This document provides information about a pre-conference workshop on turning up the H.E.A.T. (Higher-order thinking, Engaged learning, Authenticity, and Technology use) in teaching and learning. It includes contact information for the facilitator, Dr. Chris Moersch, descriptions of different levels for each component of the H.E.A.T. rubric, an observation form for classroom walkthroughs using the H.E.A.T. model, and a sample next steps plan with goals and actions for a school to improve instructional practices and student achievement.
