2. Abstract
Organizations are continuously encouraging their employees to
participate in pro-environmental behavior. Interest in performing research
regarding pro-environmental behavior in the workplace is also on the rise, but
the connection between interventions and academic work in the workplace
are lacking. This research focuses on a fresh approach by means of proposing
a framework that is evidence-based for use among practitioners in the aspect
of workplace pro-environmental behavior. The study was performed using a
combined empirical research and literature analysis from a program at the
Birmingham Airport. The framework proposed offers workplaces with an
evidence-based tool that can enhance the quality of interventions in the
workplace. More work is needed in order to test and further validate the actual
framework.
Introduction
There is an international understanding regarding the need to decrease
emissions of greenhouse gas in order to potentially minimize the impact of
climate change. The increase of atmospheric concentrations of methane,

overall consumption of world energy, while emissions of greenhouse gas
continue to increase (BP, 2015). Ultimately, adaptation and mitigation to
climate change need action at each level, from employers to industries,
citizens, and communities, to international policymakers.
Literature Review
While everyday behavior at home receives attention coming from
policymakers when talking about reducing personal impact towards the
environment, industrial and commercial activities are held responsible for
significantly producing more emissions of greenhouse gases. For instance, in
the United States alone, the overall industry and commercial sectors produce
thrice more emissions compared to the domestic sectors (Han and Lim, 2014).
A bias is proven to be evident in literature wherein different models have
surfaced in order to explain some pro-environmental behavior in a domestic
setup, though workplace behavior may sometimes be under-represented, and
not completely understood.

reducing environmental impact are typically set apart, while in practice there

environmentally significant behaviors among humans can also inform
behavioral change measures which are aimed at accomplishing a more
sustainable living, having a positive impact towards the environment.
