidance through every human experience and emotion, as a way to openly worship God through prayer and song. It presents the Psalms as offering a way to join in praise that has endured for millennia and given comfort to people across cultures.

- It also discusses passages from the book of Acts about Cornelius and Peter, and passages from Galatians and Matthew about the fruits of the spirit and being the light of the world through good deeds.
- Finally, it considers the concepts of goodness as virtuous, graceful, and "putting things to right" as well as Paul's prayer for the church to have hope, faithfulness, and anticipation of Christ's return.
The document provides information about upcoming events at the First Southern Baptist Church of North Hollywood. It includes details about a free mini-brunch on November 5th after daylight savings time ends and a Thanksgiving potluck on November 19th. It also lists church members celebrating birthdays and anniversaries in November and recent Sunday service attendance numbers. The last section summarizes an article about the role of conviction in effective prayer and revival, emphasizing that conviction of sin comes through the Holy Spirit's work, not believers themselves, and that believers should pray for conviction for themselves, other believers, acquaintances, and all unbelievers worldwide.
The document discusses the cradle, cross, and crown of Jesus Christ. It describes the cradle as his incarnation, intervention, and inspiration. It then examines the cross, citing verses about God's love and Jesus giving himself for humanity. Finally, it looks at the crown, referencing Jesus wearing the crown of thorns and his future return with a golden crown to gather believers. The overall message is reflecting on who Jesus is and his role in salvation.
The document discusses Paul's letter to the Colossians regarding the Colossian heresy. It summarizes that Paul wrote to the believers in Colossae around 61 AD to show the supremacy of Christ and refute the heresy. The heresy involved legalism regarding diets, festivals and Sabbath days. Paul teaches that believers are complete in Christ alone and should not let anyone judge them regarding such religious rules or traditions.
The document discusses the worship of the New Testament church based on Acts 2:42. It describes two kinds of worship - true/acceptable worship in spirit and truth, and false/unacceptable worship. The acts of worship for the New Testament church are identified as: 1) preaching/teaching, 2) singing, 3) giving, 4) taking communion (the Lord's supper), and 5) praying. Each act is discussed in more detail with supporting Bible passages provided. The conclusion exhorts worshipping God as the New Testament church did through these acts and becoming a Christian if not already.
The document discusses making decisions that determine the stories we will tell in the future. It emphasizes staying when it is difficult rather than quitting, as illustrated by the story of Ruth who stayed with her mother-in-law Naomi despite hardship. The document encourages focusing on God and not growing weary in doing good works, as perseverance will be rewarded.

- The Holy Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion or the Holy Mass, is the most important sacrament that was instituted by Jesus at the Last Supper.
- It involves symbolic rituals using bread and wine to recall the crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus, known as the Paschal Mystery.
- The Mass follows a standard structure including the Liturgy of the Word, presentation of offerings, consecration of the Eucharistic elements, communion, and dismissal.
This document provides an overview of the origins and development of the Liturgy of the Eucharist in the early Christian church. It discusses how the Gospels describe Jesus instituting the Eucharist during the Last Supper. It then examines how passages from the writings of Paul and John provide theological meaning regarding the Eucharist. The document also explores how the early church fathers like Justin Martyr and Hippolytus describe the Sunday liturgy and Eucharistic prayers practiced in the 2nd century. Overall, the document traces how the church developed a standardized liturgy for the Eucharist based on the teachings and actions of Jesus recorded in the Gospels.
The document discusses the biblical references and significance of the Lord's Table or Communion as presented in the gospels and epistles. It examines what the Bible says about the institution of the Lord's Table, how it should be practiced, and its importance as a remembrance of Christ's sacrifice and anticipation of his second coming. Key details covered include the proper participants, elements used, and frequency of observance according to scripture.
The three feasts discussed in the document are:
1. The Passover and Feast of Unleavened Bread, which foreshadowed Jesus's unblemished sacrifice on the cross.
2. The Feast of First Fruits, which was fulfilled when Jesus arose from the dead as the first fruits of those who slept, taking captives from their graves with Him.
3. The Pentecost, which involved offering two loaves of bread made with leaven, representing the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
This document discusses different aspects of worship. It begins by defining worship and acknowledging that there are false narratives about worship being a personal, obligatory act. The true narrative is that worship is a communal activity invited by God out of grace. It goes on to discuss that what you worship you become like, and the only safe thing to worship is self-giving love. It also examines the who (God), why (God is holy), and how (through various practices like teaching, fellowship, music) of worship.
The document discusses the importance of celebrations in one's life and in the liturgical calendar of the Church. It focuses on the Advent season as a time to prepare for the coming of Jesus Christ. People are called to repentance, conversion, and reforming their lives in expectation of the Savior. The four candles of the Advent wreath symbolize the theme of each week - hope, preparation, joy, and God's enduring love and faithfulness.
The document discusses how the Israelites under Ezra and Zerubbabel reclaimed their worship of God after returning from exile in Babylon by rebuilding the altar and celebrating feasts like Tabernacles. It explains the significance of the feasts in pointing to Jesus' redemptive work and the establishment of his kingdom. The people wept at rebuilding the foundation of the temple but also rejoiced in God's faithfulness in remembering them.
Jesus voluntarily offered Himself, was wholly consecrated to God, was without sin, and willingly gave His life in exchange for ours that we may be dedicated to God.
The document summarizes the feasts and holy days commanded by God in the Old Testament law and explains how they point to and prepare for the communion instituted by Jesus. It discusses the seven feasts/convocations God commanded Israel to observe and their spiritual significance: Passover, Unleavened Bread, First Fruits, Pentecost, Trumpets, Atonement, and Tabernacles. It then explains how each of these feasts corresponds to an element or aspect of communion, such as remembrance of Christ's sacrifice, repentance from sin, resurrection, fellowship, self-examination, and anticipation of His return.
This document discusses what it means to be a chosen generation and how Christians can offer spiritual sacrifices to God through worship. It provides several key points about worship:
1. True worship involves offering spiritual sacrifices like praise, doing good deeds, sharing possessions, and using our bodies as living sacrifices.
2. Worship should come from the heart, in spirit and in truth, and can include singing, clapping, shouting, bowing, and lifting hands joyfully.
3. The document proposes a Lenten project where Christians fast from things like anger, judging, complaining, resentment and overspending, and instead focus on love, forgiveness, prayer and time with God.
June 9, 2019 - The Day of Pentecost - Worship and Sermon SlidesRedeemerWV
Slides from Divine Service/Worship Service on June 9, 2019 at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Charleston, West Virginia featuring the sermon "The World's Greatest Counselor"
Included in the sermon are the five ways to keep step with the Holy Spirit:
1. SEEK to remain open always to the Spirit's loving admonition and exhortation;
2. OPEN up the Scriptures regularly (daily!) so that He can speak to us through the Word and show where and how we need to repent and amend our sinful ways;
3. COME faithfully to God’s house to hear the preaching of God’s holy Word;
4. REFUSE to argue with Him when He clearly shows us where we need to confess and amend our sinful lives; and
5. REMEMBER that before we can help get the splinter out of somebody else’s eye, we must (as Jesus said) get that log out of our own eye.
"The World's Greatest Counselor" is based on these scriptures:
Psalm 143, Genesis 11:1-9, Acts 2:1-21, John 14:23-31

The Eucharist, also known as Holy Communion, refers to Jesus Christ being truly present in the bread and wine through transubstantiation. According to Catholic doctrine, the bread and wine literally become the body and blood of Jesus during Mass. This is supported by several references in the Bible to prefigurations of the Eucharist, including Melchizedek's offering of bread and wine, manna from heaven, and the Passover meal. Jesus explicitly states that his flesh is "true food" and his blood is "true drink" during the Last Supper, intending his words to be understood literally.
This document appears to be the transcript of a Catholic mass service conducted in the Cebuano language. The summary includes:
1) The mass includes readings, prayers, hymns, and a homily by Rev. Fr. Ivan D. Delfin.
2) Parts of the mass involve confessing sins, reading from the Bible, and consuming communion.
3) At the end, there is a prayer for deliverance from calamities and natural disasters.
The document is a slide presentation on the topic of whether our worship is pleasing to God. It discusses biblical examples of worship that was and was not pleasing to God, such as God accepting Abel's sacrifice but not Cain's, and Jesus driving the money changers from the temple because they turned it into a place of business rather than prayer. The presentation concludes that we must worship in spirit and truth through Jesus, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God.
This document contains the order of service for a Catholic mass celebrating the Solemnity of All Saints. It includes readings from Revelation and Matthew, prayers, songs, and sections for the Eucharist. The gospel reading focuses on the Beatitudes from Matthew where Jesus teaches those who are blessed. The homily and prayers of the faithful follow. The mass concludes with communion rites including songs of praise, the Our Father prayer, and sending forth.
The document discusses the origin and purpose of sacrifices in ancient religious practices. It explains that Adam made the first sacrifice after being directed by God, and that sacrifices were offered by notable biblical figures including Abel, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Various types of sacrifices are outlined from the Mosaic Law, including burnt offerings, peace offerings, sin offerings, and grain offerings. Animal types and procedures are described for each sacrifice. The overall purpose of the sacrifices is explained as pointing to the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ to atone for humanity's sins.

To truly calculate the cost, you must consider both the cost of action and the cost of inaction not only for the near term but in the long term. Jesus calls us to a decision. Choose wisely.
Jesus warns his disciples about hypocrisy among religious leaders and tells them not to fear those who can kill the body. He instructs them not to fear people as much as God, who has authority over both body and soul. Jesus promises to acknowledge before God those who acknowledge him before men, but those who deny him will be denied. The Holy Spirit will give disciples words to say when they are brought before leaders to defend their faith.
Jesus responds to those accusing him of casting out demons by Beelzebul by pointing out the logical flaws in their argument. He lays out that a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand, and that if Satan is divided and casting people out of himself, his kingdom would collapse. Jesus further explains that if his exorcisms are by the power of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon them. He tells the crowds that whoever is not with him is against him. Jesus rebukes the generation seeking signs, saying the only sign given will be the sign of Jonah. He emphasizes the importance of hearing and keeping God's word for true blessing.
Jesus teaches his disciples about prayer in response to their request. He gives them a model prayer focusing on hallowing God's name, desiring his kingdom to come, and acknowledging dependence on him for daily provision and forgiveness. Jesus encourages prayer by reminding them of God's generosity like a father who provides for his children, and says God will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask. He emphasizes making prayer a priority and having the right priorities in prayer, such as honoring God and trusting in his provision.
Martha welcomed Jesus into her home but became distracted serving Him, while her sister Mary sat at His feet listening to His teaching. Martha complained to Jesus that Mary wasn't helping her, but Jesus said Mary chose the better part by spending time with Him rather than being distracted by many tasks. The passage emphasizes the importance of sitting at Jesus' feet to listen to Him over being busy doing things for Him without truly focusing on Him.
The seventy-two disciples returned from their mission joyfully saying that even demons were subject to them in Jesus' name. Jesus tells them that he saw Satan fall from heaven and that they have been given authority over all the power of the enemy. He says to rejoice not that spirits are subject to them, but that their names are written in heaven. Jesus rejoices that God has revealed these things to the disciples and not the wise and understanding. All things have been handed over to Jesus by God and no one knows the Son except the Father. Jesus tells the disciples that many prophets and kings desired to see and hear what they have seen and heard.
The Book of Ruth is included in the third division, or the Writings, of the Hebrew Bible. In most Christian canons it is treated as one of the historical books and placed between Judges and 1 Samuel.

It seems that current missionary work requires spending a lot of money, preparing a lot of materials, and traveling to far away places, so that it feels like missionary work. But what was the result they brought back? It's just a lot of photos of activities, fun eating, drinking and some playing games. And then we have to do the same thing next year, never ending. The church once mentioned that a certain missionary would go to the field where she used to work before the end of his life. It seemed that if she had not gone, no one would be willing to go. The reason why these missionary work is so difficult is that no one obeys God’s words, and the Bible is not the main content during missionary work, because in the eyes of those who do not obey God’s words, the Bible is just words and cannot be connected with life, so Reading out God's words is boring because it doesn't have any life experience, so it cannot be connected with human life. I will give a few examples in the hope that this situation can be changed. A375
